Massive cosmological correlators exhibit a rich hypergeometric structure already at tree level, reflecting the distorted propagation of particles in de Sitter spacetime. In this paper, we reveal that this apparent complexity conceals a remarkably simple underlying mathematical structure. Using the spectral representation, we compute arbitrary tree-level correlators of scalar fields with generic masses and show that they are constructed from fundamental building blocks belonging to the family of Lauricella generalised hypergeometric functions, glued together by spectral integrals. We develop a spectral gluing algorithm that evaluates these integrals through elementary graph combinatorics, yielding explicit series representations that resum the dependence on internal energies away from soft limits. This algorithm naturally generates solutions to the differential equations satisfied by massive correlators as expansions in the corresponding eigenfunctions. Acting with a set of graph annihilators, we uncover a new class of magical identities among generalised hypergeometric functions, revealing an unexpected simplification: once the dynamical propagators are stripped away, the remaining hypergeometric kinematic dependence collapses to rational functions. Our results expose a hidden simplicity in the rigid hypergeometric analytic structure dictated by graph combinatorics, and hint at an intrinsic geometric principle from which properties of massive correlators naturally emerge.

A compact form of the stress tensor $\langle T^{ab}T^{cd}\rangle$ correlation function of a quantum scalar field of arbitrary mass $m$ and curvature coupling $ξ$ is presented, with particular emphasis on decoupling in the $m\to\infty$ limit and infrared origin of the conformal anomaly as $m \to 0$. The Ward Identity (WI) of covariant conservation is verified for the full second order metric variation of the one-loop effective action, of which $\langle T^{ab}T^{cd}\rangle$ is part, including local contact terms. This WI is satisfied by two tensors, one spin-2 (traceless) and the second spin-0 (traceful), each multiplied by a Lorentz invariant form factor computed in $n$-dimensional regularization. Minimal subtraction of pole terms at $n =4$ produces form factors that fail to satisfy decoupling for general $ξ\neq 1/6$, but can be simply amended to do so. Particular interest attaches to the $ξ=1/6$ case, in which the spin-0 form factor at $n =4$ is completely finite, requires no UV regularization or subtractions, and satisfies decoupling directly. Its imaginary part defines a spectral function that obeys a UV finite sum rule for any $m$, while its real part unambiguously determines the $\square R$ in the massless limit. Its $m^2$ dependence describes a Wilsonian renormalization group flow to an effective field theory limit at large distances. At $m= 0$ the spin-0 spectral function becomes a Dirac $δ$-function at zero energy, demonstrating the existence of a massless scalar Goldstone collective excitation due to the conformal anomaly in the low energy effective theory of gravity.

We study scalar theories obtained by pulling a free massive multiplet back through a polynomial field redefinition with constant unit Jacobian. Our main example uses the three-variable noninjective map recently announced by Alpöge. After a linear normalization, it defines a three-scalar sigma model with a flat, unit-volume field-space metric and three isolated vacua. Each vacuum is locally described by three free modes of mass m, and the exact equations of motion reduce locally on each sheet to free Klein--Gordon equations. The global theory is nevertheless not a single free theory: the field-space metric is incomplete, the number of real preimages changes across target space, and the commuting position operators have nonconstant joint spectral multiplicity. This rules out a global unitary implementation of the field redefinition and a regular Weyl exponentiation of the formal canonical momenta. We then analyze a four-scalar map with a generic quintic fiber. It exhibits the same mechanism with an additional field that controls the fiber polynomial. The two examples separate perturbative equivalence on a chosen local sheet from global quantum equivalence of the full field space.

We revisit the holographic proposal relating the growth rate of spread complexity to the radial momentum of a bulk probe, aiming to identify its underlying assumptions and clarify how classical probe dynamics emerges from quantum dynamics. By quantizing AdS probes directly and using the extrapolation dictionary, we provide a more general derivation of the proposal. In particular, we interpret it as a concrete realization of a classical complexity observable and its quantization in the ``complexity=anything'' framework. Since probe dynamics is not intrinsically tied to the AdS/CFT correspondence, we also examine the proposal in flat and de Sitter spacetimes. In flat spacetime, the physical Hamiltonian does not preserve the coherent-state structure, and spread complexity measures the dispersive broadening of the wave packet rather than classical momentum. In de Sitter space, generic semiclassical wave packets in the static-patch energy representation show the same dispersive behavior. By contrast, coherent states adapted to the principal-series representation can exhibit exponential growth of spread complexity, with a growth rate that has the same time dependence as the classical radial momentum. These examples indicate that a semiclassical limit alone is not sufficient for a momentum--complexity relation.

Timelike entanglement entropy (tEE) has recently emerged as a novel probe of temporal quantum correlations in gravitational systems. Existing studies are largely restricted to static backgrounds. In this work we extend the construction of tEE to an evaporating Schwarzschild--AdS black hole. The evaporation is modeled through an effective Stefan--Boltzmann description of Hawking radiation coupled to an external absorptive bath, yielding a time-dependent horizon radius ($r_h(t)$) and surface gravity $κ(t)$. We derive, from the near-horizon Rindler structure of the evolving horizon, an adiabatic generalization of the static Kruskal construction, obtaining the accumulated thermal phase $Φ(t)=\int_0^tκ(t')\,dt'$ as the natural replacement for the static phase $κt$. The validity of this construction is governed by an explicit adiabatic parameter $\mathcal A(t)$, which we verify numerically remains small ($\lesssim0.012$) throughout the regime of interest. It vanishes exactly where the horizon crosses the critical radius $r_h=l/\sqrt3$ identified independently from the static thermodynamics. Using $Φ(t)$, we construct a dynamical timelike entanglement entropy that continuously tracks the evaporation process and derive the corresponding dynamical Page-like times. Unlike the uniformly spaced Page-like times of the static geometry, evaporation induces non-uniform temporal spacing, together with a progressive phase delay and amplitude modulation of the oscillatory tEE. Because the dynamical entropy depends on the full accumulated history of $κ(t)$ rather than its instantaneous value alone, it retains a memory of the entire evaporation process. These results establish a first-principles dynamical framework for investigating temporal quantum correlations in evaporating black holes.

For an arbitrary renormalizable ${\cal N}=1$ supersymmetric theory with a single gauge coupling regularized by higher covariant derivatives we calculate the three-loop contribution to the anomalous dimension of the matter superfields proportional to the sixth powers of Yukawa couplings for a wide class of renormalization prescriptions. Next, taking into account that in the case of using the higher covariant derivatives supplemented by minimal subtractions of logarithms the NSVZ relation is valid in all orders, we calculate the corresponding four-loop contribution to the gauge $β$-function and investigate its scheme dependence. In particular, we construct the so-called ``minimal'' renormalization prescription for which the renormalization group functions have the simplest possible form provided that the exact equations for the gauge and Yukawa $β$-functions following from supersymmetry remain valid.

We investigate the holographic timelike entanglement entropy of a boosted $(1+1)$-dimensional plasma within the AdS$_3$/CFT$_2$ correspondence, considering a Lorentz-boosted BTZ black hole background. We solve the coupled extremal-surface equations analytically and obtain a closed-form expression for the HTEE. We show that below a critical boost velocity, the turning points of the extremal surface are purely imaginary, leading to the universal imaginary contribution to the entropy, while the real part acquires a nontrivial dependence on the boost velocity. Moreover, we identify a critical boost velocity at which the complex extremal-surface branch terminates. Beyond this critical velocity, the physically admissible extremal surfaces become purely real, signalling a transition from the holographic timelike entanglement entropy to a spacelike-like real saddle that is geometrically similar to the standard holographic entanglement entropy. The known static BTZ result is recovered in the zero-velocity limit, as expected.

A hypercomplex formulation of scalar electrodynamics is developed, in which dissipation emerges as an intrinsic dynamic property dictated by the extended local gauge symmetry U(1)XSO(1,1). By constructing an effective free-energy functional, we derive the generalized Ginzburg-Landau equations and analyze the thermodynamic stability of the system. Our analysis of the vacuum state up to the fourth order reveals that the constraint on the coefficients associated with the invariants prohibits the coexistence of mixed states, formally establishing the existence of a bicritical point. Consequently, upon crossing the critical temperature, the system is forced to undergo a discontinuous first-order phase transition. Furthermore, we demonstrate that the hyperbolic symmetry induces a structural instability when the effective quartic couplings take negative values, rendering the free energy unbounded from below and creating asymptotic directions of instability.

We present the three-loop (next-to-next-to-leading order) BFKL eigenvalue of planar N=4 super Yang-Mills at odd conformal spin n in closed form, as a finite combination of continued nested harmonic sums and rational functions of z=(|n|-1)/2 + i nu on an integer-shifted ladder. For each odd spin the atom table is extracted exactly, in rational arithmetic, from the Caron-Huot-Herranen three-loop integrand; a shipped command regenerates it for any odd n>=3, with n=1 a supplied boundary block. A resummed master generating function, conjectured to reproduce those integrands at every spin (verified through n=17 and at m=9,11,13,15,21,31), is not used for the per-spin tables. At nu=0 the intercepts reproduce the independent Quantum Spectral Curve values spin by spin through n=91. The coefficients are rational multiples of 1, pi^2 and zeta_3; in a fixed elementary basis, forty of the forty-seven slots close as harmonic sums of the two ladder distances (all-spin form conjectural). The residual five-kernel layer includes one grid obeying a holonomic recurrence; once the harmonic sums are separated the coefficient-weighted ladder collapses onto two depth-one polygamma transcendentals. We report an arithmetic obstruction: the exceptional-grid coefficients recruit a new denominator prime at each n=p+2 (n-2 prime) through the computed range, a finite law we prove and conjecture to continue; on that continuation their generating data cannot be algebraic or globally bounded. Even spins are conjecturally contained in the same master. At each odd spin the eigenvalue is the product-free case of the Kotikov-Lipatov hermitian-separable form. A companion Letter announces the result.

We present the three-loop (next-to-next-to-leading order) BFKL eigenvalue of planar N=4 super Yang-Mills at odd conformal spin n in closed form, as a finite combination of nested harmonic sums and rational functions of z=(|n|-1)/2 + i nu. For each odd n>=3 the atom table is extracted exactly, in rational arithmetic, from the Caron-Huot-Herranen three-loop integrand by direct Mellin extraction; a shipped command regenerates it on demand, with n=1 a supplied boundary block. The coefficients are rational multiples of 1, pi^2 and zeta_3; in a fixed elementary basis, forty of the forty-seven coefficient slots close as harmonic sums of the two ladder distances (all-spin form conjectural, the split a property of the basis), while the residual five-kernel layer includes one grid obeying a finite-data holonomic recurrence, an all-n rule for the rest still open. Beyond the explicit harmonic sums the coefficient-weighted ladder collapses onto depth-one digamma and trigamma functions. At nu=0 the intercepts reproduce the independent Quantum Spectral Curve values spin by spin through n=91. At each odd spin the eigenvalue is strictly product-free, the additive case of the Kotikov-Lipatov hermitian-separable form; the next-to-leading anomalous term carrying 1+(-1)^n is absent at odd n. No n-uniform form is claimed. Derivations (eleven of sixteen kernel closures proven, five verified numerically) and complete expressions are given in a companion paper.

