We study the SCFT/VOA correspondence for the $(A_2,D_{3n-2})$ Argyres--Douglas theories with $n\geq2$. From the matching of the central charges and the equality of the Schur index with the vacuum supercharacter to all orders, we propose that the associated VOA is the logarithmic doublet algebra $\mathcal A(4n-2)$ of Feigin, Feigin, and Tipunin. For $n=2$, this correspondence was studied in detail by Buican and Nishinaka, and our proposal extends it to $n\geq3$. Using the Nahm sum expression for the vacuum supercharacter, we further propose a family of 3d $\mathcal N=2$ abelian Chern--Simons matter theories that flow to the 3d $\mathcal N=4$ SCFTs obtained by the R-twisted circle reduction, generalizing the $n=2$ construction. We determine the monopole superpotential and show that the Coulomb branch is $\mathbb C^2/\mathbb Z_2$ for every $n$. The superconformal index provides quantitative evidence for the proposed infrared fixed points, including the expected enhancement to $\mathcal N=4$ supersymmetry and the Higgs and Coulomb branch structure.

We study general holographic fluctuation equations with apparent singularities, and the associated spectral functions. We consider the regime where an apparent singularity approaches the boundary, for which the near-boundary behavior of solutions can be determined via an inner/outer matching type of calculation. Depending on properties of the equation, we find that the merging of an apparent singularity with the boundary may generate either a zero or a pole for the corresponding spectral function. Our results also indicate that the recently introduced holographic product formula still applies in the presence of apparent singularities.

The late-time ringdown dynamics of near-extremal black holes (BHs) are expected to be dominated by zero-damped modes (ZDMs), whose decay rates are parametrically suppressed relative to those of ordinary quasinormal modes. In this paper, we demonstrate that exact WKB methods provide an exceptionally powerful framework for analyzing the ZDM spectrum of near-extremal Reissner--Nordström (RN) BHs. Focusing on massless, neutral scalar modes propagating on an RN background, we present the full Stokes geometry derived from the radial eigenvalue problem and establish the corresponding exact quantization condition (EQC). Our analytic computation of the Voros symbols entering the EQC achieves higher-order accuracy for the ZDM spectrum compared to previous studies and is systematically improvable. Ergo, this work serves as a proof of concept for investigations of ZDM spectra of other systems using exact WKB methods.

We study an infinite family of strongly coupled four-dimensional $\mathcal N=2$ superconformal field theories (SCFTs) distinguished by a trivial Higgs branch, known as the $(A_2,D_{3m+1})$ Argyre-Douglas theories. We propose that their associated vertex operator algebras (VOAs) are the doublet algebras $\mathcal A(4m+2)$, an infinite family of non-rational vertex operator superalgebras with a remarkably simple strong generating set of only three fields. We provide several highly nontrivial checks of this proposal. In particular, we reproduce the four-dimensional conformal anomalies $a$ and $c$ from the VOA and analytically prove the exact equality between the Schur index of the SCFT and the supercharacter of the VOA. A key ingredient is a diagonal-gauging realization of the $(A_2,D_{3m+1})$ theories in terms of two simpler building blocks, which makes the Schur-index computation tractable. Remarkably, we find that the resulting Schur index of the $(A_2,D_{3m+1})$ theory coincides with that of $\mathcal N=4$ $SU(2)$ Super-Yang-Mills theory, up to an overall prefactor and an appropriate identification of fugacities. We also discuss a generalization to the two-parameter family $(A_{2s},D_{(2s+1)m+1})$, whose members likewise have trivial Higgs branches and admit diagonal-gauging realizations. A particularly interesting subfamily is $(A_{2s},D_{2s+2})$, for which the four-dimensional conformal anomalies coincide, $a=c$. Our results reveal a systematic connection between Higgsless SCFTs, diagonal gauging, and strongly finite but non-rational vertex operator algebras.

We identify a memory effect produced by phonon scattering in a superfluid: a localized scattering event generates a far-field pressure pulse with vanishing time integral but a nonzero first temporal moment, corresponding to a permanent shift in a prepotential for the far-field velocity. The effect is controlled by the soft factor for phonon emission, including corrections from nonlinear dispersion. In superfluid $^4$He, scattering macroscopic phonon wave packets produces a signal whose estimated magnitude may lie within experimental reach, thereby providing a laboratory analogue of electromagnetic and gravitational memory.

We introduce a family of effective theories and use them to define a specific type of coarse-grained models for canonical loop quantum gravity. Each effective theory is characterized by two parameters and it consists mainly of a Hilbert space of coarse states and an effective Hamiltonian operator. The construction of the coarse Hilbert spaces relies on a systematic coarse-graining procedure for spin network states. The effective Hamiltonians are then obtained from an analysis of the interplay between this coarse-graining procedure and the action of various Hamiltonian operators defined in loop quantum gravity. Finally, we provide a prescription for implementing the Hamiltonian non-perturbative renormalization framework for the coarse-grained models, and we explicitly write down the renormalization flow equations. The aim of this work is to build an arena for studying the emergence of the continuum limit and the derivation of phenomenological models in the context of canonical loop quantum gravity.

We study the free energy of the critical $O(N)$ vector model at large $N$ on $S^{1}\times S^{2}$ with an angular velocity $\hatμ$ without the singlet constraint. The leading high-temperature behaviour is determined analytically both as an expansion about $\hatμr=0$ and $\hatμ^{2}r^{2}=1$ where $r$ is the radius of the sphere. We supplement the analytic results with a numerical analysis that agrees with both the analytical expansions in their respective regimes and smoothly interpolates between them. The leading high-temperature contribution to the free energy develops a pole at $\hatμ^{2}r^{2}=1$, in agreement with expectations from the thermal effective field theory. Its residue coincides with that of the massless free theory. Sub-leading terms, however, exhibit non-analytic dependence on the angular velocity and distinguish the critical fixed-point result from the free theory answer. The residue at the pole can also be obtained by placing the $O(N)$ model on the pp-wave geometry. We show that the residue agrees with that obtained from the direct computation.

We study holographic subregion complexity (HSC) across a fully backreacted insulator/superconductor transition in an AdS-soliton background and compare it with holographic entanglement entropy (HEE) and holographic complexity based on the complexity=volume (CV) proposal. Both HSC and HEE signal the second-order transition. For a strip subsystem, competing connected and disconnected Ryu-Takayanagi surfaces give rise to a confinement/deconfinement transition. At fixed chemical potential in the superconducting phase, HSC exhibits a finite jump at the critical width, whereas HEE remains continuous. Beyond this width, HSC grows linearly with the strip width, while HEE is constant. At fixed strip width, HSC first decreases and then increases with chemical potential for $\ell<\ell_c$, opposite to HEE, but increases monotonically for $\ell>\ell_c$. After consistent normalization and subtraction of the respective insulating references, the half-space HSC and CV complexity densities are analytically identical. These results show that HSC can diagnose the insulator/superconductor transition, but its qualitative response remains sensitive to the subsystem scale and entanglement-wedge topology.

We provide a comprehensive study of anomalies and discrete torsion in the worldsheet theories of Type II and Type I string theories on a general ten-dimensional target space. In the modern understanding, the anomaly of a worldsheet theory is characterized by an invertible field theory in three dimensions, and invertible field theories are classified by the Anderson dual of a suitable bordism theory. To study the anomaly cancellation condition, we employ the explicit model of the Anderson dual constructed by Yamashita and Yonekura. We find that, for both Type II and Type I string theories, the anomaly of the worldsheet theory is cancelled if and only if the target space is orientable and admits a spin structure. We also determine the discrete torsion and clarify its physical meaning. It includes the distinctions between Type IIA and Type IIB string theories and between ordinary Type I and Sugimoto string theories.

We investigate the quantum field dynamics of truncating a Majorana wave packet via a time-dependent channel shutter. Modeling truncation as a controlled modification of chiral propagation rather than a literal spatial cut, we analyze a $1+1$D massless Majorana field subjected to a time-dependent rotation between its chiral components. We demonstrate that this protocol manifests two complementary physical limits. Globally, a mismatch between early- and late-time channel identifications induces a fermionic Bogoliubov transformation. We prove this asymptotic change universally generates an infrared soft-mode memory, $β(ω, ν) \propto (ω+ν)^{-1}$, leading to a logarithmic divergence in the Hilbert--Schmidt norm. This orthogonality-catastrophe-like obstruction persists even under infinitely smooth switching in the massless limit. Conversely, in the number-conserving regime where pair production vanishes, the shutter acts as a purely causal filter. We establish exact local field identities showing that, restricted to the even local observable algebra, the retained sector is exactly equivalent to a single-particle state while the discarded sector reduces to the vacuum. Ultimately, we show that global infrared memory and local causal truncation are complementary diagnostics of the same dynamical operation. These results provide a rigorous field-theoretic foundation for time-dependent control in topological platforms, cleanly separating effective operational benchmarks from microscopic boundary dynamics.

We derive a $2d$ effective action for semi-classical AdS$_3$ gravity with an EOW brane of arbitrary tension by solving the radial Hamiltonian flow in a derivative expansion. Interpreting the radial flow as an RG flow, the effective theory is identified with a $T\bar T$-like deformed CFT. This leads us to propose that the holographic dual for semi-classical AdS$_3$ gravity with Neumann or conformal boundary conditions is obtained by setting the $T\bar T$-like deformed CFT free. We verify our proposal explicitly for saddles corresponding to $(A)dS_2$ branes in empty AdS$_3$. We discuss three useful ways to decompose the effective brane theory into a matter sector ($T\bar T$-deformed, $T\bar T$-like deformed, and undeformed CFT, respectively) and a corresponding braneworld gravity sector. In particular, the split into $T\bar T$-deformed CFT coupled to $T\bar T$-like deformed Liouville gravity directly extends the Liouville description of the integrated Weyl anomaly into the bulk. The effective action is then used to perform an island-rule calculation for a non-asymptotic brane in an AdS/bCFT set-up, finding exact agreement with the Ryu-Takayanagi result. This extends previous holographic checks on the island rule to non-asymptotic regimes of application, as well as provides a Wald entropy interpretation for $T\bar T$ entanglement. Finally, we relate our effective theory and its higher derivative corrections to AdS$_3$ gravity with a fluctuating radial cutoff by explicit calculation of the on-shell action.

First, we explicitly construct zero-modes of the Yang-Mills Faddeev-Popov operator in the presence of two parallel plates, with either perfect electric (PEC) or perfect magnetic (PMC) boundary conditions imposed. This establishes the existence of Gribov copies with finite action, and even finite L_2-norm, in Yang-Mills theory with non-trivial interfaces. We adapt Henyey's construction, although the boundary configuration imposes extra restrictions on the ansatz for the gauge field. Second, we discuss the phenomenon of an emergent boundary gauge invariance for PEC and PMC plates in Yang-Mills theory. This shall be important when applying the Gribov-Zwanziger procedure to parallel plate setups, of relevance for non-perturbatively studying the non-Abelian Casimir effect in the future.

The generalised symmetries, 't Hooft anomalies, and their interplay with maximal branches are analysed for linear unitary three-dimensional $\mathcal{N}\geq 3$ Chern-Simons Matter quiver theories realised in Type IIB brane configurations. The 1-form symmetry, its self-anomaly and its maximal anomaly-free subgroup are determined independently from Wilson-line screening and from the string lattice. Fractional monopole endpoints of the generating Gukov-Witten defect are used to extract the anomaly data, while centre charges of integer monopoles determine the faithful 0-form symmetry group, its connected cover and possible 2-group structures. Mixed anomalies with non-abelian 0-form factors are found to cancel in the linear unitary theories considered. The effect of 1-form gauging on maximal branches is related to frozen D3-brane sectors, which flow to Chern-Simons TQFTs whose anyonic lines obstruct the required defect endpoint. This yields a criterion for affected branches and implies that at most two can be affected simultaneously. In such a case, a magnetic-quiver extension by non-simply laced edges is proposed, wherein the 1-form symmetry and its mixed anomaly with the branch isometry are reproduced.

We introduce a two-coupling generalization of $\mathbb{C}P^{N-1}$ model that continuously interpolates between the self-dual ($ε=0$) and the physical ($ε=g$) theories as a useful nonperturbative tool. At $ε\neq g$, this model possesses a chiral imbalance, which may be viewed as a real topological deformation (imaginary-$θ$). We demonstrate that exact quantum equivalence between first- and second-order formulations strictly requires a topological counterterm sourced by a bosonic chiral anomaly. Solving this deformed theory at large $N$ yields two primary results. First, we analytically determine the nonperturbative vacuum structure of the self-dual theory, a self-dual vacuum with a dynamically generated field-strength condensate. Second, we resolve a fundamental paradox where saddles with $(θ+ 2πn) \sim O(N)$ ($n$ is branch number) spuriously yield lower energy densities than the physical ground state. Because the effective action possesses an essential singularity at $F=0$, we show that the Lefschetz thimble analysis must be generalized to include boundary thimbles. A boundary Stokes phenomenon renders the problematic saddles topologically inactive, fully restoring the validity of the large-$N$ expansion for strongly coupled theories.

We study admissible higher-spin algebras in four-dimensional Minkowski space, namely algebras that admit the tower of massless higher-spin fields as a representation. Under several simplifying assumptions, we show that these can be of two types, which we refer to as collinear and half-collinear. The chiral higher-spin algebra provides an example of the latter. For the collinear ansatz considered here, direct solution of the Jacobi identity yields two families of Lie algebras. We also find an associative collinear algebra, which is commutative unless internal degrees of freedom are added.

We construct the Carrollian limit of the Cortés--Plyushchay wave equations for planar anyons, grading the spin-tower components by powers of $c$ and taking the limit at fixed rest energy. The result is a linear system describing Carrollian particles of any real spin --- \emph{Carrollian anyons} --- and, at (half-)integer spin, Carrollian bosons, fermions and higher-spin fields. The system is a first-order square root of the standard Carroll wave equation $(\partial_t^2+E^2)Φ=0$, whose spectrum consists of two flat branches at plus and minus the rest energy. Scaling the spin along with $c$, in the Carrollian analogue of the Jackiw--Nair limit, yields instead the exotic Carroll algebra, with a second central charge, non-commuting boosts, and observable coordinates spanning a noncommutative plane. We show how the Galilean and Carrollian theories branch from one common similarity transformation: the Galilean limit expels the negative-energy modes, whereas the Carroll limit retains both relativistic branches.

On a compact connected section ${\cal S}$ of a supersymmetric $M$-horizon the Killing-spinor bilinears give a pointwise identity relating the warp factor $Δ$, the rotation one-form $h$ and the two spinor norms, with nothing assumed about the norm of the Killing spinor. We derive three consequences of that unreduced identity. First, a single-point rigidity theorem: if $Δ$ and $h$ vanish at one point of the section, then the flux vanishes identically, ${\cal S}$ is Ricci-flat and the horizon is $\mathbb{R}^{1,1}\times{\cal S}$. A single point replaces the usual global spinorial hypothesis. Second, the ${\rm Spin}(7)$ decomposition of the flux fixes $h$ algebraically and exhibits the invariant flux content of the scalar square $Δ=4Φ^2$ known in an adapted gauge, $Δ=\frac{1}{108}\|w_{\bf 7}\pmσ({\cal Y}_{\bf 7})\|^2$. Only the two ${\bf 7}$-summands $w_{\bf 7}$, ${\cal Y}_{\bf 7}$ reach the warp factor, and the square is degenerate rather than definite: it vanishes on the linear subspace $w_{\bf 7}=\mpσ({\cal Y}_{\bf 7})$ rather than at the origin, so positivity of $Δ$ yields no case list. Third, the two combine into a pointwise budget: the single constant of supersymmetry is shared between the deviation from staticity and the ${\rm Spin}(7)$ mismatch of the flux, each bounded by that constant. The same identities characterise the constancy hypothesis, equivalent to $V=-fh$ for the bilinear one-form $V$, which fails on the static branch of known warped $AdS_2$ solutions; they fix a weighted integral of the warp factor; and they reduce the Komar angular momentum of the horizon to a positive bilinear integral. Two no-go statements, for hidden symmetries built from the Killing spinor and for a second isometry from its bilinears, are stated with their hypotheses.

We investigate the dynamical behavior and spread complexity of quantum states within the mass-deformed BMN matrix model equipped with an emergent $U(1)$ global charge at finite temperature $β^{-1}$ and chemical potential $ν$. Focusing on the strong-coupling regime ($μ\gg 1$), we model the dynamics via a charged Thermofield Double (cTFD) state and trace the evolution of spread complexity across three distinct thermodynamic regimes. In the low-temperature gapped phase ($βμ\gg 1$), discrete mass-gap bound states dominate, trapping wavepacket dispersion and producing non-chaotic, oscillatory early-time growth. Conversely, in the high-temperature continuum phase ($βμ\ll 1$), thermal excitations overwhelm the mass gap, driving a transition to a continuous advection field that exhibits maximal chaotic scrambling with a Krylov Lyapunov exponent $λ_K = π/ β$ that saturates the universal bound. In the intermediate temperature regime ($βμ\sim 1, βν\sim 1$), the interplay between mass-gap bound states and the continuous thermal background induces a sub-leading correction to the Lanczos coefficients $b_n \sim \fracπβ n + γ\sqrt{n}$, governing a continuous sub-exponential crossover before full chaotic thermalization. Technical derivations regarding KMS boundary conditions, grand canonical spectral moments, residue analysis, and time-reversal symmetry breaking in Krylov space are detailed in four dedicated appendices.

We study a local constrained problem at matrix size $N=5$ in the Lorentzian IIB (IKKT) matrix model and numerically continue a one-dimensional physical modulus. For an exact fixed-$Q_ρ$ constrained solution family, the stationary identity implies constant classical action; the 23 accepted backgrounds realize this relation to the quoted precision. Across the sampled branch, the spectrum of the Lorentzian extent operator remains common to numerical precision while microscopic noncommutative invariants vary. We evaluate finite-dimensional one-loop fluctuations along this branch. At fixed bosonic background, the fermionic Grassmann integral is exact and gives $\operatorname{Pf}\mathcal M_F$; its magnitude is invariant under color-gauge and connected proper-Lorentz transformations and varies along the modulus. The complete boson--ghost--fermion quotient measure defines a Lorentz-representative-independent density one-form rather than a scalar potential. Thus quantum fluctuation data distinguish backgrounds unresolved by the coarse quadratic spectrum. We also apply a framed higher-$L$ SO(5) structural probe. At the reference background, the ordered $3+6$ spectral separation is larger at $L=2,3$ than at $L=1$, and larger still in the canonical large-$L$ limit. This is a frame-defined diagnostic, not an intrinsic observable or a higher-$N$ solution. The Pfaffian and higher-$L$ responses are closely correlated along the sampled branch, which we treat only as descriptive. These results suggest that microscopic noncommutative structure and quantum fluctuations may contain information relevant to dimensional dynamics, without establishing dimensional selection.

We introduce \emph{latent geometry} in BFSS/BMN models. Before an emergent geometry evaporates at the geometric transition, large-$d$ Gaussianization encodes its information in the exceptional $N=2$ sector selected by the baby fuzzy sphere, a single active spin-$1/2$ Pauli block. Dimensional reduction, finite-$N$ Gaussianization and exact Molien--Weyl projection transport this encoding to mass-deformed BFSS$_2$. At $N=2$, the same stable BFSS$_2$ oscillator admits inequivalent unitary $\mathbf{H}^2_θ=\mathbf{EAdS}^2_θ$ and $\mathbf{dS}^2_θ$ decodings, realizing spacetime transmutation and the emergence of Lorentzian time.

We study genuine multi-entropy in Abelian $U(1)_k$ Chern-Simons theory. For key-ring link states, where only the linking numbers between one distinguished component $K$ and the remaining $\mathtt{q}-1$ components are nonzero, we derive an exact closed-form expression for the $\mathtt{q}$-partite Rényi multi-entropy for general $\mathtt{q}$, level $k$, and Rényi index $n$. For $\mathtt{q}=4$, this shows that the genuine multi-entropy $\mathrm{GM}^{(4)}_n$ collapses exactly onto the tripartite information $I_{3,n}$ for all $n$, while for $\mathtt{q}=5$ it is likewise completely determined, for all $n$, by a linear combination of tripartite and bipartite Rényi multi-entropies. We then go beyond the key-ring class and study general four-component link states with arbitrary pairwise linking numbers. A numerical scan over Chern--Simons levels $2\leq k\leq24$ shows that the all-$n$ collapse found analytically for key-ring states does not survive for generic link states. Remarkably, the collapse remains exact at $n=2$ for every level examined. At $n=3$, violations occur, within the scanned range, only when $3\mid k$, with a further dependence on the $3$-adic valuation of $k$. At $n=4$ and $n=5$, violations occur for every level examined, with rates that vary strongly with $k$. These results show that the breakdown is not controlled simply by the zero-divisor structure of composite $\mathbb Z_k$, but instead exhibits a nontrivial joint dependence on the Rényi index and the arithmetic structure of the Chern--Simons level.

We study the holographic duality between free vector models and Higher-Spin Gravity in 4-dimensional de Sitter space. On both the bulk and boundary sides, we introduce new reality conditions, which allow us to include odd spins in the bulk, and to extend the duality from type-A to type-B (i.e. from boundary scalars to spinors). The new reality conditions are closely related to a higher-spin-symmetric Hilbert-space norm for the single-particle (super)multiplet in de Sitter space. We construct two alternative viewpoints on the type-A and type-B theories. In one view, the two co-exist in "parallel universes", specifically in even vs. odd antipodal identifications of de Sitter space. In the other view, type-A and type-B are Legendre-transformed descriptions of the same twistor-space theory in Euclidean AdS (this involves the observation that the higher-spin partition function is Legendre-dual to itself). In this way, higher-spin holography reconciles the two-boundary nature of de Sitter space with the one-boundary nature of Euclidean AdS. The supersymmetric theory that unifies type-A and type-B with bulk fermions fails to be consistent under the appropriate reality conditions.

The potential of $E_{8(8)} \times \mathbb{R}^+$ exceptional field theory, suited for studying three-dimensional maximally supersymmetric compactifications of higher-dimensional supergravities, is derived in teleparallel formulation. This means that, starting from an ansatz of the most general combination of the quadratic scalar contractions of the intrinsic torsion, which is manifestly invariant under generalised diffeomorphisms, one selects the potential by imposing the invariance under infinitesimal rotation of the maximal compact subgroup of the duality group. The teleparallel formulation makes manifest at geometric level the preeminent role of the intrinsic torsion in studying compactifications of higher-dimensional supergravities, where the intrinsic torsion is identified with the embedding tensor of the resulting gauged supergravity.