We employ machine learning to quantify the information carried by three Krylov-space observables: the spread complexity $\mathcal{C}(t)$, the discrete Wigner negativity $N(t)$, and the normalized negativity $χ(t)=N(t)/|S(t)|$, with $S(t)$ the survival amplitude, recently proposed as a second-moment infall probe (arXiv:2607.04065). Small residual networks (16-32 neurons) and boosted trees are trained on half of $\sim 57{,}000$ labeled evolutions spanning the GUE, GOE and Poisson ensembles, the integrable $SL(2,\mathbb{R})$/CFT sector, and the chaos interpolation $H(\varepsilon)=H_{SL(2,\mathbb{R})}+\varepsilon R_0 W_{GUE}$. Either moment determines the thermofield temperature at $R^2\simeq 0.999$. Neither reconstructs the fine spectral form factor ($R^2\simeq 0.18$ in every ensemble); smoothing the target does not repair this, and windows wide enough to help erase the dip-ramp physics itself: the SFF strictly refines both moments. The coarse $e^S$ plateau is nevertheless recovered at $R^2=0.861$, mostly from the first 20% of $\mathcal{C}(t)$. A single curve identifies the symmetry class at up to 98% accuracy. In the integrable sector the observables are informationally equivalent, as exact negative-binomial slaving demands, while the negativity best resolves the $(h,α)$ degeneracy ($N\to h$: 0.999). Along the interpolation the asymmetry gap of $χ$ over $\mathcal{C}$ switches on with chaos, growing from +0.33 to +0.77 as the level statistics cross to GUE, while the raw-$N$ gap decays to zero. The second-moment informational surplus is therefore a signature of chaos, carried specifically by the normalized negativity, and we derive an analytical mechanism and a quantitative bound for it.

We consider the non-Abelian bosonized Thirring model for a semi-simple group $G$ at level $k$, with deformation parameter $λ$. We compute the two-point correlation functions of current and composite current operators to cubic order in $λ$, assuming large values of the quadratic Casimir $c_G$ of the group $G$ in the adjoint representation. From these, we extract the $β$-function and the anomalous dimensions of both the current and composite current operators, showing the absence of an additional critical point of order $k/c_G$. Our findings align with those of Destri & de Vega for the Fermionic non-Abelian Thirring model, but contradict the claim in Dashen & Frishman regarding the existence of an additional fixed point of order $1/c_G$.

We study a version of de Sitter static patch holography in which the Euclidean gravitational path integral, with an observer worldline included, is conjectured to compute a trace. Motivated by recent evidence for this conjecture from the sphere path integral, we test it further by inserting operators along the observer worldline and computing two-point functions and out-of-time-ordered four-point correlators (OTOCs). We extend an earlier OTOC calculation by Kolchmeyer and Liu using the shockwave formalism, incorporating both observer recoil and gravitational backreaction. We find that the OTOC conflicts with two basic properties of a trace in a Hilbert space: cyclicity and positivity. The signaling feature of the shockwave geometry gives rise to two distinct resummations of the perturbative eikonal expansion, which are interchanged by cyclicity. Positivity is violated by the fact that the leading perturbative contribution causes the (regularized) OTOC to increase.

Lambert series of the form $\sum_{n>0}a(n)q^n/(1-q^n)$ are ubiquitous in mathematical physics. In particular, 2-loop sunrise and 3-loop banana Feynman diagrams yield Lambert series with $a(n)$ of the form $χ(n)/n^s$ where $χ(n)$ is a Dirichlet character. Resurgence concerns the singular limit as $|q|$ approaches 1. In the Feynman cases we can control this limit, obtaining rapidly convergent expressions, since the Lambert series are iterated integrals of holomorphic Eisenstein series twisted by a character. We generalize this result, to include modular resurgent structures found in topological-string observables.

We formulate timelike entanglement entropy and its Rényi extension in two-dimensional conformal field theory through the analytic continuation of replica twist correlators to time-ordered, timelike-separated insertions. This field-theoretic construction grounds and generalizes recent developments, and applies to temporal subregions of arbitrary extent. Within three-dimensional holography, the semiclassical boundary correlator identifies boundary-anchored complex geodesics as the relevant bulk saddles and selects the one with the smallest real part of the length. This provides a direct boundary derivation of the proposed complex extremal surface prescription and extends to Rényi index $n>1$, for which we explicitly construct the corresponding complex cosmic brane geometry in the vacuum. We develop these ideas in several representative settings, including locally and globally excited states and quantum operator quenches, making manifest the precise agreement between boundary twist correlator and bulk complex geodesic calculations. For AdS-Vaidya, our approach predicts a different result from earlier piecewise geodesic constructions, while reproducing the field theory answer. Across these examples, the operator ordering uniquely determines the imaginary part of the complex-valued entropy, which is quantized in units of $cπ/6$ and sensitive to the effective causal structure but not to the underlying dynamics.

First, for orbifolds of Calabi-Yau threefolds of Ferma type, we define Roan's Hodge numbers. We prove, Theorem 5.2, that for all orbifols of Calabi-Yau threefolds Ferma type, Roan's Hodge numbers correctly count the stringy Euler numbers due to Vafa formula. Second, for Calabi-Yau threefolds Ferma type, we apply Roan's Hodge numbers to get a relation between the Borcea-Voisin construction [Borcea, Voisin] and Betglund-Hübsch-Krawits mirror duality.

We investigate the radiative generation of the Carroll--Field--Jackiw (CFJ) term in nonlocal Lorentz- and CPT-violating extensions of quantum electrodynamics. Nonlocality is introduced through entire nonlocal form factors being functions of the Dirac operator in the fermionic sector. Using the derivative expansion of the one-loop fermionic determinant, we derive the induced CFJ contribution and analyze its ultraviolet (UV) behavior after Wick rotation. For one class of nonlocal form factors, loop integrals become naturally convergent, yielding a finite CFJ coefficient without the need for an external UV regulator. For a second class, the coefficient is rendered finite through an Abel regularization prescription. In both cases, the CFJ structure is preserved while its coefficient is continuously deformed by the ratio between the fermion mass and the nonlocality scale. Our results demonstrate that nonlocality provides a natural framework for controlling UV contributions to radiatively induced topological terms.

In this work we formulate a horizon-microstructure description of four-dimensional AdS black holes in which a horizon of area $A$ is resolved into $\mathcal{N}=A/a_p$ microscopic sites and $N$ occupied horizon sites. The central result is that the combinatorics of this partially occupied horizon sector yields the entropy directly: in the finite-filling regime the leading term is proportional to the area, and the maximal-entropy filling reproduces the Bekenstein--Hawking law with $a_p=4\ln 2\ \ell_{p}^{2}$. Subleading corrections include a subtractive logarithmic term and an inverse-area expansion. We then show that this partially occupied regime admits a thermodynamic justification from an extended first law with chemical potential $μ$, a Smarr-consistent excitation enthalpy $δM(A,P,N)$, and an AdS control parameter $u=PS$. In this interpretation, the combinatorics provides the dominant horizon entropy, while the thermodynamic sector supplies a dressing that selects the equilibrium filling and assigns a finite excitation cost to departures from a reference partially occupied configuration.

Matrix models appear as fundamental descriptions of M-theory and D-brane dynamics, and via the gauge/gravity duality their gauge-invariant, or singlet, sector describes the purely gravitational degrees of freedom in the holographic dual. We present a new exact algorithm for computing observables of bosonic U(N) matrix models in the gauge-invariant singlet sector. This sector is spanned by an orthogonal basis of Schur polynomials (for a single matrix) and restricted Schur polynomials (for multiple matrices), which diagonalizes the free Hamiltonian and provides a natural truncation of the Hilbert space by excitation number. Matrix elements of the interaction Hamiltonian, or any gauge-invariant observable, are evaluated through a group-theoretic reduction to cosets and double cosets of suitable subgroups of the symmetric group, together with character sums on the symmetric group. The resulting entries are closed-form polynomials in the gauge-group rank N, assembled from group-theoretic data that are precomputed once and can be reused for any N and any coupling constants. We validate the one-matrix implementation against the exact mapping to N non-interacting fermions, demonstrating rapid convergence of the low-lying spectrum with the cutoff. The multi-matrix extension is outlined; its main bottleneck is the computation of restricted characters of the symmetric group, for which no algorithm comparable to the Murnaghan--Nakayama rule is currently known. The framework gives direct access to finite-N, finite-coupling dynamics of gauge-invariant states and opens a new computational window on the non-planar regime of holographic matrix models.

The mirror Thermodynamic Bethe Ansatz (TBA) describes the spectrum of $\text{AdS}_3\times\text{S}^3\times \text{T}^4$ superstrings supported by a mixture of Ramond-Ramond (RR) and Neveu-Schwarz-Neveu-Schwarz (NSNS) flux. In recent years, a conjecture was put forward regarding the Quantum Spectral Curve (QSC) formulation in the Ramond-Ramond case. In this paper, we initiate the derivation of the Ramond-Ramond QSC from the mirror TBA equations. We describe the Y-system underlying the TBA and its discontinuity relations for pure-RR backgrounds. This provides the foundation for the derivation of the T-system and the Quantum Spectral Curve, which will be presented in a follow-up paper.

We study the algebra of observables of a semiclassical observer in de Sitter space. When operators are time-evolved by a scrambling time, out-of-time-ordered correlation functions (OTOCs) receive corrections due to shockwave scattering near the cosmological horizon. When the observer's clock is treated classically, we show that the time advance effect implies the breakdown of the KMS condition for vacuum correlators of matter operators. When the observer's clock is quantized, this implies that the Hartle-Hawking state is not a trace on the resulting crossed-product algebra. We conjecture that the observer's algebra has a trivial commutant. When the time separation between operators exceeds the scrambling time, the OTOC decays to zero and a free product algebra emerges. We illustrate this using classical solutions of de Sitter JT gravity with shocks. We comment on how our results pose a challenge for observer-centric static patch holography.

We numerically study kink-antikink collisions in the self-gravitating $φ^4$ model coupled to the two-dimensional dilaton gravity theory proposed by Mann et al. The static kink solutions interpolate between an anti-de Sitter (AdS$_2$) region and a Minkowski region, and can be regarded as two-dimensional analogues of certain thick branes. By scanning the initial velocity for several gravitational couplings, we find that gravity modifies the scattering structure: the resonance windows shift toward higher initial velocities and become progressively narrower as the coupling $κ$ increases, while the critical escape velocity increases mildly. A linear perturbation analysis further indicates possible long-lived resonant excitations in the weak-gravity regime, which may be associated with the persistence of bounce windows. The collisions further produce a clear geometrical response: the conformal factor decreases after the collision, corresponding to a contraction of the local proper spatial scale in the conformal gauge, and this effect becomes stronger for larger $κ$. Meanwhile, the Ricci scalar develops transient peaks during kink encounters but remains finite in all simulations considered. Thus, in contrast to higher-dimensional thick-brane collisions, we find no evidence for spacetime singularity formation in this two-dimensional model.

An inverse problem comprises a matrix equation together with its unknown space, physical data, equivalence relation, and validation tests. We formulate Bern--Carrasco--Johansson (BCJ) numerator construction as an exact adaptive inverse problem. A fixed scientific specification determines the theory, graph conventions, coefficient field, locality and power counting, cut data, observable equivalence, and independent checks. Each finite working specification compiles to $\mathcal{P}_σ=(A,b;\mathcal{S};\mathcal{T})$, where $Ax=b$ reconstructs numerator coefficients, $\mathcal{S}$ classifies the solution fiber, and $\mathcal{T}$ tests it on held-out information. Left-null obstructions identify candidate numerator-basis directions needed for consistency, while the action of candidate measurements on the right kernel identifies informative new cut equations. We illustrate these steps by hand at four points and apply them to one-loop five-gluon pure Yang--Mills theory. After kinematic and graph-symmetry reduction, the candidate numerator basis contains 1127 independent coordinates. The combined maximal, box, triple, and double cuts have rank 920, giving a 207-dimensional affine solution fiber. Exact reconstruction determines a particular solution and the complete ordered kernel. The specified $R_{12345}$ color-ring readout $\mathcal{S}$ annihilates every kernel direction, so the full fiber represents one observable class. A published forward-limit numerator lies in this fiber, and fresh cuts, independent integral reductions, and helicity-amplitude benchmarks validate the result. Explicit search rules and agent interfaces can propose revisions. Deterministic compilation and exact evaluation assess each proposal.

We develop a local spectral framework for the Landau-gauge Gribov horizon that distinguishes gauge-orbit projection from degeneracy of the gauge-fixing Hessian. On a flat torus, spatially constant ghosts form a residual global-color kernel; after removal of this kernel, the reduced Faddeev--Popov operator is the normal Morse--Bott Hessian of the orbit-norm functional, whereas the covariant Laplacian defines the orthogonal connection. For the associated affine focal pencil, we prove a quadratic-form index theorem with a Morse--Bott endpoint. At a regular isolated crossing, the critical projector $P$ and invertible compressed derivative $Γ=P\dot{\mathcal{M}}P$ determine the spectral-flow jump and leading Laurent coefficient of the sourced ghost resolvent; for a simple zero, they also give the wall conormal. Crossings reached along affine rays from the positive region have negative-definite $Γ$, including symmetry-protected multiplets, while a second Schur reduction determines pole orders along tangential paths. A projected single-harmonic model checks the projected Feynman--Hellmann relation. For an $SU(2)$ hedgehog on $\mathbb R^3$, we construct a normalizable threshold state in every coupled spin--orbit channel and minimize over the full tower to obtain the exact stability interval $-2<g<1$. Dirichlet-box spectra approach these thresholds and serve as finite-volume comparisons; no numerical fit enters the continuum result.

We investigate the trans-series structure of the cusp anomalous dimension of $\mathcal{N}=4$ supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory and the dynamically generated mass gap of the $\mathrm{O}(6)$ sigma model at strong 't Hooft coupling. We consider the one-parameter deformation of the cusp anomalous dimension, known as the tilted cusp, and review its strong-coupling expansion obtained through its representation in terms of Fredholm determinants with a matrix Bessel kernel. The advantage of this deformation is that the non-perturbative scales separate naturally, revealing structures that remain hidden in the physical limit. Motivated by this observation, we introduce the tilted mass gap, which reduces to the physical $\mathrm{O}(6)$ mass gap at a special value of the deformation parameter and exhibits a deep connection with the tilted cusp. This formulation allows us to determine the complete strong-coupling trans-series and resurgence structure of the $\mathrm{O}(6)$ mass gap, while extending and proving conjectured relations between successive non-perturbative corrections. Building on the underlying Fredholm determinant representation, we construct an Alien calculus that generates all non-perturbative sectors of these AdS/CFT observables directly from their perturbative expansions. Finally, we derive an exact all-orders relation between the strong-coupling trans-series of the $\mathrm{O}(6)$ mass gap and the cusp anomalous dimension of planar $\mathcal{N}=4$ supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory.

It can be defined in a gauge-invariant way by dressing the operators to an observer. We consider de Sitter space in any dimension and any bulk masses of the scalar fields. At tree level we find the maximal Lyapunov exponent of $2 π/β_{\rm dS}$. However, we describe an IR problem in this calculation at the loop level associated with the vector part of the graviton propagator. Regularizing this divergence leads to the vanishing of all odd powers in Newton's constant in the asymptotic expansion, so that the leading answer comes with twice the maximal Lyapunov exponent in simple operator configurations. We find that the perturbative OTOC in de Sitter can initially grow, which is not allowed by the quantum bound on chaos. Interestingly, we find that this growth is mediated by large diffeomorphisms in the graviton propagator.

Magic, also known as non-stabilizerness, measures the usefulness of a quantum state for quantum computation. While magic is defined relative to a choice of computational basis, in some physical settings the available data determine this basis only up to local phase conventions. In this paper, we generalize the notion of magic and formulate it in a phase-independent manner, and hence define a generalized stabilizer Rényi entropy. As a case study, we consider higher-multiplicity tree-level gluon scattering, interpreting the outgoing helicities as qubits. In this setting, the helicity data naturally determine a local basis for each qubit but leave a phase ambiguity. For $3\to 2$ scattering, we find that the final-state phase-independent magic is generically larger than the maximum attainable in $2\to 2$ scattering. For $2 \to 3$ scattering, we find a nonzero minimal value approached in the soft limit. Moreover, when the three outgoing momenta become symmetric, the magic approaches a local minimum only a few percent above the soft-limit value. In all cases considered, the color dependence cancels from the phase-independent stabilizer Rényi entropy.

I derive the charged-particle spectral edge from the quantum instrument of soft QED. I use two projections of that instrument. Tracing over unresolved photons gives the reduced hard-sector channel. Pushing the outcomes to total energy gives the inclusive energy distribution. Its Laplace exponent is fixed by the diagonal soft intensity. For ${\rm d} N_h(ω)=η_h{\rm d}ω/ω+{\rm d} N_{h,\mathrm{reg}}(ω)$, I obtain $ρ_{\mathrm{inc}}(s)\sim Cθ(s-m^2)(s-m^2)^{-1+η_h}$. I retain the coherence kernel and derive hard-sector dephasing and the spectral edge from two contractions of one soft environment. The diagonal coefficient $κ_{aa}$ fixes the endpoint exponent, while $\frac12(κ_{aa}+κ_{bb}-2\operatorname{Re}κ_{ba})$ fixes the dephasing exponent between hard alternatives. I then classify infrared energy marginals, derive the finite-resolution residue $Z(μ)=(μ/Λ)^{η_h}$, prove stability under infrared-integrable perturbations, and separate the bath exponent from a hard threshold exponent. For the one-electron spectral measure, the hard threshold factor is regular. The resulting edge has the local power law of a gapped unparticle spectrum, while its exponent remains a response coefficient of the unresolved photon sector.

We consider the formation of a near-extremal Reissner-Nordstrom black hole by collapse, and show how to compute correlations in the outgoing Hawking radiation due to enhanced gravitational backreaction effects in the near-horizon region. This is done by reducing to the s-wave and employing the Hamiltonian formulation of Einstein-Maxwell theory coupled to a scalar field. Solving the constraints yields an action for the scalar field that incorporates gravitational backreaction effects at the quantum level, governed by an effective coupling g = G/(πr_0^3 T_H) that grows at low temperature, as in recent Schwarzian-based analyses. This action produces corrections to the free field Hawking state which are imprinted on correlation functions of the Hawking radiation measured at null infinity. As part of our analysis, we show that this action evaluated in the AdS_2 region is equivalent, at the level of all tree-level boundary correlators, to the standard JT/Schwarzian description coupled to dressed bilocal operators. We also reproduce some one-loop results. In our approach, metric fluctuations are included quantum mechanically through the reduced scalar action, rather than through a semiclassical expectation value, and our computation of the radiation manifestly reduces to Hawking's original treatment when metric fluctuations are neglected.

In 1993, Sorkin noted, in the context of quantum field theory (QFT), that identifying the operations accessible to an observer acting in some spacetime region with quantum instruments whose Kraus operators are localizable therein leads to superluminal communication. This so-called Sorkin paradox can be resolved by further constraining the set of allowed local operations in QFT. In this spirit, Jubb and Oeckl identified the minimal conditions that QFT instruments must satisfy to be compatible with Einstein's causality. Independently, Fewster and Verch proposed a framework for local QFT operations that generalizes non-relativistic quantum measurement theory; remarkably, such FV-realizable instruments were shown to be causal. In this work, we study both approaches in the quantum field theory of the free scalar field. In this regard, we prove that there exist causal channels that cannot be arbitrarily well approximated through FV schemes. Moreover, deciding whether a given instrument is implementable or far away from being implementable by composing several FV operations is an uncomputable problem. On a more optimistic note, we show that a very wide class of causal instruments is FV-realizable: namely, those whose measurement channels are random displacements of the field operators. As we show, those suffice to implement any Positive Operator Valued Measure over a set of field quadratures in a non-demolition way (i.e., without perturbing any other commuting quadratures). Similarly, they allow approximating arbitrary QFT operations, causal or not, in a heralded, probabilistic way.

In this note, starting from the exact counting formulae for 4D BPS black hole degeneracies in the cases of 1/2 BPS $\mathcal{N}=4$ and 1/8 BPS $\mathcal{N}=8$ solutions, expressed as Rademacher expansions for coefficients of modular and Jacobi forms respectively, we explicitly show how the number theoretic data in each Rademacher summand is encoded by a Segal-Bargmann heat kernel calculation in the de Alfaro-Fubini-Furlan (DFF) model of conformal quantum mechanics, thus demonstrating the holographic origin of the BPS Bekenstein-Hawking entropy, and all logarithmic and power law suppressed corrections to it. We then derive the 2D holographically dual bulk space-time for this CQM and show that it is an AdS$_2$ space-time with radial length scale correlated to the energy scale of the DFF model. We further show how the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy emerges from an entanglement entropy computation in this bulk space-time. Hence, for the two classes of 4D BPS black holes under consideration, we have inferred the holographic CQM relevant for microscopic state counting from the exact number-theoretic degeneracy formulae and demonstrated the emergence of the near-horizon AdS$_2$ attractor geometry that is holographically dual to it.

We investigate the effect of finite angular velocity on the phase structure and Schwinger pair production in a holographic QCD model based on the Einstein--Maxwell--dilaton framework. Rotation is introduced through a boost construction that generates a stationary rotating geometry from the corresponding static background. We first study the thermodynamic phase diagram using the grand potential together with several response functions and show that all thermodynamic phase boundaries satisfy an exact scaling relation under rotation, implying that the rotating thermodynamic sector is completely determined by the corresponding static solution through a simple boost transformation. We then investigate confinement through the effective string tension and find that, consistent with the thermodynamic observables, rotation decreases the string confinement--deconfinement transition temperature and chemical potential. The corresponding phase boundary, however, no longer obeys the thermodynamic scaling relation. Consequently, the region in the phase diagram that is thermodynamically confined but string deconfined grows with angular velocity. We further study the Schwinger effect using the potential analysis approach. Rotation lowers both the confining and catastrophic critical electric fields and suppresses the height and width of the potential barrier, thereby enhancing pair production in both confined and deconfined phases. In the deconfined phase, rotation also generates a worldsheet horizon that limits the radial extent of connected string solutions and reduces both the maximum quark--antiquark separation and the deepest turning point of the energetically favored string. These results demonstrate that, while rotation acts trivially in the thermodynamic sector through an exact scaling law, it produces genuinely new effects in the string sector.