We give an all-level proof of the four-point $SU(2)$ AGT correspondence with four fundamental hypermultiplets at generic $β=-ε_1/ε_2$, by proving an all-level factorization formula for Selberg averages of generalized Jack polynomials. Taking a coefficientwise Jack limit of the generalized Macdonald Pieri rule, we obtain the required one-box matrix elements in the strict Cauchy dual basis. A rational corner-function identity then evaluates the sum over all parent double partitions, while an explicit total derivative of the Selberg kernel yields a triangular recursion on the Dotsenko-Fateev charge balance hyperplane. The unique solution of this recursion is the generalized Kadell formula previously verified only through finite level. Combining this result with the generalized Cauchy identity identifies each double partition term with the corresponding Nekrasov fixed-point contribution.

We construct Casimir operators of $4D, \,\mathcal{N}=2$ supersymmetry algebra in the harmonic superspace approach, and provide the explicit expressions for them in terms of covariant derivatives in the analytic basis. Specifically, the superisospin operator $C_I$ is expressed in terms of new 'long' harmonic derivatives $\nabla^{\pm\pm}, \nabla^0$ as $C_I = \frac{1}{4}\left(\nabla^0\right)^2 + \frac{1}{2}\left\{\nabla^{++},\nabla^{--}\right\}$. These derivatives involve non-local terms with the inverse Box operator $\Box^{-1}$ and satisfy modified $SU(2)$ algebra relations in which the eigenvalues of $\nabla^0$ on analytic superfields are shifted by -2 relative to the standard $U(1)$ harmonic charges. We also construct $\mathcal{N}=2$ superhelicity and super-isohelicity operators relevant to the massless case (with vanishing $\Box$) and find their eigenvalues for few instructive examples of $4D, \,\mathcal{N}=2$ superfield theories.

Okuda and Penedones (OP) \cite{Okuda:2010ym} showed the existence of a double scaling limit of four point correlators in ${\cal N}=4$ Supersymmetric Yang Mills (SYM) theory in four spacetime dimensions (4$d$) dual to the flat space limit of tree-level string amplitude in $\mathbb{R}^{1,9}$ with external kinematics in $\mathbb{R}^{1,4}$. In this paper, we show that the resulting boundary correlators can be used to define a 4d Carrollian conformal field theory (CFT) on future null infinity (${\I}^{+}$). This is done by mapping the set of correlators in ${\cal N} = 4$ SYM theory (in the double scaling limit) to ${\I}^{+}$, which is the conformal boundary of all asymptotically flat spacetimes. A Carroll CFT thus emerges in the infinite 't Hooft coupling limit of ${\cal N} = 4$ SYM theory. We extend the OP analysis to higher point functions and show how the Gram conditions on flat space amplitude put constraints on the double scaling limit of SYM correlators. We then use the soft factorization theorem for dilatonic string amplitude to write a recursion relation for $\frac{1}{2}$ BPS sector of ${\cal N} = 4$ SYM theory in the double scaling limit. Finally, we show that the essential ideas underlying such a double scaling limit can be used as a tool-kit to build a class of Carrollian correlators, and hence define a Carrollian CFT, via certain integral transforms of flat space amplitudes of non-gravitational effective field theories.

Can a finite quantum episode populate a classical future that the same prepared state never reaches deterministically? We show that it can, using inflation as a cosmological laboratory. In our supergravity realization, two classical continuations already exist, but the prepared state reaches only one without noise. A stable entropy direction temporarily becomes light without a tachyonic instability, allowing mode-derived phase-space fluctuations to access the competing continuation. Finite-horizon first passage assigns it a \(0.33\)--\(0.40\) conditional weight across three nearby CMB-normalized realizations, while suppressing the stochastic source restores its exact deterministic zero. The entropy sector then becomes heavy again, and the selected histories continue classically. A finite quantum episode can thus leave a lasting redistribution among classical futures.

We present a comprehensive study of the Wess-Zumino gauge for the analytic prepotentials of the off-shell $\mathcal{N}=2$ Weyl and $\mathcal{N}=2$ Einstein supergravities (the version with a non-linear tensor compensator). The field redefinitions, the full transformation laws, and the gauge superparameters that preserve the Wess-Zumino gauge are derived. As a concrete application of the obtained results, we examine the component structure of the free hypermultiplet action coupled to $\mathcal{N}=2$ supergravity. In this work, we restrict our analysis strictly to the bosonic sector.

We establish a bottom-up model for studying the `would-be' de-Sitter/interface CFT (dS/ICFT) correspondence on the gravity side, using the Coleman-De Luccia instanton. After absorbing the region where the inflaton changes dramatically by a brane, the spacetime consists of two de Sitter spacetimes with different radii joined by a brane, which is expected to be dual to an interface CFT provided that the dS/CFT conjecture is correct. Our goal is to analyze existing prescriptions for the holographic computation of pseudo-entropy, i.e. the extremal surface in such a spacetime and argue that some of them would cause parodox with the results expected the universal properties of interface CFT and compare our results with that of Anti de Sitter/interface CFT correspondence (AdS/ICFT) after analytic continuation. We also read off the $g$-function from the entanglement entropy associated with a subregion perpendicular to the interface.

The Hydrotope gives a geometric representation of tree-level water-wave amplitudes with two negative spatial momenta as the volume of a hyperplane slice of a box. We trace the origin of this geometry directly to the water-wave action. Writing the $n$-point contact interaction as $\mathcal{V}_n=\sum_{i<j}w_iw_jh_{ij}^{(n)}$, we show that when the two marked momenta have the same sign and every spectator has the opposite sign, the corresponding coefficient is $h_{ij}^{(n)}=2H_n$, where $H_n/(n{-}3)!$ is the Hydrotope volume. More generally, every fixed-pair coefficient admits a denominator-free ordered-flag representation as an oriented sum of $(n{-}3)$-dimensional box volumes. We then sum all two-minus trees by cutting each at the unique vertex joining its two minus branches. The coefficients multiplying minus-minus, minus-plus, and plus-plus frequency bilinears reduce, respectively, to $(2^{n{-}1}{-}2)H_n$, $0$, and $2H_n$, and immediately reproduce the known amplitude $2^{n{-}1}w_1w_2H_n$. Thus, the Hydrotope-and a broader class of related box-slice geometries-is already encoded locally in the water-wave action. This points to further hidden simplicity and geometric structure in general water-wave amplitudes.

Krylov state complexity, or spread complexity, has emerged as a sharp and versatile diagnostic of quantum chaos, information spreading, and many-body dynamics. Built from the Lanczos algorithm and grounded in the optimal-basis theorem, Krylov complexity thereby provides a robust spectroscopic window into quantum dynamics. A central theme is the characteristic overshoot observed in chaotic systems: a complexity peak in which chaotic evolution drives the state deeper into the Krylov chain than in integrable systems before relaxing to equilibrium. This behavior, tied to random-matrix universality classes of spectral statistics, is illustrated across a broad range of models, including quantum billiards, quantum spin chains, and variants of the SYK model. We also discuss proposed holographic descriptions of Krylov complexity in Einstein gravity, and conclude by outlining future directions and open problems, including time-dependent systems and quantum-field-theoretic formulations. A Mathematica notebook is provided for numerical exploration of Krylov complexity and spectral statistics across models.

Particles creation and vacuum polarization under the influence of both an electromagnetic field and a de~Sitter (dS) spacetime nonperturbatively probes quantum electrodynamics (QED) and quantum gravitational effects. By applying the gamma-function regularization to the in-out formulation, we find the exact one-loop effective action in the proper-time integral representation for a charged scalar field in a uniform electric field and a parallel magnetic field in a dS spacetime. It reduces to the one-loop scalar QED Weisskopf-Schwinger effective action in the limit of Minkowski spacetime and the one-loop effective action in the pure dS spacetime. After carefully considering the different limiting cases, a striking result concerns the effective strengths of the coupling constants in the pure strong electric field limit. Our study provides further evidence for evolution of Newton's gravitational constant under the influence of the external fields. Remarkably, the analysis of the effective potential shows that the leading order contributions to the vacuum polarization amplitude, depending on the nonminimal coupling threshold, give a nonzero vacuum expectation value of the magnetic field. This mechanism generates a large magnetic field in the early dS stage of the expansion that may imply primordial magnetogenesis.

The Ryu-Takayanagi formula equates the area of a minimal surface with the von Neumann entropy of a boundary subregion, and leaves two things about that identification open. The first is how sharply a geometry fixes an entropy. Fannes-Audenaert answers with a Hilbert-space dimension, which diverges as the cutoff is removed however close the two states are. We replace it with the capacity of entanglement, the variance of the modular energy, whose square root grows like the square root of the entangling area where the dimensional factor grows like the regulated volume. The bound is dimension-free and saturated, and it makes the ambiguity of the entropy subextensive for any perturbation whose capacity is small compared with $S_{vN}^2$ times the trace norm. The second is what the area means for a single state, since compression and dilution rates are defined only for many copies while a geometry describes one. When a single replica saddle dominates near $α= 1$, every smooth Rényi entropy at fixed $α> 1$ agrees with $S_{vN}$ to $\textit{O}(\sqrt{S_{vN}})$, as do the smooth min- and max-entropies. The minimal surface therefore fixes every one-shot entropy of the state at once, with large central charge playing the role of large copy number in the asymptotic equipartition property. As a consequence we bound how far outside the holographic entropy cone a holographic state can appear to fall, leaving estimation and certification open.

In this work, we introduce a vortex-impurity model that admits BPS configurations containing both vortices and antivortices and allows vortex-antivortex annihilation to be described within the moduli-space approximation. For a suitable class of impurities, the BPS equations can be mapped through a coordinate transformation onto those of the impurity-free Abelian-Higgs model. In particular, we identify nonlocalized impurities that act as mirrors, generating a vortex-antivortex pair symmetrically placed with respect to the impurity. We derive the corresponding moduli-space metric and show that, within the geodesic approximation, the pair approaches the annihilation configuration asymptotically. We further extend the construction to chains and two-dimensional arrays of alternating vortices and antivortices. Finally, we introduce radial bump impurities that produce stretched and compressed vortices with nontrivial internal magnetic structures.

We show how amplitudes from the scattering of gravitational waves off compact objects in worldline effective field theory can be efficiently computed to arbitrary order in Newton's constant $G$. Our approach solves an effective wave equation for the partial-wave amplitude in which Wilson coefficients (tidal Love numbers) enter through boundary conditions at short distances. We then perform the sum over partial waves to obtain the momentum-space Compton amplitude in terms of elliptic polylogarithms. We reproduce recent results through $\mathcal{O}(G^4)$ and obtain new predictions up to $\mathcal{O}(G^7)$, with Love numbers first contributing at $\mathcal{O}(G^5)$. We find the first ultraviolet divergence in a classical gravitational amplitude at $\mathcal{O}(G^7)$, showing that a pure point-particle description is not consistent in general relativity. Matching to black hole perturbation theory, we show that static Love numbers vanish on-shell and predict subleading non-zero Schwarzschild black hole Love numbers.