We investigate the timelike entanglement first law in holographic conformal field theories whose bulk dual is Lovelock gravity. Using the double Wick rotation formulation of timelike entanglement entropy together with the Jacobson-Myers entropy functional, we compute the linear variation of holographic timelike entanglement entropy for hyperbolic subregions. For cubic Lovelock gravity, we explicitly show that a single, universal multiplicative renormalization factor governs how higher curvature interactions enter the variations of both the entropy and the modular Hamiltonian, leading to $ΔS=Δ\langle H\rangle$ for low-energy thermal excitations. We then extend the analysis to Lovelock gravity of arbitrary order around the anti-de Sitter spacetime in the Fefferman-Graham gauge. For normalizable perturbations, the variation of the Jacobson-Myers functional reduces to the Einstein gravity's result multiplied by the same coupling-dependent factor that renormalizes the effective Newtonian constant in the linearized field equations of Lovelock gravity. We further show that the boundary contribution vanishes in the conformal limit for the class of perturbations considered. Consequently, the timelike entanglement first law is equivalent to the linearized field equations of Lovelock gravity about the maximally symmetric background, within the hyperbolic and perturbative regime considered in the present paper.

We study the gauge structure of interacting antisymmetric tensor field models obtained by the dimensional reduction on a group manifold. In such models a dimensionful parameter related to the size of the compact manifold plays the role of a coupling constant. We focus on open issues of reducibility of the gauge transformations in these theories and show that stages of reducibility of the interacting models coincide with ones of corresponding free counterparts.

Wineglass wormholes mediate the nucleation of baby universes out of an asymptotically Anti-de Sitter or flat spacetime. Upon materialization, the new universe naturally undergoes an inflationary phase. Here we study the quantum state of tensor and probe scalar field fluctuations that these wormhole geometries prepare, finding that they reproduce the Bunch-Davies vacuum for short-wavelength modes but lead to deviations from Bunch-Davies on large scales. These deviations, which depend on the charge of the wormhole, cause a small shift as well as oscillations in the angular power spectrum generated by an ensuing inflationary phase, and thus provide a distinctive cosmological observable. The wormholes are supported by either axionic or magnetic charges. In the limit of vanishing charge, they undergo a topological transition after which they contain no-boundary instantons. We find that the small-charge limit suppresses deviations from the Bunch-Davies state for both scalar and tensor fluctuations, indicating that the topological transition is smooth.

Field redefinitions connect many formulations of the same physics, but the standard equivalence theorem is an on-shell result and cannot be used to decide when two quantum descriptions are equivalent off shell. This paper develops an operational criterion for that problem in terms of the Vilkovisky--DeWitt effective action. The central idea is that equivalence should be tested on scalar observables built by pairing configuration-space tensors with admissible probes. This makes the criterion sensitive to the observable class under consideration and separates the usual on-shell notion of equivalence from the stronger off-shell notions needed in gravity, cosmology and non-equilibrium quantum field theory. Metric $f(R)$ gravity and a scalar field theory example serve as prototypes, showing how the formal criterion distinguishes local, branchwise and genuinely global equivalence. In particular, we show that metric $f(R)$ gravity and its auxiliary-field reformulation yield the same quantum theory when the auxiliary constraint is enforced in the path integral. This is distinct from quantizing the corresponding scalar--tensor action with the metric and scalar treated as independent integration variables, which defines a different quantum theory. Apparent quantum inequivalences can then be traced to comparisons between different quantum objects, rather than to a failure of actual equivalences. This leads to general and precise notions of local and global equivalence under both field redefinitions and auxiliary-variable extensions.

We study a number of holographic solutions describing conformal line defects within $N=2$ SCFTs from matter-coupled $N=4$ gauged supergravity in five dimensions. For $SO(2)_D\times SO(3)$ gauge group, the gauged supergravity admits two supersymmetric $AdS_5$ vacua with $N=4$ and $N=2$ unbroken supersymmetries. It turns out that only solutions that are asymptotic to the $N=4$ vacuum are possible leading to line defects within the dual $N=2$ SCFT. In gauged supergravity with $SO(2)\times ISO(3)$ gauge group, we find similar solutions with the $N=2$ SCFT appearing in the IR while the UV field theories correspond to six-dimensional $N=(0,2)$ field theories arising from M5-branes wrapped on a hyperbolic space $H^2$. The solution with $SO(2)\times SO(3)$ symmetry is also uplifted to eleven dimensions via a consistent truncation on $H^2\times S^4$. Finally, for gauged supergravity with $SO(2)\times SO(3)\times SO(3)$ gauge group that admits two $N=4$ supersymmetric $AdS_5$ vacua, we find a solution describing a line defect that interpolates between these two vacua as well as a solution with only one asymptotic $AdS_5$ geometry.

We construct finite-tension non-Abelian vortex solutions in a renormalizable $(3+1)$-dimensional $SO(3)$ gauge theory Higgsed to the tetrahedral group $A_4$ by a Higgs field in the spin-3 representation. Since the vacuum manifold is $SO(3)/A_4$, the vortices are characterized by the non-Abelian fundamental group $π_1(SO(3)/A_4)\simeq \widetilde{A}_4$, the binary tetrahedral group. We obtain explicit axisymmetric vortex solutions carrying holonomies corresponding to the order-two and order-three conjugacy classes of $A_4$, determine their tensions numerically, and show that they exhibit type-I, type-II, and Bogomol'nyi--Prasad--Sommerfield-like behavior depending on the Higgs and gauge boson mass ratios. The vortices are classified by conjugacy classes of $\widetilde{A}_4$, while their infrared descriptions are labeled by conjugacy classes of $A_4$. We further demonstrate that the smooth finite-tension vortices reduce in the infrared to Gukov--Witten surface operators of the $A_4$ discrete gauge theory, thereby establishing a finite-energy ultraviolet completion of non-invertible defects in a renormalizable gauge-Higgs theory.

We develop explicit computational tools for the recent homological approach to the construction of $2$-dimensional integrable field theories on $Σ$ from $4$-dimensional semi-holomorphic Chern-Simons theory on $Σ\times C$. In this framework, the operation of integrating out the spectral curve $C$ is realized by homotopy transfer of a cyclic $L_\infty$-algebra associated with the $4$-dimensional theory with prescribed singularities and boundary conditions. We construct explicit strong deformation retracts for divisor-twisted Dolbeault complexes on $C=\mathbb{C}P^1$ and use them to make the transferred $L_\infty$-structure computationally accessible. As an application, we study the choice of meromorphic $1$-form corresponding to the principal chiral model with a Wess-Zumino term. We compute the transferred Maurer-Cartan action and the associated Lax connection, showing that the former resums to the standard principal chiral model action with a Wess-Zumino term and that the latter reproduces the usual Lax connection.

We provide a proof of unitarity for quantum field theory in a general spacetime. Our argument expresses the Bogoliubov transformations in terms of a unitary squeezing operator relating the initial and final Hilbert spaces. The $S$-matrix in curved spacetime is thus the product of the squeezing operator and the $S$-matrix in the out-Hilbert space (typically Minkowski). Since both factors are unitary, their product is unitary. It follows that the Bogoliubov in-vacuum is described by a BCS-like state (Bardeen--Cooper--Schrieffer): (i) for fermions, it is exactly the BCS state, but with electrons and positrons in place of electrons with opposite spin; (ii) for bosons, it is the Bose--Einstein condensate (BEC) superfluid ground state. Thus, gravity, or an accelerating force, creates from the vacuum a many-particle system unstable towards forming a new ground state of Cooper pairs. Technically, gravity converts the vacuum into an electron-positron condensate, with respect to which quantum field theory evolves unitarily. By reverse engineering, we reconstruct the effective Hamiltonian of QFT in a black hole (or Rindler) background, together with a simple formula for the mass gap function, which grows approximately linearly with the temperature. Hence, electrons and positrons condense into a superconducting state at increasingly higher temperatures as the black hole mass decreases. Unitarity and the particle interpretation are preserved at every stage of evaporation. The Hawking state is exactly a BCS state. Finally, we compute the entanglement entropy and derive the area law.

The worldsheet $σ$-model of strings on AdS$_3$ with NS-NS fluxes can be equivalently described in terms of a Liouville field theory coupled to a timelike field with background charge, plus a marginal deformation. The operator that produces the deformation is non-normalizable and, from the string theory perspective, is associated to the spectral flow sector $ω=2$. Its role is to control the winding number violation in scattering amplitudes. In the semiclassical (large $k$) limit, the central charge of the Liouville factor tends to that of the dual CFT$_2$, namely $c\simeq 6k$. This may appear very similar to what occurs in the Liouville-type description of the dual deformed orbifold CFT$_2$, where a twist-2 deformation operator dressed with a non-normalized field also appears. Indeed, there are some similarities to that; however, there are also significant differences, which we discuss.

In this paper, we discuss the validity of the composite worldline instanton approach for the nonperturbative decay of charged particles in constant electric and magnetic fields. It is shown that the instanton results in the leading exponential approximation in the different limits agree with the ones obtained by the imaginary part of the self-energy in the external field and by overlap of the wave functions. We comment on the possible application of our results for the estimation of the decay rate of the proton in the external electric and magnetic field in the leading exponential approximation. The effects of entanglement of the particles in the final state are briefly mentioned.

We determine the quantum corrections to transport arising from fluctuations of the near-AdS${}_2$ throat of near-extremal black branes in holographic models with momentum relaxation. By computing the shear viscosity and electrical conductivity at both zero and finite chemical potential, we uncover a universal low-temperature enhancement of transport generated by Schwarzian quantum fluctuations. Specifically, transport coefficients extracted from retarded Green's functions increase throughout the regime $C T \ll 1$. For operators with Schwarzian scaling dimension $Δ>1$, this enhancement is preceded by a universal minimum at a characteristic temperature $T_{\rm min} \propto C^{-1}$, leading to a non-monotonic temperature dependence strikingly similar to that observed in many correlated materials. In contrast, for the case $Δ=1$, relevant for the electrical conductivity, the transport coefficient evolves monotonically toward a constant value. Our results identify universal signatures of near-horizon quantum gravity in the transport properties of holographic quantum matter.

We revisit holographic electrical conductivity in the regime of very low temperatures where quantum fluctuations in the throat of the near-extremal, asymptotically AdS$_4$ dual black brane are strongly coupled. We treat the fluctuations via an effective two-dimensional action capturing the effects of the Schwarzian modes at the scale $1/C$. Our main result is a non-monotonic temperature dependence: the quantum-corrected conductivity decreases as the temperature is lowered, reaches a minimum at $(CT_{\mathrm{min}}\simeq 0.023)$, and grows as $(1/\sqrt{CT})$ for $(CT\ll 1)$. We further estimate the one-loop contribution to the conductivity directly from the four-dimensional gravitational path integral and find qualitative agreement with the effective two-dimensional description in the regime $(CT\gg 1)$. We find that quantum corrections substantially modify the low-temperature behavior of the holographic conductivity in both approaches.

We prove sharp bounds on the moduli space excursion that is possible outside the event horizon of a spherically symmetric charged black hole. In regions where the black hole charge $Q (φ)$ is no less than its asymptotic value, we prove that the total moduli space excursion is less than $\fracπ{2\sqrt{k_N}}$ where $k_N$ is the rationalized Newton constant. We also show that the moduli space excursion in a specified direction in which $Q (φ)$ is non-decreasing satisfies the same bound. Applying our bound to electrically charged black holes, we rule out a potential loophole in a recent proof [arXiv:2401.14449] of the Weak Gravity Conjecture in perturbative bosonic string theory.

We study the appearance of universality classes in overall weak-coupling infinite-distance limits in the conformal manifold of 4d ${\cal N}=4,2,1$ superconformal gauge theories at large $N$ and their relation to the type of weakly-coupled emergent string in the AdS bulk dual using brane models. We focus on the complete set of theories with simple gauge group, and provide explicit Hanany-Witten constructions for each of them, including those that have non-Einstein bulk duals. This establishes that the three universality classes found in arXiv:2410.07309 are determined by the number of NS5-branes becoming coincident in a suitable double-scaling limit required to obtain the SCFT. Furthermore, all theories within a given universality class descend from the same parent theory by performing orbifold/orientifold projections (with possibly a small number of extra flavors), which are subleading effects at large $N$. This explains the origin of the universality classes from a CFT perspective. Moreover, we argue that theories in the same universality class share the same closed-string background -- generated by the double-scaled NS5-brane system -- in which the backreaction of D-branes is expected to generate the AdS throat holographically dual to the SCFT. We describe the corresponding worldsheet theories, and find that the three kinds of emergent tensionless strings correspond to the 10d type IIB string, a subcritical string previously studied in a related context, and a novel kind of string which we characterize in detail. Our tools are not limited to this set of SCFTs, but can be naturally applied to more general theories, and allow us to study interpolating models yielding a network of SCFTs related by partial weak-coupling limits. We explicitly discuss the generalization of our results to large classes of theories with more than one gauge factor and even to some quasi-conformal gauge theories.

We demonstrate SWSSB with the BTZ black hole and show that, in the bulk, it is realized through wormhole geometries connecting the two copies in the thermofield-double construction. We point out that SWSSB can be recast as an emergence of global symmetries under ensemble averaging. We further examine the interplay between SWSSB and the swampland program, and propose a new swampland conjecture for quantum-gravity theories involving ensemble averages.

We perform a systematic survey of the Hagedorn behaviour at infinite-distance points in the conformal manifold of four-dimensional large-$N$ $\mathcal{N}=2$ Superconformal Field Theories admitting a Lagrangian description. Many properties of these theories can be understood in terms of the Lie algebra encoding the shape of their quiver. We find that in the overall-free limit, the Hagedorn temperature is determined by the largest eigenvalue of an affine or finite Cartan adjacency matrix. This defines two types of universality classes of theories sharing the same high-energy exponential growth of states characteristic of string-like spectra. The first and largest is the affine case, corresponding to orbifold and orientifold projections of $\mathcal{N}=4$ super-Yang-Mills, and all share the same temperature. The others fall into universality classes following an ADE classification with a temperature set by the dual Coxeter number, and can be obtained by deforming the affine case. Our results apply to all large-$N$ $\mathcal{N}=2$ quivers with any classical gauge symmetry, including those with matter charged beyond bifundamental representations. We further discuss the string-theoretic construction of these theories and some of the holographic implications, as well as how our methods extend to broad families of theories with less supersymmetry. We also consider limits where only part of the theory becomes free, and find lower and upper bounds on the exponential rate predicted by the CFT Distance Conjecture. Both these bounds and the Hagedorn temperature are set by the same eigenvalue, and when the quiver has a single gauge node the lower bound is saturated, giving a natural explanation for the three universality classes recently found in the literature.

In this paper, we study codimension-two holography in a de Sitter (dS) wedge setup, based on the idea of wedge holography. We consider a $d+1$-dimensional Anti-de Sitter (AdS) bulk spacetime bounded by two end-of-the-world branes with $d$-dimensional de Sitter geometry. We propose that this configuration is holographically dual to a conformal field theory (CFT) living on a $d-1$-dimensional sphere. Our computations of the partition function and holographic entanglement entropy support this duality and indicate that the dual CFT is non-unitary. We also analyze the mass spectrum in dS wedge holography. We verify the first law of entanglement entropy within this framework. Finally, we make use of the island prescription to study the Page curve in a simplified model within our dS wedge holography framework.

We study the low-temperature expansion of the disk partition function $Z(β)$ of the double-scaled SYK model (DSSYK) at fixed coupling $λ=2p^{2}/N$, where $N$ is the number of Majorana fermions and $p$ is the number of fermions in each interaction term, both taken to infinity. We show that the exact Bessel-function representation of $Z(β)$, expanded at large argument (corresponding to low temperature), can be organized in terms of the classical ring of quasi-modular Eisenstein series $E_{2},E_{4},E_{6}$ and their differential identities. Exploiting the modular $S$-duality properties of this ring, we derive the semiclassical (small $λ$) low-temperature expansion of $Z(β)$, splitting it into a perturbative tower and a non-perturbative sector controlled by $\widetilde q=e^{-4π^{2}/λ}$. At each order in $\widetilde q$, we determine the non-perturbative correction in closed form up to second order in $λ$; the resulting series resums into a compact expression in the same Eisenstein series, extending previous semiclassical results beyond their strict $β\to\infty$ limit. We further show that this entire structure follows from a single, exact differential equation coupling a modular derivative to derivatives with respect to temperature. Finally, we prove that the non-perturbative sector of $Z(β)$ is exactly supported, to all orders in $λ$, on the same exponents as the on-shell actions of known bilocal-Liouville saddles of the DSSYK Schwarzian limit, pointing to a well-defined bulk origin for these non-perturbative corrections.

We set up a bootstrap workflow to study four-point conformal integrals in position space, using leading singularities, single-valued multiple polylogarithmic ansätze and boundary data from expansion by regions. These four-point conformal integrals are general in the sense that they are generated by the four-point projections of all possible $f$-graphs, including all non-planar $f$-graph sectors. For three-loop cases, fourteen of the fifteen inequivalent integrand basis can be directly calculated by \texttt{HyperlogProcedures} and the last one is fixed by Gram identity. Then we concentrate on how far the bootstrap workflow can go for four-loop cases, though it works for three-loop cases as well. We show that integrals with several leading singularities can be made tractable by decomposing them into pieces with simpler cut structure. Some four-loop integrals which can not be calculated or very hard to be calculated by other methods for now are obtained in this way. We also provide a package with skill files which is suitable to be read and used by current AI models.

We study timelike entanglement entropy and timelike subregion complexity in localized black holes with asymptotic AdS3*S3*T4 geometry, focusing on the black-pole solution. Unlike the BTZ solution, the black pole exhibits a nontrivial dependence on the internal sphere through the functions $K_y(r,θ)$ and $G(r,θ)$. Both observables are constructed from spacelike and timelike Lorentzian branches, but they probe the geometry in different ways: timelike entanglement yields a complex lifted area, while timelike complexity gives a real, finite renormalized volume. We employ a localized timelike prescription in which the branch profile is built at an angular label $θ_0$ and subsequently lifted over the physical internal angle $θ$. In the large-$r$ regime, the leading angular dependence drops out, recovering the expected short-interval behaviour. In the exact black-pole geometry, the temporal families become non-monotonic, making a fixed-boundary-interval selection essential. As the boundary interval increases, the selected branches move inward and become sensitive to the localized cap-horizon transition region. These results demonstrate that timelike Lorentzian observables probe localized-geometry effects that are absent in BTZ and in the leading large-$r$ description.

We develop a non-nested Bethe ansatz description of rational $\mathfrak{gl}_\ell$ spin chains in the vector representation. Starting from the quantum spectral curve and the separation-of-variables framework, we derive closed systems of Bethe equations involving only the momentum-carrying Bethe roots. The construction is worked out explicitly for the $\mathfrak{gl}_3$ and $\mathfrak{gl}_4$ spin chains and then generalized to arbitrary rank. A central result of this work is the identification of a recursive hierarchy associated with the fundamental transfer matrices. The hierarchy is generated by regularity conditions of the lower transfer matrices and closes through a universal rank-$\ell$ equation $\mathcal{R}_{\ell}=0$. This equation replaces the final level of the conventional nested Bethe ansatz and eliminates all auxiliary Bethe roots. Consequently, the complete spectral data of an eigenstate are encoded solely in the first Baxter polynomial $Q_{1}(u)$. We further obtain explicit expressions for the eigenvalues of all fundamental transfer matrices in terms of the momentum-carrying roots alone. The resulting formulation provides a compact characterization of the spectrum of rational $\mathfrak{gl}_\ell$ spin chains and reveals a direct connection between the quantum spectral curve, transfer-matrix fusion relations, and a truncated $Q$-system underlying the non-nested description. Finally, we investigate the quasi-classical (Gaudin) limit of the non-nested Bethe equations. For the $\mathfrak{gl}_3$ spin chain, we show that the leading non-trivial contribution gives rise to Gaudin equations whose pole-free form naturally defines a scalar third-order $\mathfrak{gl}_3$ oper.

We present an exact solution describing multi-rotating black holes in 4D Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory, which can be obtained from 5D Kaluza--Klein theory via dimensional reduction. The solution represents a multi-centered configuration of rotating black holes carrying both electric and magnetic charges, with each black hole possessing a non-aligned angular momentum. This work generalizes our previous solution for black holes with aligned angular momenta to the more general case of non-aligned angular momenta. It includes, as special cases, the Majumdar--Papapetrou solution, the recent multi-centered rotating black hole solutions of Teo and Wan, and our previous solution with unequal electric and magnetic charges. The resulting spacetimes are free of curvature singularities and closed timelike curves, both on and outside the horizons, provided that the magnitude of the spin angular momentum of each black hole remains below a certain upper bound.

In this paper, we considered two-particle variants of the N-extended Euler-Calogero-Moser and Calogero models. Due the translation invariance, the center of mass can be decoupled (together with the corresponding fermions), leaving us with specific superconformal mechanics. Additional bosonic variables (spin variables) can easily be incorporated into the supercharges and the Hamiltonian. In the case of the Euler-Calogero-Moser model, the supersymmetry in the two-particle cases admits an unexpected extension from Osp(N|2) to SU(1,1|N) superconformal symmetry. The case of the Calogero model leads to purely Osp(N|2) superconformal mechanics. The way to get rid of the well-known problems along this path is to have a higher number of fermions present in the system.

In this manuscript, we propose a novel topological framework based on the heat capacity of black holes to investigate the topology of thermodynamic multicritical points. We construct a two-dimensional thermodynamic vector field whose isolated zeros correspond to the critical points of the system. The local topology of each critical point is characterized by its Brouwer degree, which serves as a locally conserved topological quantity. Applying this formalism to several AdS black hole solutions, we demonstrate that each system possesses a globally conserved topological charge. Although the number of thermodynamic critical points changes as the thermodynamic parameters are varied, the total topological charge remains invariant throughout the evolution. We show that these topological transitions are governed by the creation or annihilation of topologically neutral defect pairs carrying opposite Brouwer degrees. Our results provide a unified topological framework for understanding the emergence, evolution, and classification of thermodynamic multicritical points in black hole systems.

We use the large $N$ critical point formalism to examine the interplay of supersymmetry and chiral symmetry on the location or otherwise of multiple zetas in the renormalization group functions of several related field theories. In particular we determine that the anomalous dimension of the matter field of the Lagrangian corresponding to the bosonic sector of the $O(N)$ Wess-Zumino is free of multiple zetas to $O(1/N^3)$.

We derive the Belinfante--Rosenfeld symmetrization procedure from the metric-affine conservation law by means of an affine lift of flat-spacetime field theories. Following minimal coupling to an independent affine connection, variation of the action with respect to the connection defines the hypermomentum current. Taking the flat-spacetime limit of the resulting conservation law, we recover the Belinfante--Rosenfeld relation, with the divergence of the hypermomentum current reproducing the Belinfante improvement term. We thoroughly study the form of the couplings with this property and their physical significance. The construction is illustrated for Quantum Electrodynamics and Quantum Chromodynamics.