The ${\cal M}$-theory dual of thermal QCD-like theories constructed in arXiv:1306.4339, 2004.07259 involves, as shown in arXiv:2211.13186, a closed $G_2$-structure seven-fold $\mathcal{M}_7$ supporting Contact 3-Structures (C3S) that induce a ``transverse'' $SU(3)$-structure. We prove that this induced structure belongs to the symplectic nearly half-flat (S(nearly)HF) class: $dω_Φ=0$ exactly, while $dΩ_+$ is suppressed as $\mathcal{O}(e^{-N^{1/3}/\mathcal{O}(1)})$ in the infrared "MQGP limit", leaving $W_Φ^{SU(3)}=W_2^-$ as the sole non-vanishing Chiossi--Salamon torsion class and completing the $G$-structure classification of the MQGP dual initiated in arXiv:1507.02692,2004.07259, 2211.13186. As a physical application, Kaluza--Klein reduction of the eleven-dimensional Hodge dual of the differential of the $G_2$-structure positive three-form on $\mathcal{M}_7$, organised through the $G_2$/S(nearly)HF torsion data, yields a radial ``magnetic field'' $\mathcal{B}_{\rm KK}(r)$ whose squared norm factorises exactly into external and internal factors. $\mathcal{B}_{\rm KK}(r)$ satisfies a Bessel-type ODE with a regular singular point at the horizon; normalisability and infrared regularity select $J_2$, with harmonicity of the aforementioned internal factor recovered from the large-$N$ suppression. $\mathcal{B}_{\rm KK}$ is related to the magnetic field of the type~IIA flavour $D6$-branes via a non-linear power law, furnishing a top-down holographic mechanism for generating weak magnetic fields in finite-temperature string theory.

We study overlaps of late-time states in semiclassical de Sitter quantum gravity. In a family of deformations of de Sitter JT gravity, we compute the no-boundary wavefunction to one-loop and derive the ultralocal late-time measure. The one-universe contribution to the norm is exactly eight times the sphere amplitude, so the pairing used by the Lorentzian measure differs from that implicit in Euclidean gravity. After summing over disconnected final universes, the no-boundary norm exponentiates the one-universe result, giving $\langle \!\langle \text{HH}|\text{HH}\rangle\!\rangle \approx \exp(8Z_{\rm sphere})$ rather than the sum over closed geometries, $Z_{\rm closed}\approx \exp(Z_{\rm sphere})$. We also review an analogous mismatch in Einstein gravity with positive cosmological constant, where the late-time no-boundary norm vanishes at one-loop, differing from the Euclidean sphere amplitude. We discuss the implications for cutting and gluing in perturbative gravity, and features that arise when extending this construction to sums over topologies.

We establish the spectral foundation of the geometric formulation of Cooper pairing in the Yukawa--Sachdev--Ye--Kitaev model. Starting from the large-$N$ bilocal effective action, we derive the Gaussian fluctuation kernel in the even-frequency spin-singlet Cooper channel. Following the construction of Maldacena and Stanford, we determine the kernel eigenvalue $k\left(h\right)$ analytically for arbitrary conformal weight $h$ and resolve the pairing fluctuations into the continuous and discrete sectors of the associated de-Sitter space Laplacian. We show that the superconducting instability and the universal low-energy fluctuations near it reside entirely in the continuous scattering sector, while the discrete modes remain non-critical. Expanding the kernel about the lowest continuum mode yields a Klein--Gordon action on ${\rm dS}_2$, restricted to the continuous spectral subspace. This is precisely the subspace on which the inverse Radon transform to ${\rm AdS}_2$ is well defined. The projected bilocal Cooper-pair field can therefore be mapped onto a scalar matter field propagating in ${\rm AdS}_2$, without requiring any further spectral restriction on the bulk theory. Our results provide the missing microscopic justification for the projection implicit in earlier holographic formulations and clarify how a local bulk field emerges from the bilocal pairing theory.

Motivated by inflation and Liouville theory, we consider random $d$-dimensional geometries characterized by an overall scale factor $ds^2 = e^{2 ζ} dx^2 $ given in terms of a random Gaussian field $ζ(x)$ with logarithmic correlations. We discuss aspects of the renormalization of the volume element $e^{d ζ}$, connecting well-known Liouville theory formulas (KPZ) and inflationary ones. By starting from a fixed physical cutoff and coarse-graining operators to a fixed fiducial cutoff, defined via the flat metric $dx^2$, we provide a direct physical derivation of the KPZ scaling relation. We point out that the same renormalization problem arises in stochastic inflation, where it is modeled by Brownian motion of the inflaton field. We show that the breakdown of the renormalization of the Liouville volume when the fluctuation amplitude exceeds a critical value corresponds to the transition to eternal inflation. In $d = 2$, this matches the familiar $c_m = 1$ barrier in Liouville gravity. We also discuss connections to mathematical probabilistic approaches to random surfaces.

Energy correlators are universal observables, well defined across a wide range of theories and spacetime dimensions, from gauge theory and conformal field theory to string theory. Energy correlators are constrained by three fundamental properties: pointwise positivity of the energy flux, global positivity originating from their interpretation as state norms in a unitary theory, and energy conservation organizing multi-point energy correlators into an infinite consistent hierarchy. We argue that the most general solution to the infinite hierarchy positivity problem of energy correlators is given by the event distribution formula, which expresses energy correlators as moments of the measure on the space of probability measures on the celestial sphere. We work out in detail implications of positivity for two- and three-point energy correlators and show that it implies nontrivial two-sided bounds on their multipole expansion coefficients. The bounds obtained by requiring consistency of the infinite hierarchy of energy correlators are strictly stronger than those obtained by imposing positivity of the two- and three-point correlators alone. For the low-spin multipole coefficients studied in the paper, the derived bounds are optimal in the sense that their extrema are realized by finite mixtures of finite-particle events. We further demonstrate consequences of positivity in energy correlators in collider physics and conformal field theories.

Self-dual Einstein gravity is a one-loop exact, UV and IR finite, diffeomorphism invariant, non-unitary theory of quantum gravity in four dimensions. The only non-trivial amplitudes are the one-loop-all-plus amplitudes, and they are equal to those of pure Einstein gravity. In these notes we review SDG and SDYM pedagogically. We walk the reader through key calculations, fill in some gaps in the literature, and point out directions for future research. Topics include: derivation of the self-dual actions from the full Einstein gravity/YM actions in lightcone gauge, decoupling of ghosts, Berends-Giele currents, vanishing of tree-level-one-minus amplitudes, celestial $Lw_{1+\infty}$ symmetry, perturbiners, double-off-shell current calculation of one-loop-all-plus SDYM and SDG amplitudes, dimension shifting, unitarity cuts, the BDPR gravity formula, one-loop color ordering, and the covariant formulations of the self-dual theories as well as their their gauge fixing. We also review some selected results from the celestial holography program, and briefly comment on an all-n expression for the one-loop-one-minus gravity amplitudes.

We investigate the problem of confinement of massive ghost, which violates the unitarity of the physical S-matrix, in quadratic gravity on the basis of a manifestly covariant and local canonical operator formalism. First, we reconsider the manifestly covariant quantization of quadratic gravity in the de Donder gauge (the harmonic gauge) from the viewpoint of dipole fields. Next, we also reconsider a possible mechanism of confinement of the massive ghost and derive an effective Lagrangian for asymptotic fields of a BRST quartet where the asymptotic field corresponding to the massive ghost is found to obey a dipole field equation as in the Froissart model, which is a characteristic feature in our formalism. To understand quantum aspects of our theory, we perform a manifestly covariant quantization of the effective Lagrangian in two different ways based on the three-dimensional Fourier transform and the four-dimensional Fourier transform, and derive the same result that the quantum Fock space is spanned by multipole states.

In this note, we describe the Gepner construction purely as orbifold (rather than a beta-prescription or orbifold-like process). This is done by distinguishing orbifolding by a chiral symmetry from that by a left-right diagonal symmetry, and also by exploiting an extra degree of freedom available in orbifolds of Type 0 SCFTs. We also describe by using the Arf theory how the extra freedom in Type 0 SCFT orbifolds in general (not just in the Gepner construction) should be implemented in higher genus amplitudes. This note also determines when a combinatorial data set of a Gepner construction has a mirror Gepner construction, and also provides two thinking frameworks to determine the SCFT vertex operators of the Gepner model SCFTs with phase ambiguity and branch cuts under control.

Motivated by the kinematic-space description of gravitational subregions \cite{Basu:2026hbg}, we allow partial entanglement entropy (PEE) threads to be sourced not only from the asymptotic boundary, but also from boundaries of subregions. Based on this setup, we develop a framework to construct configurations for PEE threads and bit threads sourced from surfaces in the AdS bulk. The situations we have analyzed include the Poincaré AdS$_3$ and the planar BTZ black brane with an end-of-the-world (EOW) brane, and the entanglement wedges of boundary multi-intervals. We construct novel configurations of PEE threads and bit threads in these situations, which shed new light in our understanding of the AdS$_3$/BCFT$_2$ correspondence and the holography defined in the entanglement wedge motivated by surface/state correspondence. A notable feature we found is that, although the elementary PEE threads are geodesics, the integral curves of the coarse-grained bit-thread current are generically not geodesics. Across the explicit constructions, the integrated source currents reduce to endpoint distance-difference potentials, which make divergencelessness, the norm bound and bottleneck saturation geometrically transparent. Our results clarify how boundary, brane, horizon and RT-surface degrees of freedom participate in holographic entanglement and provide a concrete link between PEE, bit threads, subregion kinematic space and the surface/state correspondence.

We develop PEE thread flows for the planar BTZ black brane and finite-cutoff holography. Exact geodesic-distance kernels define source-resolved PEE thread currents whose superposition gives divergenceless bit-thread fields. In BTZ, boundary-boundary and boundary-horizon sectors reproduce the entanglement contour and thermal horizon flux. At finite cutoff, the two-point PEE kernels are smooth and select macroscopic flows that are generically non-geodesic despite being built from geodesic elementary threads. We compare these PEE-selected flows with independent normal-geodesic bit-thread flows and show that they saturate the same RT bottleneck while differing in boundary calibration, endpoint pairing and off-bottleneck structure. The resulting constructions make explicit both the endpoint organization of finite-cutoff entanglement and the nonuniqueness of holographic max flows.

We first construct general saddles of the five-dimensional gravitational supersymmetric index with $S^1\times\mathbb{R}^4$ asymptotics, carrying an arbitrary number of electric charges and Gibbons-Hawking centers. We then uplift the three-charge configurations to type IIB supergravity, obtaining solutions asymptotic to $S^1\times \mathbb{R}^4\times S^1\times {\rm K}3$, carrying D1-D5-P charges. Upon taking a decoupling limit, these solutions yield asymptotically Euclidean AdS$_3\times S^3\times {\rm K}3$ candidate saddles of the dual CFT$_2$ elliptic genus. We focus on the two-center saddles, which involve three integers specifying an orbifold action. Depending on these integers, the saddles may or may not possess a Euclidean horizon, and may be smooth or exhibit orbifold singularities. We give the on-shell action of these two-center saddles in the appropriate ensemble and establish a precise match with the Farey-tail expansion of the elliptic genus. The horizonless saddles are the Euclidean version of fractional spectral-flow solutions previously discussed in the literature, corresponding to $({\rm AdS}_3\times S^3)/\mathbb{Z}_k$ orbifolds. The black hole saddles are modular images of the horizonless ones. They generalize the well-known ${\rm SL}(2,\mathbb{Z})$ family of BTZ black holes by placing it in the background of the $\mathbb{Z}_k$ orbifold. We also consider the asymptotically AdS$_3\times S^3$ solutions arising as decoupling limit of five-dimensional black ring and black lens saddles, provide their on-shell action and confirm that they do not contribute to the D1-D5 elliptic genus.