In this paper, we discuss the conjugate boundary condition (CBC), which has recently been studied as a way of realizing a Majorana fermion within a compactified five-dimensional theory ($\mathcal M^4\otimes S^1/Z_2$). The Majorana fermion which plays a crucial role in the seesaw scenario arises as a zero mode (lowest mode) by imposing the CBC. Although each nonzero Kaluza-Klein (KK) mode is also naively expected to be described by two Majorana fermions, we show by direct calculation that they can be combined into a Dirac spinor in the free theory or up to the level of the quadratic term in the Lagrangian. This difference comes from the fact that an accidental U(1) symmetry exists in the KK mode sector, though such a symmetry does not appear in the zero mode sector. We also point out that the compatibility between the CBC and the axial U(1) transformation plays a crucial role in the diagonalization of the KK mode. We also investigate interactions compatible with both the CBC and the chiral orbifold projection. We find that a nontrivial bulk interaction between a CBC fermion and a chiral-orbifold fermion is allowed. As an application, we construct an extended seesaw scenario by utilizing both boundary conditions and such nontrivial bulk interactions. The resulting seesaw scenario has a different property in contrast with the conventional extended seesaw scenario; namely, the above new non-trivial interactions cause lepton number violation (LNV), while the Majorana mass term in our model does not violate lepton number.

Recent analyses of Proca theories with non-minimal curvature couplings have uncovered an additional scalar degree of freedom with an identically vanishing propagation speed, $c_s^2=0$, signaling a scale-dependent strong-coupling problem. In this {\it Letter}, we show that an additional derivative interaction can lift this zero-speed degeneracy and restore a non-degenerate quadratic dynamics for the scalar perturbations. In an open region of parameter space, the scalar kinetic matrix is positive definite and the high-frequency propagation speeds are real and positive. At quadratic order, this removes the specific signature of strong coupling associated with the $c_s^2=0$ mode. We also uncover a non-uniform limit as the temporal vector condensate approaches zero: at fixed nonzero $A_0$, the formal extreme-ultraviolet regime develops a ghost, while the kinetic structure of the exactly vanishing-condensate branch is different. The momentum scale at which this ghost appears is pushed toward increasingly high values as $A_0\to0$. Whether the ghost scale ultimately lies above the EFT cutoff depends on an independent determination of the EFT cutoff. Finally, we identify a stable de Sitter fixed point with $A_0\neq0$, surrounded by a finite region in which the scalar no-ghost and high-frequency stability conditions remain satisfied.

We consider the classical satellite and splice constructions of knot theory from the perspective of link-complement states in three-dimensional topological quantum field theory (TQFT). These states are prepared by a TQFT on a link-complement manifold, namely a manifold with multiple disjoint torus boundaries, obtained by removing a thickened link from a closed ambient three-manifold. In this setting, satellite and splice constructions are realized by gluing manifolds along torus boundaries, and the TQFT assigns to these building blocks multilinear operators acting on the corresponding torus Hilbert spaces. We give explicit prescriptions for these operators and show how they can be used to build link-complement states. This construction is closely related to the JSJ decomposition of link-complement manifolds. While splicing builds manifolds by gluing along tori, the JSJ decomposition cuts a manifold along essential tori into canonical pieces. From the TQFT point of view, this expresses a link-complement state as a network of elementary operators associated with the JSJ pieces. We illustrate this framework by studying the entanglement entropy of Seifert-fibered link complements, Hopf-chain complements, and complements of Whitehead-doubled Hopf chains, showing how their different JSJ structures lead to distinct entanglement patterns.

It is widely believed that global symmetries cannot exist in a consistent theory of quantum gravity. A prominent mechanism underlying this expectation is provided by gravitational instantons or Euclidean wormholes, whose contributions to the Euclidean path integral generates local symmetry-breaking operators in the effective action with couplings parametrized by the $α$-parameters $\overrightarrowα=(α_1^{},α_2^{},\cdots)$. The appearance of these $α$-parameters is often taken as evidence that wormholes explicitly break global symmetries. In this paper, we argue that this conclusion is premature. The fate of the symmetry is determined by the ensemble average over these $α$-parameters. We show that, under broad situations, this average can be sharply dominated by the symmetric point $\overrightarrowα=0$, while contributions from other symmetry-breaking critical points $\overrightarrowα\neq 0$ are typically suppressed by a doubly exponential factor $\exp(-e^{2S_{\rm ins}})$, where $S_{\rm ins}$ is the instanton action. In particular, standard $\mathrm{U}(1)^{}$ Peccei--Quinn models fall into this class, implying that the conventional axion quality problem does not arise in the wormhole-induced effective theory. Our analysis is formulated for general $\mathrm{U}(1)^{}$ $p$-form global symmetries.

Krylov complexity is a powerful diagnostic of quantum dynamics, with clear connections to other measures of quantum chaos and operator growth. One such measure is the Loschmidt amplitude, defined as the overlap of initially identical states evolved under two slightly different Hamiltonians. Its decay in certain systems is controlled by the classical Lyapunov exponent. Using the algebraic properties of the Krylov complexity operator, we express Krylov complexity as the derivative of a Loschmidt amplitude whose perturbation is parameterized by an angular variable $φ$. This formulation allows us to define a spectral propagator that encodes the entire complexity distribution, which we characterize for specific types of systems. We study the two-dimensional quantum geometry spanned by time and $φ$ where the original and deformed trajectories reside, demonstrating that Krylov complexity is upper-bounded by its volume. We also express the time derivative of Krylov complexity in terms of a distinct Loschmidt amplitude. Depending on the growth of the Lanczos coefficients, the perturbation term in this amplitude can be truncated. We propose that the strength of this perturbation provides a classification scheme for Krylov complexity dynamics and relate it to the $φ$-derivative of the spectral propagator. Using this analytical framework, we derive general relations between the time-dependence of the survival amplitude and Krylov space measures.

The one-loop effective Lagrangian of quantum electrodynamics for dyons (dQED) with a $U(1) \times U(1)$ gauge symmetry is derived using the Schwinger proper-time method. We identify the analog of the Schwinger pair-production limit and compute the corresponding nonlinear equations of motion. The electromagnetic response of the model is analyzed by linearizing the equations of motion around a purely magnetic background. From the resulting plane-wave solutions, we obtain the effective permittivity and permeability tensors, along with the associated dispersion relations and refractive indices for parallel and perpendicular polarization modes. The refractive indices involve hybrid superpositions of both gauge sectors, as illustrated in the symmetric case $q_{(1)} = q_{(2)}$. In this background, the model exhibits vacuum birefringence, indicating that the quantum vacuum behaves as an anisotropic medium. All results consistently reduce to the standard Euler-Heisenberg predictions of QED when the magnetic charge vanishes.

We study a four-qubit product-EPR holographic code whose reconstructing region contains matter and one leg of a geometry bond. Seven deformations compare local, bipartite, bond-stabilizing, and bond-moving operators. Exact spectra show that only matter-controlled bond motion produces a leading quadratic logical-state dependence of the boundary entropy. We select one state-independent physical recovery by optimizing coherent information of the channel Choi state. A separate semidefinite program maximizes entanglement fidelity over all channels. At fixed coupling the physical recovery attains that optimum to numerical precision, while recovered-entropy subtraction leaves a nonzero variational proto-area response. Total stabilizer Renyi magic is also nonzero for deformations with no boundary response, so it does not characterize the effect. Projecting the exact stabilizer-Renyi quadratic form away from pairwise Pauli tangents defines a leading-order boundary witness. Its global convex minimum is positive for the bond-moving deformation and zero for the six comparisons. For the reference-matter-geometry resource partition, however, pairwise tangents span the full projective tangent space at the product-EPR base, so the witness vanishes for every Hermitian deformation. A two-bound extension retains this degeneracy but exhibits a split-geometry structural residual and a logical-state-dependent cut switch. These results establish a finite-code witness, not a universal magic law or continuum gravitational dynamics.

We develop a microscopic quantum membrane paradigm from the matrix quantum mechanics of black holes [1]. It was proposed that a quantum black hole is described by a fuzzy sphere together with a half-filled Fermi sea of horizon partons. We show that the topology of the fuzzy sphere induces a Berry monopole, providing a microscopic origin for the monopole appearing in the tunneling description of the decay of quantum black hole. Because the partons couple to the fuzzy sphere as fundamental degrees of freedom, they are sensitive to this monopole and form Lowest-Landau-Level (LLL) states rather than ordinary propagating two-dimensional fermions. Their guiding-center dynamics generates Ohmic, Hall, and polarization currents on the horizon. To couple these currents to an external electromagnetic field, we introduce a two-block matrix configuration comprising black-hole, environmental, and bifundamental link sectors. Off-diagonal link modes become tachyonic near the fuzzy sphere and condense, dynamically locking the horizon gauge field to the boundary value of the external Maxwell field. The parton current thereby becomes a physical boundary source for the exterior field. Our construction replaces the fictitious membrane of the classical paradigm with a dynamical quantum membrane populated by microscopic LLL degrees of freedom. The resulting boundary condition generalizes the classical ingoing membrane condition and yields explicit quantum, frequency-dependent, and helicity-dependent corrections, offering a possible probe of the microscopic quantum structure of the horizon.

We investigate the angular eigenvalue problem of the extreme charged C-metric. In the extreme limit ($Q \to M$), the governing differential equation degenerates from a Fuchsian equation with five regular singular points into a Confluent Extended Heun Equation. To evaluate the angular spectrum analytically, we formulate a decoupling limit within the dual four-dimensional $\mathcal{N}=2$, $\mathrm{SU(2)}\times \mathrm{SU(2)}$ linear quiver gauge theory. Within this framework, we derive the parameter dictionary and renormalized Matone relations, which absorb the macroscopic residue shifts induced by the singularity fusion. Based on the regular boundary conditions of the angular equation, we utilize the instanton counting method to establish an algebraic quantization condition, yielding angular eigenvalues consistent with numerical results.

We establish a localization principle for odd-dimensional supergravity theories containing Chern--Simons interactions. Our construction relies on combining an equivariant extension of the gauge-invariant part of the action with an equivariant completion of the Chern--Simons anomaly form $Φ^{(\text{anom})}$ to form a relative equivariant cohomology class. This leads to a universal fixed point formula for the on-shell action of supersymmetric solutions that is expressed in terms of $Φ^{(\text{anom})}$ and an equivariant Euler class. We illustrate the formalism in $D=11$ and $D=5$ supergravity, with applications including the supersymmetric Casimir energy and superconformal index of M5-branes, as well as black ring and black lens solutions.

We investigated kink-antikink collisions in a $(1+1)$-dimensional $φ^8$ scalar field theory with multiple degenerate vacua. We presented explicit soliton solutions for different vacuum structures characterized by the ratio $n = p_2/p_1$. We focused on the cases $n=2$ and $n=3$ with four distinct vacua, and performed systematic numerical simulations across all topological sectors. We revealed that there is a complete annihilation regime in the $(1/2,\,1)$ sector, where kink-antikink pairs annihilate for all initial velocities. Up to our knowledge, such phenomenon is first reported in the kink antikink collisions. We revealed a comprehensive fractal cartography of multi-bounce resonance windows across sectors $(-1,\,-1/2)$, $(-1,\,-1/3)$, and $(-1/3,\,1/3)$. Given the kink antikink ($K\bar{K}$, or $\bar{K}K$) ordering, the effective potential and the spectrum of the Schrödinger like equation were presented. By collecting all the effective potential and collision phenomena, we proposed that the effective potential classification scheme provides a predictive framework for collision outcomes including escape, bion formation, sector change, and annihilation. Especially, it is identified that, when soliton pairs pass through each other, the abrupt changes of the potential type could explain both the sector-change and annihilation phenomena. Our work highlight novel dynamical features of the $φ^8$ model absent in lower-order field theories, and establish connections between topological structure, vibrational modes, and effective potentials.