Strong subadditivity (SSA) on a common light cone gives the Casini-Huerta entropic proof of the three-dimensional $F$-theorem. We ask whether holographic entropy inequalities beyond SSA similarly constrain renormalization group flows for which every intermediate theory admits a semiclassical holographic description. For small, disjoint deformations of a common light-cone region, we show that the second-order response of a broad class of balanced holographic inequalities depends only on pairwise correlations already controlled by SSA. A six-party example shows that the full finite inequality nevertheless contains genuinely multipartite information, so its disappearance is a limitation of the second-order expansion rather than of the inequality itself. Two natural finite constructions do not recover the missing information. We nevertheless find two ways in which information beyond SSA survives. A five-party inequality bounds the rate at which a conditional correlation grows as one region is enlarged. Separately, a continuum limit of the odd-cyclic inequalities gives a constraint on the angular shape dependence of entanglement entropy, and Lorentz symmetry relates this constraint to radial evolution. Thus holographic entropy inequalities beyond SSA do constrain entanglement along RG flows, although we do not obtain a second universal analogue of the $F$-function.

The $n$-point single-minus graviton amplitudes are nonzero in a special kinematic region that preserves some supersymmetry when embedded in supergravity. We compute these amplitudes within the BFSS matrix theory by relating them to an index problem considered by A. Sen. More precisely, the single-minus amplitudes are obtained from an index that counts BPS states in the Coulomb branch of four-dimensional ${\cal N}=4$ super Yang-Mills. We explicitly check this relation in a specific kinematic region by computing the index using BPS wall-crossing formulae and matching it to the gravity result. We further employ BPS wall-crossing to show that the index satisfies a tower of $w_{1+\infty}$ soft theorems in any kinematic regime, again matching gravity. Finally, we show that for certain kinematics, the single-minus amplitudes can be realized by scattering a graviton off a plane wave.

We study the dynamics of pure-gauge SU(N) through the time evolution of a spatial Wilson loop. We compute its out-of-time-order correlator at weak 't Hooft coupling and large N, and propose a framework for the strong-coupling description. We find that operators in pure-gauge Yang-Mills grow only when the group is non-abelian and d>2, and conjecture that pure gauge theories are chaotic only when non-abelian at d>2. Even at weak coupling the correlator's exponent inherits the IR sensitivity of the gluon self-energy imaginary part, which rests on the non-perturbative magnetic scale. We then explore the possibility that the loop's own size supplies that scale, since the loop operator is blind to any momenta softer than 1/2R. With the cutoff imposed that way the exponent changes sign at a critical diameter: smaller loops scramble, larger ones do not, and the scrambling time diverges at the crossing. The transition follows from that cutoff. Further investigation, in particular a first-principles treatment of the thermal decay width, is required to establish whether it is physical.

We study tropical open strings arising from the analytically continued action of tropological sigma models in the presence of a constant Kalb-Ramond background. We show that the background field separates the theory into a generic sector and a critical sector. In the generic sector, the canonical structure produces a kinematical nonlocal bracket between the transverse and leafwise target-space coordinates. At the critical value of the Kalb-Ramond field, the Legendre map degenerates and the theory develops a primary constraint, requiring quantization by the Dirac-Bergmann procedure. This critical sector has a finite reduced phase-space structure and differs from the naive limit of the generic theory.

We prove three results about refined $SU(N)$ VW invariants on Hirzebruch surfaces. First, we crucially simplify the modular anomaly equation satisfied by the generating series of these invariants by expressing it in terms of complementary generalized error functions, which requires extending these error functions to their singular loci. Second, we evaluate the variation of the modular completions of the generating series upon change of polarization. Finally, a representation of the generating functions in terms of indefinite theta series allows us to compute VW invariants at the walls of marginal stability, and to express them in terms of the invariants on the two sides of the wall and those of lower ranks. All the results exhibit a universal structure suggesting their wider applicability.

Equivariant localization in the $Ω$-background is a powerful technique for the evaluation of the partition function of $\mathcal{N}=2$ supersymmetric field theory on a toric four-manifold. For the complex projective plane $\mathbb{CP}^2$, we apply equivariant localization to supersymmetric Yang-Mills theories with gauge groups $SU(2)$ and $SO(3)$ with $N_f$ massive hypermultiplets in the fundamental representation, and the $\mathcal{N}=2^*$ theory with the hypermultiplet in the adjoint representation. We evaluate equivariant correlation functions, which provide an equivariant extension of intersection numbers of moduli spaces of instantons on $\mathbb{CP}^2$, such as Euler numbers and Segre invariants. In the non-equivariant limit, we compare our results with the evaluation using low energy field theory and integration over the $u$-plane. Using this comparison, we identify a specific overall factor, which captures the difference between a partition function for gauge group $U(2)$ and $SU(2)$ or $SO(3)$ on a compact four-manifold. We also discuss our results in the context of $S$-duality of the $N_f=4$ and $\mathcal{N}=2^*$ theory, which includes the triality automorphism group of the flavor group for $N_f=4$.

Using the string/field theory correspondence as a tool, we study the dependence of the Hagedorn temperature of strongly coupled, planar gauge theories on angular velocities and chemical potentials for $U(1)$ global currents. Our results are obtained from an interplay of world-sheet semiclassical quantization methods and target space low energy effective ones. The Hagedorn temperature is given as an expansion in the inverse (large) 't Hooft coupling limit. Working to quadratic order in the fluctuations, the world-sheet analysis provides the leading, the next-to-leading and part of the next-to-next-to leading order terms. In particular, it captures the NNLO $\log 2$ terms which are due to the contributions of non-zero modes to the zero-point energy. These modes are not accounted for by the effective approach, within which they have to be included by hand using suitable educated guesses. On the other hand, the effective methods allow to compute in a relatively easy way the missing NNLO pieces (and even further subleading corrections), which could be accounted for from the world-sheet approach only working at quartic (or higher) order in the fluctuations. We present general results and several examples in various dimensions, including both confining models and conformal field theories on spheres (such as $\mathcal N=4$ SYM and ABJM) dual to string theories on global $AdS$ spaces.

In this work, we introduce a systematic study for studying the scalar propagator and tadpole self-energy by considering an arbitrary parameter $σ$ that allows for a path integral description in real-time formalism (RTF). The closed time path formalism (CTP) and Thermofield Dynamics (TFD) are two popular choices for the parameter $σ$ in the Feynman rules. We have constructed a scalar propagator and a tadpole self-energy in two different bases in the momentum space as well as the mixed space. The results show that the diagonal components of self-energy in both spaces for the 1/2 basis are the same in both approaches within RTF, whereas the other off-diagonal components of self-energy are different because they depend on the path parameter. On the other hand, the diagonal components of self-energy in both spaces for the new basis are not the same in both approaches within RTF, whereas the off-diagonal components of self-energy are vanishing. That means the new basis allows one to reduce the components for the quantities studied, like self-energy or other.

We determine the Tidal Love number using the near-horizon approximation. For asymptotically flat black holes in general relativity, the conservative tidal response vanishes identically. In contrast, we find that the presence of a negative cosmological constant parameter in the Kerr--Anti-de Sitter black holes leads to a non-trivial tidal response, containing both conservative and dissipative contributions. We systematically study the static and dynamical tidal responses of Kerr--Anti-de Sitter black holes. In particular, we examine the behaviour of the conservative and dissipative response coefficients and investigate their dependence on the black-hole rotation parameter and the AdS curvature scale.

Using the effective Lagrangian for the low-energy/temperature of photon-photon interaction and the lowest-order photon self-energy is calculated in the Real Time Formalism (RTF) for an arbitrary path specified by the $σ$-parameter within the new basis. The causal Green's functions (without chemical potential) for the scalar field are evaluated to derive the usual thermal propagators in the mixed space. It is shown that the symmetric propagator does not depend on $σ-$ parameter. Furthermore, the photon self-energy is used to calculate some electromagnetic properties, such as dielectric tensor and velocity of light from photon self-energy in the mixed space that greatly simplifies calculations in RTF. Their time dependence is investigated, and a comparison between our results and those obtained by other models is discussed.

We construct complete solutions of the massless S-matrix bootstrap equations describing a new infinite family of integrable RG flows from the higher-fusion-level minimal models M(3,2n+3;n) to the non-unitary Virasoro minimal models M(2,2n+3), including a flow from M(3,5) to the Yang--Lee CFT M(2,5) when n=1. We provide strong evidence for this identification by matching conformal perturbation theory around the UV fixed points with the small-volume expansion of the corresponding thermodynamic Bethe ansatz equations. We further show that a family of non-invertible Verlinde defect lines is preserved along the flows.

These notes provides an introduction to a wide variety of notions of connection that appear in the contemporary mathematical literature. Besides the familiar Ehresmann connections on principal bundles and Koszul connections on vector bundles, there is a large zoo of perhaps less familiar notions, most notably Cartan connections on principal bundles and their avatars on tractor bundles, which may deserve more attention for further elucidating higher-spin interactions and symmetries. This review is motivated both by the previous (explicit or implicit) use of these notions of connection in higher-spin gravity and by their potential future applications in this context. Much of the material covered here is also relevant to advanced mathematical topics in gravity, such as the rigorous treatment of conformal geometry (which is of interest for holography) and may help fill gaps left by standard textbooks (most of which typically do not address Cartan connections, tractor calculus, and related topics).

We study CFT$_3$ realizations and celestial representations of the $\mathcal{L}_Λw_{1+\infty}$ algebra. Free scalar and Dirac theories yield the same one-particle light-ray action. This action extends to the critical $O(N)$ model at $N=\infty$, while regulated moments reproduce the pairwise algebra in the large-but-finite-$N$ correlators studied here. In the celestial hard-graviton module, the projected null conditions select $Δ=3$ uniquely, and a closed raising subalgebra annihilates $G^+_3$ exactly. The nonzero-$Λ$ quadratic Casimir has eigenvalue three throughout the hard module, and the exact annihilators and low-spin Ward identities give compatible differential-difference equations for celestial correlators.

The starting point of the present work is the observation that the tangent group of a curved manifold need not have the same dimension as the manifold itself. We use this fact to construct Conformal Gravity and its noncommutative (Fuzzy) counterpart as gauge theories, and then to unify both with internal gauge interactions. Specifically, we present a scheme in which conformal gravity, based on gauging the SO(2,4) group, and fuzzy gravity, based on gauging the SO(1,5)$\times$U(1), are unified with SO(10) internal interactions through the parent group SO(2,16), and we work through the resulting spontaneous symmetry breakings and fermion content in detail. We also discuss the low-energy phenomenology of the scheme, including cosmic-string gravitational-wave signals, and close with a brief outlook: a candidate minimal unification group, a dark-matter candidate suggested by the construction, and the ghost problem common to higher-derivative gravity theories of this type.

We study modular transformation formulas from the viewpoint of Mellin space. The basic observation is that the functional relation between the Hurwitz zeta function and the polylogarithm can be used to organize modular transformations as reflection identities of Mellin kernels, while the accompanying polynomial anomalies arise from contour deformations. We first illustrate this mechanism for the $q$-$θ$ function and then extend it to the elliptic Gamma function. In the latter case, independently Mellin transforming the two elliptic directions leads to a trilinear reflection identity relating the three elliptic Gamma functions appearing in the SL$(3,\mathbb{Z})$ modular formula, while the associated contour deformation reproduces the cubic Bernoulli polynomial. Further reflection formulas lead to a weighted $q$-Pochhammer type function with a modular transformation analogous to that of the $q$-$θ$ function, as well as a transposed trilinear reflection identity analogous to the Mellin space structure underlying the SL$(3,\mathbb{Z})$ transformation. Our results suggest that Mellin space reflection identities provide a useful organizing principle for constructing and studying modular special functions beyond the standard multiple elliptic Gamma hierarchy.

In the matrix model of two-flavor adjoint QC$_2$D, we study the low-lying states and their properties in the intermediate-to-strong (Yang-Mills) coupling regime. The model has a classical $SU(2)_R$ chiral symmetry and the eigenstates of the Hamiltonian can be organized in its irreps. We construct the energy eigenstates in presence of a chiral chemical potential $c$ using the variational techniques. We find that when $c=0$, the ground state is always a $SU(2)_R$ singlet, irrespective of the coupling strength $g$. However, as $g$ is tuned from intermediate to strong coupling, the system under goes a crossover from a unique to a doubly degenerate ground state. The degeneracy in the strong coupling regime spontaneously breaks the axial $\mathbb{Z}_8$, while preserving the chiral symmetry. When $c \neq 0$, we find that there can be level crossings which correspond to quantum phase transitions (QPTs). Depending on the ground state, there are three possible phases. The $SU(2)_R$ symmetry is spontaneously broken in only one of these phases, and this phase can only emerge for intermediate $g$ with moderate values of $c$. In the $g-c$ plane this phase corresponds to a narrow window, outside which $SU(2)_R$ is always preserved.

We study modulus stabilization by background fluxes. The supersymmetric minima satisfy a holomorphic quadratic equation. As concrete examples, we consider $T^6/(\mathbb{Z}_2\times\mathbb{Z}_2')$ orientifold model and a simple Calabi-Yau compactification. The modulus values show specific patterns. For example, they show the Farey sequence. The void structure appears around modulus vacua with high degeneracies. We find a correlation between the degeneracy and the void area. The modulus vacua are related by discrete Abelian symmetries generated by the Gauss composition law, which includes the CP symmetry. Spontaneous CP violation is also discussed.

We study eight-point amplitudes in the planar $\mathcal{N}=4$ Super Yang-Mills theory in multi-Regge kinematics in the Mandelstam region that receives contributions from both two- and three-Reggeon exchange. We use an effective field theory approach to compute the leading contribution from three-Reggeon exchange, and we explicitly evaluate the relevant diagrams up to four loops. We also propose a compact Fourier-Mellin representation for the contribution from two-Reggeon exchange in this region which involves the same ingredients as in other Mandelstam regions and can in principle be evaluated to any desired order in perturbation theory. To validate our proposal, we show that we can reproduce the multi-Regge limit of the known results for octagons up to three loops. We then combine the contributions from two- and three-Reggeon exchange to obtain novel results for octagons in MRK up to next-to-leading-logarithmic accuracy at four loops for the maximally helicity violating (MHV) configuration, and up to three loops for non-MHV contributions. We also discuss how our result can be extended to more particles, and we present the contribution from three-Reggeon exchange for three-loop MHV amplitudes with an arbitrary number of legs.

The approach is fully covariant, applies to differential operators of arbitrary order, is amenable to efficient implementation, and yields closed-form expressions. As applications, we compute conformal anomalies in four, six, and eight dimensions, the last being a new result.

We develop a general procedure for constructing time-dependent integrable chiral field theories from autonomous unitary difference-form $S$-matrices satisfying the Yang-Baxter equation. Spectral parameters are transported along the free right- and left-moving characteristics, defining a map from physical spacetime to spectral space on which the two-body scattering data are evaluated. Requiring spatially homogeneous right-left scattering forces the characteristic map to be affine. The inverse Cayley transform then determines the local contact interaction, while evaluation along the affine spectral trajectory fixes its time dependence. Thus, the nonautonomous interaction is determined by the autonomous scattering data together with chiral kinematics and spatial homogeneity, rather than being introduced independently. The Yang--Baxter equation supplies the factorized many-body transport, and on a spatial circle periodicity leads to quantum Knizhnik--Zamolodchikov (qKZ) equations whose compatibility defines a flat discrete transport in spectral space. Pulling the corresponding spectral-space amplitudes back to physical coordinates gives the time-dependent many-body wavefunctions. Rational $SU(N)$, trigonometric $U_q(\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_2)$, and rational $O(N)$ scattering illustrate how the same mechanism generates distinct nonautonomous interactions. The resulting framework gives a geometric route from autonomous factorized scattering data to time-dependent integrable field theories.

We investigate Bell-CHSH correlations for a chiral massless Majorana field localized in a double cone. The conformal modular flow of the associated light-ray interval is converted into translations by a rapidity-like coordinate, and the one-particle scalar product is derived in modular momentum space. Particular attention is paid to the fact that this scalar product carries a Fermi-Dirac weight. Requiring the modular conjugation to be antiunitary with respect to that weighted scalar product fixes the Fourier-space realization of the modular objects. The resulting Tomita-Takesaki operator and its adjoint generate Alice and twisted-dual Bob directions for which all four crossed CAR orthogonality relations follow automatically from modular localization. The Bell problem then reduces to a simple one-function functional. For a Gaussian modular-momentum profile $h_σ(k)=\exp[-k^2/(2σ^2)]$ the Bell parameter is larger than the classical bound for a broad range of widths and approaches the Tsirelson value analytically, \[ \lim_{σ\to 0^+}{\it B}(σ)=2\sqrt2 \] Thus near-maximal Bell violation is obtained from an explicit sequence of smooth rapidly decreasing profiles concentrated around zero modular momentum, corresponding to the modular spectral value $λ=1$.

Holographic spread (Krylov) complexity relates the growth of a boundary state's complexity to the proper radial momentum of a probe falling into the bulk. Unitary evolution makes spread complexity an even function of time. We show that this requirement fails whenever a probe carries a conserved Noether charge and is described by its unreduced Lagrangian. The cure is simple and universal: passing to the Routhian of the fixed-charge sector restores the correct short-time behaviour of the complexity. We establish this prescription from first principles and test it across an extensive family of probes: charged particles, non-BPS D-branes with detuned tension and charge, branes excited along internal isometries, worldvolume gauge fields, a fluctuating D0-brane in AdS$_4\times \mathbb{CP}^3$ and fundamental strings combining winding with rotation in AdS$_5\times \mathrm{S}^5$ complemented by further examples in AdS$_3\times \mathrm{S}^3\times T^4$, ABJM, and the charged Anabalón-Ross background. We then translate these results into Krylov-chain data, extracting Lanczos coefficients and Krylov-number correlators, and propose that complexity for charged, extended probes organises naturally into collective, fluctuation, charge and mixed contributions. This decomposition opens a concrete path toward a genuinely field-theoretic, multi-seed construction of holographic complexity.

We study quantum field theory on the AdS$_2$ worldsheet of the fundamental string dual to the half-BPS Wilson line of $\mathcal{N}=4$ super Yang-Mills. We consider a recently proposed gauge-fixed string fluctuation Lagrangian around the AdS$_2$ minimal surface, and focus on the nonlinearly realized $SO(6)/SO(5)$ symmetry. The boundary two-point function of the associated tilt operators, whose normalization coefficient is proportional the Bremsstrahlung function, can be related to the bulk two-point function of the broken-symmetry Noether current through the boundary operator expansion. We evaluate the one-loop diagrams contributing to the current correlator, discussing the role of dimensional regularization and recovering the known strong-coupling correction to the Bremsstrahlung function directly from AdS$_2$ worldsheet quantum field theory.

We obtain an exact expression for the Rényi mutual information (RMI) between two spherical regions for a free, massless Dirac field in $d$ spacetime dimensions and for a massless Rarita-Schwinger field in $d=4$. We identify each angular momentum mode in the spherical dimensional reduction of the parent theory with a massive Dirac fermion in two dimensional anti-de Sitter space (AdS). The RMI for each mode can be computed analytically for any Rényi index $n$ in terms of solutions of a Painlevé differential equation. We explore the long and short distance asymptotics of the result, where the sum over modes can be computed explicitly. As a result we are able to find subleading contributions to the long distance expansion in $d$ dimensions for arbitrary $n$, as well as to extract the area and logarithmic coefficients for the case $n=1$ in the short distance regime.

We study the one-sided time evolution of thermofield double (TFD) states in random matrix theory, where the Hamiltonian is taken to be a $D\times D$ random matrix drawn from a unitarily invariant emsemble of Hermitian matrices. We argue that the Krylov basis with the maximally entangled state taken as the initial vector gives a semiclassical Hilbert space description of these TFD states in random matrix theory at any $O(1)$ temperature and time in the $D\to \infty$ limit, very analogous to the ``chord Hilbert space'' construction in the double-scaled SYK (DSSYK) model. We study this semiclassical description in detail for ensembles where the spectral density in the $D\to \infty$ limit is even, compactly supported on an interval and has square root edges. With a few more conditions on the analytic structure of the spectral density, we observe that the semiclassical Hamiltonian has the same asymptotic behavior at large Krylov depth as that of DSSYK, with the corresponding parameter $\mathfrak{q}=e^{-λ}$ being related to the location of the nearest zero of the spectral density away from the spectral cut. Furthermore, in a large class of models corresponding to ultraviolet deformations of the DSSYK spectral density, i.e., where the spectrum in the UV is modified while leaving the near-edge behavior unchanged, we show that the semiclassical effective Hamiltonian in the Krylov basis reduces to the Liouville Hamiltonian of JT gravity in a low-energy, continuum limit. This suggests that our semiclassical Hilbert space should be interpreted as the bulk Hilbert space of a dual gravity description.

The double copy relates gravitational data to gauge-theory data, most sharply through color-kinematics duality for flat-space scattering amplitudes. This review surveys the extent to which this idea can be formulated beyond asymptotically flat backgrounds. After recalling the flat-space ingredients needed for comparison, we describe curved-space constructions for boundary correlators and scattering observables in AdS, dS, and other non-trivial backgrounds. We then review classical and field-level maps, including Kerr--Schild, Weyl, Cotton, twistor, and convolutional double copies. A separate part is devoted to self-dual sectors. Throughout, we emphasize both the common structures that survive from flat space and the obstructions introduced by curvature.

We develop a (Wilsonian) functional-renormalisation-group framework for scalar cosmology in which quantum fluctuations of a scalar field are coarse-grained on cosmological spacelike hypersurfaces. Integrating out quantum fluctuations with wavelengths smaller than the Hubble radius $H(t)^{-1}$, we obtain an effective scalar potential $U(φ(t),H(t))$ that evolves in time. We derive a non-perturbative flow equation for this potential, together with the coupled set of (modified) Friedmann equations. We then apply this formalism to the simplest possible case of a de Sitter vacuum when the scalar field is at rest, in two situations which satisfy exactly our flow equation: $(i)$ A flat potential, for which we find that the only pure de Sitter solution is unstable and corresponds to a saddle point. $(ii)$ A quadratic potential with curvature $m^2>0$, for which we find that the presence of the mass term stabilises the system. The latter case leads to a de Sitter attractor either at the Hubble scale when the mass is larger than the Hubble scale at initial time, or by introducing a new attractor located at $H=m$ in the case the mass is smaller, which may be particularly relevant to the phenomenological study of dark energy and inflation theories.