Different diagnostics of black hole thermodynamic branch structure do not always identify the same local event. We examine this issue in charged AdS black hole examples where a thermodynamic topological phase transition is known to occur. In these examples, previously reported in [JHEP 06 (2024) 213}], the inverse temperature $τ_a$ at which the total topological number changes is separated from the inverse temperature $τ_b$ at which the fixed charge parameter branch response considered here becomes singular. Reanalyzing the same zero point branch geometry, we find that the two diagnostics track different local structures. The change at $τ_a$ is a boundary membership and index flow event of the positive radius physical branch set: a zero point with nonzero winding enters or leaves the counted domain. The singularity at $τ_b$ is instead caused by a turning point at finite radius, where a pair of branches annihilates. Since the two branches carry opposite windings, this event changes the branch count but preserves the total topological number. Thus, in the analyzed examples, the thermodynamic topological phase transition and the branch response singularity are distinct diagnostics of the same zero point branch geometry, with different local origins.

In this paper, we investigate five-dimensional $\mathcal{N} = 1$ supersymmetric $SO(2N)$ gauge theories coupled to hypermultiplets in spinor/conjugate spinor representation based on 5-brane web constructions with O5-planes. Based on the topological vertex formalism with O5-plane, we find new expressions for the partition functions for these theories, emphasizing the difference between the case with two spinors and that with one spinor and one conjugate spinor. Through the thermodynamic limit of these partition functions, we derive the Cameral and Seiberg-Witten curves. We show that the difference between the spinor and the conjugate spinor appears as a difference in the boundary conditions of the Seiberg-Witten curves at the orientifold planes.

I formulate black-hole-horizon-induced decoherence of charged branch codes as the leading-soft QED restricted to an exterior algebra, formulated as an open quantum system. The fixed-history Feynman--Vernon identity ${\cal F}[J,J]=1$ remains exact. Decoherence enters through the unequal-history influence factor that survives exterior monitoring and belongs to the complementary horizon output. In the coherent eikonal regime, I derive the completely positive Schur channel $({\cal E}_H^{(0)}ρ)_{ab}=\langleΦ_b^{H,(0)}|Φ_a^{H,(0)}\rangle \, ρ_{ab}$. The leading soft input is the eikonal factor, projected onto the horizon radiative algebra. The channel yields Gram-positivity constraints, an exterior quantum-eraser bound, finite-time non-Markovianity tests, soft/hard scaling criteria, and a charged-qutrit interferometer measuring a leading-soft Bargmann holonomy. The holonomy phase is the rephasing-invariant symplectic area of a triangle in horizon soft phase space. I show that its orientation, common-mode, triangulation, and completely positive determinant identities render falsifiable tests beyond pairwise two-path visibility.

We consider the possibility of dark matter in a warped extra-dimensional theory in presence of a linear dilaton background, with a gapped continuum spectrum, in a brane-world cosmological scenario. Firstly, triggered by self-energy radiative corrections, we study the existence of an isolated resonance of massive gravitons, and its realization as a long-lived feebly interacting dark matter candidate, produced by the freeze-in mechanism. This massive graviton is proved to satisfy all theoretical and experimental constraints, in the sub-MeV mass range. We further consider the close relationship between the existence of this component of dark matter and the presence of an inflaton localized on the brane, with a mass around $10^{11}$ GeV and a sub-TeV reheating temperature, in a brane inflationary scenario that allows to reproduce the most recent cosmological observables. Secondly, the gapped continuum of gravitons, a particular five dimensional realization of the physics of unparticles, is identified as a holographic fluid which can play the role of holographic dark matter. The production of the holographic fluid goes by an ultra-violet freeze-in mechanism, with an abundance mainly depending on the reheating temperature. Depending on the values of the mass gap and the reheating temperature, one or both components of dark matter can be present.

We show that Airy function partition functions for M2-brane theories may be derived from relative equivariant localization of quantum M-theory. The eleven-dimensional Chern--Simons coupling gives the cubic term in the grand potential, while the $X_8$ correction gives the charge shift. Fixing the M2-brane charge turns the localized M-theory path integral into an Airy integral. In this way we derive the ABJM result, its toric Calabi--Yau generalizations, and gravitational blocks for black holes and other spacetimes, up to the prefactor and non-perturbative corrections.

This work investigates the thermodynamic behavior of deformed AdS-Schwarzschild black holes by incorporating higher-order corrections within non-interacting spacetime models and extended entropy frameworks. To address the inadequacies of classical statistical mechanics in describing gravitational systems with non-local and long-range interactions, we employ non-extensive entropy formalisms, specifically Tsallis and Barrow entropies, which capture quantum-scale deviations and extended correlations. The resulting thermodynamic analysis reveals significant departures from conventional black hole behavior under strong entropy deformations. Notably, as the degree of non-extensivity decreases, the system asymptotically recovers classical features, indicating an emergent universality across statistical regimes. Furthermore, the Joule-Thomson (JT) expansion is examined to analyze the temperature-pressure response during adiabatic processes. Key thermodynamic quantities, including mass, temperature, heat capacity, Gibbs free energy, enthalpy, internal energy, and the JT coefficient, are computed under the influence of non-extensive entropy corrections. These results provide deeper insight into black hole thermodynamics in quantum-corrected spacetimes and offer new avenues for exploring gravitational systems beyond the traditional Bekenstein-Hawking (BH) framework.

We study the error-correcting properties of pure-state holographic geometries, in which mixed boundary subregions are replaced, via the surface/state correspondence, by the Ryu--Takayanagi (RT) geodesic bounding their entanglement wedges. In AdS$_3$/CFT$_2$ we derive a cross-ratio threshold relation $η'/η= e^{ΔH/2}$ for the connected/disconnected transition of the entanglement wedge when two holes are punched in such a geometry. The quantity $ΔH$ is sourced entirely by geodesics ending on RT boundaries. It shifts the standard two-interval threshold $η= 1/2$, and we classify when its sign is fixed by the pattern of hole endpoints. Turning to code properties, we show that the recursive hole-punching underlying uberholography cannot start within an RT-boundary, while an untouched asymptotic boundary can still fractalize, and we find numerically that in the configurations we study it does so with the universal fractal dimension $α\approx 0.786$. The resulting upper bounds on price and distance are nevertheless procedure dependent. In the configurations we study, punching holes on the asymptotic boundary while retaining the RT-boundary yields strictly tighter bounds than first tracing out the RT-boundary and then fractalizing.

We study three-dimensional Einstein gravity with negative cosmological constant on non-compact spatial boundaries within the Chern-Simons formulation. Using an exact fluid/gravity correspondence, we derive a closed radial flow equation for the quasi-local stress tensor and show that it realizes the holographic $T\bar T$ deformation at finite cutoff. We further develop the inverse-scattering description of the boundary dynamics, identifying the gravitational interpretation of the associated spectral data and analyzing the finite-cutoff deformation of soliton solutions. Although the boundary evolution is governed by an integrable bi-Hamiltonian hierarchy, we show that the radial flow itself is not Hamiltonian with respect to the canonical Poisson structure. Our results establish a unified framework connecting integrability, quasi-local gravitational observables, inverse scattering, and finite-cutoff holography on non-compact boundaries.

Higgs Branches of 5d SCFTs are hyperkähler cones, symplectic varieties with interesting nested singularities governing the structure of possible Higgs branch RG flows. The main purpose of this note is to investigate 5d Higgs Branches via a geometric route: we study 5d SCFTs geometrically engineered from M-theory on non-compact Calabi-Yau threefolds, with non-isolated singularities. We match the (dynamical) complex structure deformations of the threefold with the symplectic leaves in the Higgs branch of the 5d SCFT, constructing its stratification purely relying on geometry. Consistency checks for our proposal are presented exploiting magnetic quivers.

We review existing and construct new two-dimensional field theories that exhibit BMS$_3$ symmetry, with and without central extensions. These include interacting electric, magnetic and canonical BMS$_3$ scalar theories, as well as couplings between the electric and magnetic sectors. We provide a careful analysis of boundary contributions at the corner points $u\rightarrow\pm\infty$, determine the counterterms and boundary conditions required by BMS$_3$ invariance, and study the corresponding variational principles. Furthermore, we introduce external sources and derive the associated flux-balance laws. Within the framework of flat-space holography, we show that a simple free electric BMS$_3$ model with the appropriate central charge reproduces the monodromy classification of three-dimensional Einstein gravity. Finally, we investigate the flat-space limits of both AdS$_3$ and dS$_3$, whose boundary dynamics are described by Carrollian limits of Liouville and Euclidean Liouville theory, respectively. Although the resulting BMS$_3$ theories possess isomorphic spectra, they differ in the signs of the supertranslation charges and the central charge. This suggests that the flat-space limits of AdS$_3$ and dS$_3$ provide complementary realizations of flat-space holography.

The Ding-Iohara-Miki (DIM) algebra (quantum toroidal algebra of $\widehat{gl_1}$) is related to a wide class of quantum many-particle integrable systems, a typical one being the Ruijsenaars trigonometric system with eigenfunctions that are a triad formed by the Noumi-Shiraishi power series, the Macdonald polynomials, and the Baker-Akhiezer multivariable function. Other integrable systems of this type are obtained from the Ruijsenaars system by twisting. At the same time, the Ruijsenaars Hamiltonians are directly related to the Hamiltonians of another quantum integrable system, the Cherednik DAHA Hamiltonians of type $A$ (and their twisted versions in the twisted case), due to the correspondence between the DIM algebra and the spherical DAHA. The eigenfunctions of the DAHA Hamiltonians are non-symmetric Macdonald polynomials. Similarly, there is a class of integrable DAHA Hamiltonians of type $C^\vee C$, the spherical version of which, in turn, allows one to generate integrable Koornwinder Hamiltonians. The eigenfunctions of these two integrable systems are, respectively, non-symmetric and symmetric Koornwinder polynomials, which are our main interest in this paper. Here we consider the cases of both type $A$ and type $C^\vee C$ systems, since they are sufficiently similar, and point out important distinctions between them.

We investigate the Casimir response of a massive scalar field in a torsionless helicoidal spacetime with Levi-Civita connection. The background is ultrastatic and curved, with scalar curvature \(R=-2Ω^2\), and its off-diagonal metric component induces a geometric coupling between angular and axial quantum numbers. We show that individual modes exhibit a linear helicoidal splitting, whereas the linear contribution cancels in the nonchiral vacuum sum. The leading Casimir correction is therefore quadratic in the twist and defines a helicoidal vacuum susceptibility after local ultraviolet subtractions. For a cylindrical Dirichlet cavity, we compute this scheme-defined susceptibility and the associated correction to the radial Casimir force. The results identify torsionless helicoidal geometry as a controlled setting in which mode-level chirality produces a finite quadratic response of vacuum fluctuations.