Dynamical symmetry breaking plays a crucial role in mass and scale generation. In QCD-like theories, its dependence on the number of fermion flavours determines the phase structure and the transition to the conformal regime. In this work, we employ the functional renormalisation group and the generalised flow equation to compute non-perturbative corrections, including momentum dependencies and field invariants essential for an adequate realisation of the global symmetry. As a consequence, the critical gauge coupling required for dynamical chiral symmetry breaking acquires a strong dependence on the number of flavours and increases sharply at $N_f^\textrm{crit}\simeq 7.30$ for $N_c=3$. This establishes a new picture of the conformal phase transition that challenges Miransky/BKT scaling and the existence of walking regimes, favours a first-order quantum phase transition, and points towards a critical region with exotic dynamics and symmetric fermion mass gaps.

The supermembrane action is non-linear and a priori non-renormalizable. Still, some quantities in this theory may be free of log UV divergences and thus defined unambiguously. To explore this possibility we compute the energy of an M2 brane wrapped on a 2-torus in flat 11d space to two loops in the inverse-tension expansion. The result is free of logarithmic divergences and the same should hold also at higher loop orders. For fermions periodic around both circles the quantum corrections cancel, consistent with the BPS nature of the wrapped M2 brane state. For fermions antiperiodic around one or both circles the energy is a non-trivial function of the radii given by infinite sums of modified Bessel functions. We also compute 3-loop correction to the energy of the bosonic membrane on $\mathbb R^2\times S^1$. In contrast to the string case, it contains, besides powers of the 1-loop $ζ(3)$ coefficient, a new term proportional to $ζ(9)$. Summing contributions of all-loop bubble graphs leads to a simple cubic equation for the membrane energy. The analogous resummation in the Nambu or GS string t case reproduces the familiar exact square-root expression ${\mathcal E}=\sqrt{(2πR\,T_1)^2+m_0^2}$. We find that the bubble-graph part of the membrane energy does not vanish for any value of the radius $R_{11}$. If contributions of other non-trivial diagrams in the supermembrane case do not qualitatively change this conclusion, this would disfavour the conjectured relation between 11d theory on an antiperiodic circle and the strong-coupling limit of type 0A string theory.

We investigate the critical exponents $(γ,ν)$ at the current-driven tricritical point (TCP) associated with chiral symmetry breaking in a nonequilibrium steady state described by the D3/D7 model. In the symmetry-broken phase, we find that, unlike in the conventional Landau theory, both $γ$ and $ν$ can take values different from those predicted by the Landau theory and depend on the path along which the TCP is approached in the phase diagram. However, when the TCP is approached with the ratio of the effective temperature to the heat bath temperature, $T_{*}/T$, held fixed, the critical exponents agree with those of the Landau theory. These results suggest that the critical phenomena at the current-driven TCP may be described by the Landau theory along the $T_{*}/T$-fixed line, whereas a nontrivial extension of the Landau theory is required for a more general description of the critical phenomena along arbitrary paths.

We study perturbative anomaly inflow for effective theories supported on orbifold fixed loci of the internal geometry. Donnelly's equivariant APS theorem gives a fixed-point density, whose degree-\((d+2)\) component is identified as the anomaly polynomial of the \(d\)-dimensional effective theory. We apply the construction to six-dimensional A-type orbi-instanton theories engineered by \(N\) M5-branes probing a transverse \(\mathbb{C}^2/\mathbb{Z}_k\) singularity at an end-of-the-world M9-brane. For a flat \(E_8\) connection specified by \(ρ:\mathbb{Z}_k\to E_8\), we compute the non-identity ALE fixed-point class on the M9 wall. Its degree-eight component agrees with the complete Kac-label-dependent remainder conjectured in \cite{MOTZ}, including the \(SU(2)_R\) and tangent-bundle curvatures. Together with the known M5/Hořava--Witten and ALE/Hořava--Witten terms, this reproduces the unflavored tensor-branch anomaly polynomial. This local equality further suggests a complete M-theory corner-inflow interpretation. The same prescription also be extended to include flavor symmetries as the centralizer of \(E_8\).

At leading order in the genus expansion the ETH matrix model for DSSYK reproduces its correlators by construction, while its higher-genus corrections are conjectured to capture higher-topology contributions in the dual sine-dilaton gravity -- a correspondence established so far only for the disk and the wormhole. At fixed genus the correlators are built from discrete volumes $N_{g,n}$, polynomial in $q$-deformed zeta values $ζ_q(2k)$ with $q=e^{-λ}$, $λ$ being the DSSYK coupling. These lie in the ring of quasimodular forms generated by the Eisenstein series $E_2,E_4,E_6$, whose $S$-duality yields an exact closed form for the leading non-perturbative correction as $λ\to0$, controlled by $\widetilde q=e^{-4π^2/λ}$. Known at disk level, this scale is shown here to govern the fixed-genus, higher-boundary amplitudes as well. We show that the term linear in $\widetilde q$, at leading order in $λ$, is captured entirely by the $q$-deformed Weil--Petersson volumes, and reduces to a finite sum of intersection numbers of $κ$-classes on the moduli space $\overline{\mathcal M}_{g,n}$ of stable curves, computable without repeating the topological recursion that produced the $N_{g,n}$. We tabulate it for every $(g,n)$ whose $q$-deformed volume is known in closed form, and extend it to $(3,1),(3,2),(4,1)$, where none is available. The construction is not restricted to leading order: we work out $O(\widetilde q^2)$ for the same cases.

Primordial non-Gaussianities are at their largest when the curvature perturbation is coupled to a massive field by a mixing too strong to be treated perturbatively. We show that this regime, naturally reached in multifield inflation, is solved analytically by the Laplace-space representation we recently introduced, in which every mode becomes a superposition of plane waves weighted by a single kernel. The bispectrum then follows as a rapidly convergent series of elementary functions, in perfect agreement with independent numerical results. We find that the cosmological collider signal at strong mixing is larger than widely believed, with only half of the usual Boltzmann suppression. Its amplitude further grows with the number of time derivatives of the curvature perturbation in the interaction, singling out the most promising observational targets.

We propose an extension of AdS/CFT in which quantum gravitational wavefunctions of connected bulk geometries are assembled into a Fock space of universes. Splitting and joining interactions in a third-quantized Hamiltonian then provide a quantum description of changes in bulk connectivity and topology. Reduced phase-space quantization supplies the physical one-universe Hilbert space and a radial Schrödinger evolution with respect to which the topology-changing interactions are ordered. We develop the construction concretely in AdS$_3$ gravity with a torus boundary, where these ingredients can be described explicitly. The light spectrum is treated as fixed, non-normalizable background data, whereas the normalizable states above the black-hole threshold are quantized as dynamical modes. A conventional boundary theory is selected by choosing a coherent state whose universe-field expectation value, together with the fixed background contribution, yields consistent CFT data at the asymptotic boundary. Generic one-universe wavefunctions need not admit such an interpretation. This raises the possibility that CFT-realizable wavefunctions are nongeneric in the gravitational state space and are not closed under arbitrary superpositions of gravitational states. The known two-torus spacetime-wormhole amplitude, which lies at the heart of the factorization problem, provides concrete input for the topology-changing interactions of the third-quantized theory. A complementary cutting-and-gluing description yields an effective ensemble interpretation when the resulting gravitational sectors admit consistent boundary-theory interpretations, without assuming a fundamental ensemble of boundary theories. We also discuss replica wormholes and baby-universe processes within the same framework.

Tidal deformability provides a sensitive probe of the structure of compact objects, and black holes are exceptional in having vanishing static Love numbers in four-dimensional Einstein gravity. We ask what happens to this fine-tuned rigidity across the black hole-string transition, where the same states are expected to admit a weakly coupled description as a self-gravitating highly excited string, or "string star". We compute the static tidal Love numbers of the Horowitz-Polchinski (HP) string star for multipoles $\ell=2,3,4$ in $D=4,5,6$. The response is non-zero in all cases, as in the available $α'$-corrected black hole results, so the zero-Love structure of four-dimensional Einstein gravity does not survive on either side of the transition. On the string side, however, the response has a distinctive multipolar structure: the Love numbers grow rapidly with $\ell$, and we show analytically that this growth originates from the competition between the multipolar weight of the tidal field and the exponential tail of the winding condensate, with the result that the radial scale probed by the deformability grows linearly with $\ell$ at large multipole number. This provides a direct tidal signature of the extended, surface-less nature of the string star. We discuss the comparison with $α'$-corrected black holes and the limitations of the currently available perturbative results at large $\ell$.

In this paper, we study the renormalization of a three-dimensional quartic model on a compact connected Riemannian manifold with a boundary. We show that, in addition to the standard shift of the mass parameter, it is necessary to take into account boundary contributions involving singular coefficients. This indicates the need to extend the classical action within the framework of standard renormalization theory. The requirements of consistency regarding the gluing of manifolds lead to renormalization of an operator on the boundary.

Locality and unitarity are fundamental principles of quantum field theory. For tree-level scattering amplitudes, locality determines which propagator poles may occur together, while unitarity fixes their residues through factorization. Previous uniqueness theorems have repeatedly shown that unitarity can emerge from locality combined with other physical principles. In this Letter we give the first complete all-multiplicity proof for the emergence of locality in this setting. We focus on Tr($φ^3$) theory and phrase locality as a problem in geometric combinatorics. Planar propagators are chords of a polygon, and a denominator is local exactly when its chords triangulate the polygon, and non-local otherwise. We show that hidden zeros---regular kinematic conditions on which the amplitude vanishes---enforce pole compatibility and therefore imply a local singularity structure. The proof rests on two ingredients: a graphical \emph{star test} determines when a chosen zero eliminates a pole product, and a \emph{smoothing} procedure finds such a zero. Thus, once the planar pole alphabet and denominator bound are specified, locality and unitarity emerge together from a single on-shell principle: hidden zeros. Equivalently, our proof provides a novel characterization of a familiar concept: polygon triangulations are precisely the chord configurations that evade every star test.

These lectures provide a pedagogical introduction to the study of finite-$N$ physics of the AdS/CFT correspondence. More specifically we develop the consequences of the trace relations for the space of gauge invariant operators, using powerful methods from invariant theory. Our key conclusions are \begin{itemize} \item that the complete set of trace relations can be solved, leaving a non-redundant set of gauge invariant operators, \item that this non-redundant set can be generated using two types of generators, called primary and secondary invariants, and \item that the primary invariants acquire a natural interpretation as perturbative gravitational degrees of freedom, while the secondary algebra encodes non-perturbative effects of the dual gravitational theory. \end{itemize}

We investigate the cosmological evolution of a spherical brane within the shellworld (dark bubble) scenario embedded in a five-dimensional charged AdS bulk spacetime. For zero or small value of the brane cosmological constant, the shellworld universe has a nonsingular bouncing and cyclic nature with the bounce induced by the charge parameter of the bulk spacetime. On large value of the brane cosmological constant, the shellworld undergoes a nonsingular bounce and expands eternally. Under certain conditions, the brane bounces outside the bulk horizons, leading to a geometrical resolution of the Cauchy horizon instability present in standard braneworld models. Furthermore, analysis of linear scalar perturbations reveals that test scalar field modes remain regular and non-divergent across the bounce. Finally, we incorporate uniformly distributed long strings in the bulk and demonstrate that the bounce still persists while avoiding the horizon instability.

We study the one-loop relation between an effective-field-theory extension of Poincaré gauge theories of gravity with propagating torsion and its unimodular counterpart. In the Einstein representation, we consider two representative quadratic torsion subsectors, namely totally antisymmetric (axial) torsion and the vector component of hook-antisymmetric torsion. On maximally symmetric metric backgrounds with vanishing background torsion, the diffeomorphism-invariant and genuine unimodular theories yield identical one-loop determinants in both sectors, reproducing the same local logarithmic divergences. We further examine flat backgrounds with homogeneous axial or vector torsion, where metric-torsion mixing is present. In each case, the torsion-dependent one-loop effective action in unimodular gauge and in the genuine unimodular formulation is controlled by the same physical determinant. Thus, for the actions and backgrounds considered, the unimodular constraint does not modify local one-loop torsion dynamics. We also delineate the limitations of this equivalence and the extensions needed for generic torsionful curved backgrounds.

We consider $(3+1)$-dimensional asymptotically locally (anti-)de Sitter ((A)dS$_4$) spacetimes with boundary conditions allowing for gravitational flux. We construct an infinite tower of higher-spin charges as perturbative solutions in the cosmological constant $Λ$ to a hierarchy of evolution equations resulting from an asymptotic expansion of the Einstein equations. We show that these charges canonically realize the $Λ$-deformed $w_{1+\infty}$ algebra ($L_Λ w_{1+\infty}$) on a restricted gravitational phase space, thereby extending the higher-spin symmetry structure of asymptotically flat spacetimes to asymptotically (A)dS spacetimes. We further construct the curved-space counterparts of conformally soft gravitons directly in terms of spacetime data. We show that they are primaries with respect to an $\mathfrak{sl}(2,\mathbb{R})$ subalgebra of the (A)dS$_4$ isometry algebra and that their Poisson brackets with the quadratic higher-spin charges reproduce the $Λ$-deformed celestial operator product expansion proposed by Taylor and Zhu. Our results establish the bulk gravitational origin of the $L_Λw_{1+\infty}$ symmetry and extend the celestial bulk-boundary dictionary to asymptotically (A)dS$_4$ gravity.

In this work, we analyze the late-time two-point correlation function in Jackiw--Teitelboim gravity, focusing on the genus-two ($g=2$) contribution associated with two baby universes. Extending the analysis of the single-baby-universe ($g=1$) case, we formulate an amplitude describing the emission and absorption of two baby universes during the evolution of the Hartle--Hawking state. This formulation reduces the problem to a moduli-space integral involving the Weil--Petersson volume $V_{0,3}$. To evaluate this integral, we decompose $V_{0,3}$ into contributions from Kontsevich graphs and extend the no-shortcut condition to the relevant genus-two strip geometries. Combined with the strip approximation, this decomposition reorganizes the moduli-space integral into a finite sum of contributions associated with distinct geometric configurations. We then explicitly evaluate the strip-geometry contributions corresponding to the emission of two baby universes and determine their contribution to the genus-two late-time two-point correlation function. Our results suggest that the strip approximation, together with the no-shortcut condition, provides a useful analytic framework for studying higher-genus geometries containing multiple wormholes.

We study supersymmetric near-horizon geometries of gauged D=5 supergravity coupled to vector multiplets, on the branch where the canonical rotational Killing vector $\tilde V$ of the horizon section $\mathcal{S}$ is non-vanishing. No rotational symmetry is assumed. On a compact, connected $\mathcal{S}$ without boundary, a second rotational Killing field, independent of $\tilde V$, always exists on the open set where $Z$ and $W$ are linearly independent, and extends to an isometry of all of $\mathcal{S}$, unconditionally if the moduli are constant and under a checkable extension hypothesis otherwise. With $K=Q_{IJ}C^IC^J$ vanishing exactly in the minimal theory, $K\equiv0$ recovers the known result of Grover, Gutowski, Papadopoulos and Sabra. When $K>0$, $P=Z+W$ vanishes at every critical point of $\|η_-\|^2$, and two sub-branches occur, both realised. On the first, $P\equiv0$, the moduli are constant and the isometry follows by homogeneity, recovering Kunduri and Lucietti local geometries as a consequence of supersymmetry and compactness rather than an ansatz. On the second, $P\not\equiv0$, the moduli genuinely vary; closure of the first-order system ($dP=0$) turns the Killing equation for a vector orthogonal to $P$ into a flat rank-two system transported along $P$, solved explicitly by $U=\|η_-\|^2(h_YN-h_NY)$. Both sub-branches are non-empty on compact $\mathcal{S}$: known $U(1)^3$ black holes populate the first, and an explicit compact horizon from the non-static Kunduri-Lucietti family, with $P$ vanishing at two points, populates the second and verifies the extension hypothesis numerically. We also prove $K$ is identically zero or everywhere positive, exclude a hidden Killing-tensor symmetry, and leave the $S^1\times S^2$ black-ring window $\tfrac13Φ^2<χ^2K\leq\tfrac43Φ^2$ unexcluded on either sub-branch.

In a thermodynamic environment, thermal field theory (TFT) describes a large ensemble of interacting particles. This may appear to be the same as in classical statistical mechanics. Therefore, we study the scalar propagator and fermion propagator by considering an arbitrary parameter $σ$ that allows for a path integral description in real-time formalism (RTF). We constructed those propagators which allowed us to know how particles moved from one point to another point in momentum space as well as in mixed space, at finite temperature without a chemical potential.

For an untwisted Wess--Zumino--Witten modular tensor category $\cC(\mathfrak g,k)$, let $r(\mathfrak g,k)$ be the number of simple objects and $\cD(\mathfrak g,k)$ its total quantum dimension. The vacuum-flux state on a torus divided into two cylinders has positive universal entropy contribution $Γ_{T^2}=2\log\cD$. We maximize this quantity over all simple Lie algebras and positive integral levels subject to $r(\mathfrak g,k)\leq R$. If $q_R=\log_2R$, then $Γ_{\max}(R)\sim[7ζ(3)/(4π^2)]q_R^2$ as $R\to\infty$. The sequence $Sp(2n)_n$ attains the asymptotic coefficient. At equal rank and level, the Fourier expansion of the type-$C$ root product loses its even modes, leaving $2π^{-2}\sum_{m\,\mathrm{odd}}m^{-3}=7ζ(3)/(4π^2)$. An entropy--spectral inequality proves optimality among the classical families, while rank--level duality and fixed-rank estimates control unbalanced and exceptional sequences.

We study singular generalized Dirac-oscillator couplings in the near-horizon region of a nonextremal BTZ black hole. An effective covariant construction adapted to the stationary horizon congruence relates the two singular profiles to the proper acceleration and its radial gradient, whose leading near-horizon behaviors are $1/ρ$ and $1/ρ^2$. This motivates the family $\mathcal{L}_p(ρ)=λ_0+β_p/ρ^p$, with $p=1,2$. The $p=1$ system has a regular singular point and is Fuchsian, whereas $p=2$ is the first irregular case; more generally, a leading $ρ^{-p}$ interaction with $p>1$ has Poincaré rank $p-1$. For $p=1$, a constant spinor transformation reduces the matrix-Coulomb system exactly to the Whittaker equation, while elimination in the original basis gives an equivalent confluent-Heun representation with an apparent finite singularity. For $p=2$, the local branches contain the essential factors $e^{\pmβ_2/ρ}ρ^{-1/2}$, and their coefficient expansions exhibit generic factorial late-order growth. The finite-radius response $\mathcal{Z}_p(Ω;ρ_0)=ψ_{2,p}(ρ_0)/ψ_{1,p}(ρ_0)$ obeys an exact Riccati equation whose large-damping expansion first becomes sensitive to the radial gradient of the interaction at order $γ^{-3}$. Even when the two couplings are matched at $ρ_0$, this response retains information about their different pole orders. The response functions provide local spinorial data for subsequent matching to the complete BTZ exterior.

De Sitter unitarity and reflection positivity are logically independent. We study their relation for a free scalar field on a fixed de Sitter background, restricting attention to the one-particle sector. Motivated by Witten's de Sitter pairing and the radial adjoint of Bousso, Maloney and Strominger, we compose the invariant Hilbert product with equatorial reflection. In the standard principal-series realization, this form vanishes identically and its Osterwalder-Schrader quotient contains no states. For the complementary series, the reflected product becomes a nonzero reflected kernel on the unit ball. A result of Neeb and Ólafsson shows that this kernel is positive semidefinite precisely when the lower weight satisfies the scalar conformal unitarity bound. The resulting Hilbert space with the reflected inner product furnishes a positive-energy representation of AdS isometries according to Neeb and Ólafsson. We identify that the range coincides with the Klebanov-Witten alternative-quantization window from physics point of view. This correspondence suggests a novel relation from the representation viewpoint between AdS and dS without the conventional analytic continuation of radius.

The post-Minkowskian expansion of general relativity expands the metric in Newton's constant G around flat space-time, but much effort currently focuses on ways to extend its range of applicability by summing the perturbative series to all orders. A regime of particular interest is a specific high-energy limit where a formula derived recently provides the momentum kick of binary scattering problem to all orders, and even suggests an approach towards strong coupling. We show that this is an asymptotic expansion. Although the series diverges we give evidence that it is Borel summable, and the full function in integral form is finite. As a by-product we determine the transcendentality properties of the coefficients in the expanded expression.

In this work, we consider the interaction of massless $N=1$ supergravity with a massive (2,3/2,3/2,1) supermultiplet, as a possible candidate for a supersymmetric extension to bigravity. A gauge invariant description for massive spin-2, spin-3/2 and spin-1 fields is used. As a result of this, ambiguities arise related to possible field redefinitions, which are fixed by using a recently proposed method based on unfolded equations, and by restricting ourselves to interactions with the minimum number of derivatives (two for bosonic and one for fermionic vertices). It appears that this completely fixes the entire construction.

In previous work arXiv:2604.00160, we found soliton solutions in a deformation of the sine-Gordon theory in AdS spacetime that, in the infinite-radius limit, reduce to single-soliton solutions in flat space. In this paper, we find another single soliton solution that has no analog in flat space.

We identify CFT counterparts of Synge's identity for finite AdS geodesics in arbitrary dimensions. Starting from exact finite bulk--boundary pairs, the Synge equation induces endpoint scale equations for a Weyl-frame scalar two-point function and for the finite entanglement entropy between disjoint balls. In the planar frame, the common-scale correlator equation is the dilatation Ward identity. In the entanglement sector, the corresponding relative-scale equation is governed by a transverse hyperbolic area and reduces in two dimensions to the previously identified entanglement RG equation.

Let $W_{\cal O}[J]$ and $W_{\cal C}[J]$ denote the connected generating functionals of an open system and its closed system counterpart, and define the environment-induced contribution $W_{\rm IF}[J]$ by the difference: $ W_{\rm IF}[J]\equiv W_{\cal O}[J]-W_{\cal C}[J].$ The corresponding Legendre transforms, $Γ_{\cal O}$, $Γ_{\cal C}$, and $Γ_{\rm IF}$, do not obey an analogous additive relation but satisfy a stationary composition law given by: \[ Γ_{\cal O}[Φ] = \operatorname*{Stat}_Ψ \left\{ Γ_{\cal C}[Ψ] + Γ_{\rm IF}[Φ-Ψ] \right\} \] where ${\rm Stat}$ denotes evaluation at a solution of the stationarity condition with respect to $Ψ$. This variational composition applies to both local and nonlocal Schwinger-Keldysh effective actions in nonequilibrium quantum field theory. We illustrate its linear and nonlinear realizations through quadratic theories and general time independent effective actions, respectively.