While vacuum decay is traditionally described by Euclidean instanton methods, lattice simulations enable real-time modeling of dynamical observables relevant to cosmology and upcoming cold-atom analog experiments. We investigate the relationship between these approaches by extracting ensemble-averaged bubble profiles from zero-temperature simulations of a relativistic scalar field. Our observed profiles differ markedly from the bare Coleman bounce and classical thermal predictions. However, we find that instanton solutions in an appropriately renormalized potential reproduce both the measured profiles and their dependence on the UV cutoff, and predict decay rates consistent with simulations across the parameter range considered. The fact that a single renormalized Euclidean object captures these independent observables provides strong evidence that renormalization accounts for the discrepancy between the two formalisms, and establishes a quantitative link between instanton predictions, lattice simulations, and forthcoming empirical tests of vacuum decay.

Soft de Sitter Effective Theory is a well-motivated candidate for the correct effective late-time description of equal-time correlation functions in de Sitter space. In this work, we study its application to theories that enjoy classical conformal invariance, using the conformally-coupled $φ^4$-theory as a toy model. While quantum effects generate non-trivial late-time dynamics in such models, we argue that it is not described by the standard construction of the effective theory as discussed thus far in the literature. We show that the tree-level matching of the trispectrum onto the effective theory does not fit into the expected power-counting scheme, and we contrast it with the matching of the tree-level bispectrum in the conformally-coupled $φ^3$-theory, where it works consistently. We then propose a prescription to identify the leading superhorizon degrees of freedom in such theories, which should serve as the starting point for the construction of their late-time effective description. The interpretation of logarithms of the form $\log(-kη)$ in this context is briefly discussed.

Wilson loop operators in Chern-Simons theory have revealed profound links between quantum field theory, the fractional quantum Hall effect, topology, conformal field theory, and string theory. In Chern-Simons theories with charge conjugation symmetry, we construct a new class of observables: codimension-two monodromy defects around which fields return to themselves up to charge conjugation. Whereas Wilson loops are labeled by integrable representations of an untwisted affine Lie algebra, monodromy defects are labeled by those of the corresponding twisted affine algebra. The modular and fusion data of these two algebras determine the exact correlation functions of Wilson lines and monodromy defects, which together furnish a $\mathbb{Z}_2$-crossed braided tensor category. The spectrum of line defects in Chern-Simons theory thus gives a physical realization of every algebra in Kac's classification of affine Lie algebras: untwisted for Wilson loops, twisted for monodromy defects. We also determine the exact 't Hooft expansion of monodromy defects in $SU(N)_k$ Chern-Simons theory and identify their holographic duals in topological string theory. The insertion of the lightest monodromy defect has a striking effect: it replaces the resolved conifold background of the Gopakumar-Vafa duality by a specific orientifold of the resolved conifold, transmuting the dual theory of oriented strings into one of unoriented strings. Each excited monodromy defect is then realized as a collection of branes in the orientifold background, with the brane content determined by the representation of the twisted affine algebra that labels the defect.

We review recent progress in understanding certain aspects of condensed matter systems from a high energy theory perspective. We discuss effective field theories that describe collective bulk and localized excitations in a variety of solid and fluid systems. Particular emphasis is placed on the role played by spacetime symmetries and their spontaneous breaking. The resulting Goldstone dynamics can be seen as underlying a wide variety of phenomena. We attempt to bridge the language gap between subfields while underscoring the numerous conceptual similarities.

Five-dimensional $\mathcal{N}=1$ superconformal field theories admit a rich variety of generalised global symmetries, including higher-form symmetries, 2-group symmetries, and their 't$~$Hooft anomalies. We show that this data can be extracted directly from the blow-up equations that govern the instanton partition functions of such theories on the $Ω$-background. The central object is the classical prefactor $\exp(-V_n)$ that weights each magnetic flux on the blown-up geometry: evaluated on a background for the electric 1-form symmetry, the fractional parts of its exponents encode the cubic self-anomaly of the 1-form symmetry, as well as its mixed anomalies with the instanton, flavour, gravitational, and $\mathrm{SU}(2)_R$ symmetries. Combined with the faithful continuous global symmetry of the ultraviolet fixed point, which we determine from the superconformal index, the same data decides whether the theory possesses a 2-group symmetry or a mixed 't$~$Hooft anomaly. We illustrate the method in gauge theories, including $\mathrm{SU}(4)$ and $\mathrm{USp}(4)$ with antisymmetric hypermultiplets, and $\mathrm{Spin}(7)$ and $\mathrm{Spin}(8)$ with vector hypermultiplets, as well as in several families of non-Lagrangian theories, for which we obtain new results: notably, the effective prepotentials of the $B_N$ and $B_N^{(1,2,3)}$ families, the cubic 1-form anomalies of the rank-two theories $\mathbb{P}^2\cup\mathbb{F}_3$ and $\mathbb{P}^2\cup\mathbb{F}_6$, and several mixed anomalies involving the 1-form and flavour symmetries.

We study gauge dependence in proper-time renormalisation group flows for asymptotically safe quantum gravity. Working in an essential scheme, we use field redefinitions to separate redundant off-shell contributions from the on-shell running of physical couplings. We consider two approximations: in the first, we work on general backgrounds and project onto all terms with up to four derivatives, neglecting boundary terms; in the second, we work on a maximally symmetric background and retain all orders in the Ricci scalar. Although the flow equation depends on the gauge parameters, this dependence can be cancelled order by order once the redundant terms are absorbed by field redefinitions. In the four-derivative approximation, the dependence on the retained gauge parameter drops out of the beta function for Newton's constant to third order in the coupling. On the sphere, the flow becomes independent of both parameters of the general gauge to all curvature orders, and all orders in the coupling. Crucially, this cancellation depends on the choice of regulator. We verify the mechanism explicitly at one loop, where the gauge-dependent fluctuation contributions are cancelled by the ghost sector on shell. The resulting essential flow displays a gauge-independent non-Gaussian fixed point, supporting the interpretation that universal information in quantum gravity is encoded in the on-shell essential sector.

Berends--Giele currents have recently attracted renewed attention across the amplitude community, appearing in new contexts ranging from gravitational amplitudes to cosmological correlators and string theory. They can be derived from first principles using the perturbiner method, a thirty-year-old framework that organizes tree-level scattering data in the form of classical multi-particle solutions to field theory equations of motion. After its rediscovery about a decade ago, it has been systematically studied and applied in many different contexts. This review aims to provide a pedagogical introduction to the method, covering its basic formulation across a broad (but certainly not exhaustive) range of models and progressing to some of the most recent findings in the literature. This includes several unpublished results, many of which represent tacit knowledge of the community that has not previously appeared in print.

I construct a microscopic ADHM/chiral-Wishart representative of the reduced charge-sector coefficient $W_ν[b]$ that enters the Type-IIB axion--dilaton wormhole partition function $Z_{\rm wh}(θ;b)$. I fix the axion-charge sector, equivalently the form-field-flux sector, which plays the exact same structural role as a fixed-topology sector in QCD: it supplies the domain where I compute the microscopic coefficient before forming the final theta sum. At $E=0$, the axion--dilaton radial family reaches its BPS instanton endpoint. After I impose the Hamiltonian constraint, gauge quotient, charge-sector boundary condition, and collective zero-mode quotient, the physical quadratic fluctuation operator at that endpoint becomes a positive adjoint square. Its non-zero spectrum is therefore a squared singular-value spectrum, and its microscopic endpoint is a Laguerre/chiral hard edge. The D(-1)/D3 super-ADHM collective-coordinate integral supplies the Type-IIB microscopic representative of this same coefficient. In the large$N$ result of Dorey et al., this super-ADHM measure becomes the $k$-D-instanton measure on $AdS_5\times S^5$, multiplied by a centered zero-dimensional supersymmetric matrix-model factor. The chiral/Wishart ensemble forms the hard-edge limit of the rectangular block inside this super-ADHM integral. Fermionic ADHM variables and supergravity fermions remain part of the coefficient: in protected sectors they cancel paired non-zero modes, impose zero-mode saturation, and determine which reduction data \(b\) give a non-vanishing $W_ν[b]$.

We have investigated a fermionic system from the perspective of an effective quantum field theory defined on a nontrivial topology in the presence of an external magnetic field. Using the proper-time representation, we obtained one-loop expressions for the corresponding effective Lagrangian, taking into account all Landau levels in the propagator. We also computed the significant boundary-induced contributions to the system's magnetization. To verify the reliability of our results, we examined the limit of zero temperature and infinite spatial extent, which correctly reproduces the celebrated Schwinger result.

We study in detail a recent proposal stating that M-theory observables arising from the quantisation of M2-branes are naturally computed in a fixed $A_3$ ensemble. In a holographic setting this implies that in a semiclassical approximation 11d bulk observables in an asymptotically AdS$_4$ background are computed in a grand canonical ensemble of fixed chemical potential $μ$ conjugate to the integer $N$ determining the rank of the gauge group in the dual CFT. We provide detailed precision tests of holography in the fixed $μ$ ensemble by focusing on the two leading terms in the derivative expansion of the 11d theory. In addition, we study one-loop logarithmic corrections which we compute in detail. For asymptotically AdS$_4\times S^7/\mathbf{Z}_k$ 11d backgrounds our results are in agreement with supersymmetric localisation calculations in the dual ABJM SCFT. Moreover, we employ the logarithmic corrections in the $μ$ ensemble to determine the measure of the integral Laplace transform and use this to compute dual SCFT supersymmetric partition functions, like the superconformal index and the squashed $S^3$ partition function, to all orders in the perturbative $1/N$ expansion in terms of Airy functions in harmony with results and conjectures in the dual SCFT.

Within the framework of Becchi-Rouet-Stora-Tyutin (BRST) formalism, we invoke the beauty of the basic canonical (anti)commutators to prove the nilpotency property of the Noether (anti-)BRST charges for the D-dimensional BRST-quantized version of the free Abelian 2-form gauge theory which is endowed with a non-trivial Curci-Ferrari (CF) type restriction. In this proof, we use only the theoretical strength of the Gauss divergence theorem. We demonstrate that, under the off-shell nilpotent (anti-)BRST symmetry transformations, the Noether conserved (anti-)BRST charges are not invariant and they are also found to be not off-shell nilpotent (if we exploit the standard relationship between the continuous symmetry transformations and their generators as the Noether conserved charges). However, these charges become (anti-)BRST invariant and nilpotent if we use (i) the appropriate equations of motion at suitable places, and (ii) the Gauss divergence theorem. We derive the consistently modified versions of the Noether (anti-)BRST charges which are invariant under the off-shell nilpotent (anti-)BRST transformations. We prove the (anti-)BRST invariance of these modified versions of charges by using the basic canonical (anti)commutators, too. We discuss the physicality criteria w.r.t. (i) the conserved Noether (anti-)BRST charges, and (ii) the modified (anti-)BRST invariant versions of the Noether (anti-)BRST charges. We prove the superiority of the latter over the former (in view of the consistency with the Dirac quantization conditions for the gauge theories).

We construct a correspondence between a broad class of unitary matrix models and vacuum correlation functions in quantum spin-chain Hilbert spaces. The key step is to lift symmetric functions to operators acting on the $N$-magnon sector in a way that preserves the relevant ring structure. For any unitary matrix model whose integrand admits a factorized expansion in symmetric functions, the Schur orthogonality of the unitary group integral is then translated into the inner product of quantized Schur states. We illustrate the construction for the Gross--Witten--Wadia model, superconformal indices of $\mathcal{N}=4$ super Yang--Mills theory with classical gauge groups, and Toda tau functions. The resulting operator formulation provides a unified algebraic bridge between unitary matrix integrals, quantum integrable systems and symmetric function theory.
