We study warped compactifications of eleven-dimensional supergravity on eight-manifolds to Minkowski or AdS vacua preserving $N=1$ supersymmetry in three dimensions. For backgrounds characterised by a local G$_2$ structure, we derive an off-shell real superpotential functional in terms of the internal geometry and fluxes without performing a finite Kaluza-Klein truncation. We obtain this expression in two independent ways: from the dimensional reduction of the gravitino variation and from the reduction of the eleven-dimensional gravitino action. We show that the critical-point equations, together with the vacuum value of the superpotential, are equivalent to the full set of supersymmetry conditions implied by the eleven-dimensional Killing spinor equations. When the local G$_2$ structure enhances to a global Spin(7) structure, our result reduces to the known superpotential for M-theory on Spin(7) manifolds.

We study the energy-energy correlator (EEC) in heavy states of four-dimensional $\mathcal N=4$ super Yang--Mills theory in the large-charge 't Hooft limit, in which the dimension $Δ$ of the heavy operator (or, equivalently, its $R$-charge) is taken to infinity with the effective coupling $λ_Q \propto g_{\mathrm{YM}}^2Δ$ held fixed. The relevant heavy-heavy-light-light four-point correlators are known to all orders in $λ_Q$ in this limit. For certain classes of operators, the perturbative series can be resummed to obtain exact finite-coupling expressions. We use these results to determine the corresponding EEC, whose dynamical part can be extracted from a double discontinuity of the four-point correlator. We determine the EEC at finite effective coupling and study its physical behavior as a function of $λ_Q$ and the angular separation between the detectors, both at generic angles and in the collinear and back-to-back limits.

We construct a family of self-dual $(1+1)$-dimensional $\mathbb{CP}^1$ sigma models whose potentials $V$ are determined from pre-potentials $U$ by Platonic geometry. Using the round metric on $\mathbb{S}^2\simeq\mathbb{CP}^1$ and the generalized self-duality formalism, we build symmetry-invariant pre-potentials $U$ from the unit vertices of each Platonic solid intersecting the unit circumsphere. The regular-lattice sites associated with vertex, face-center, and edge-midpoint directions are critical points of $U$ and degenerate vacua of the scalar potential $V$. Dual solids share the same regular lattice but generate different pre-potentials, charges, potentials, and metric-gradient flows. Numerical integration reveals distinct self-dual trajectories and energy-density profiles, including multi-peak structures for paths passing near saddle points, while solutions with the same endpoint difference $ΔU$ have the same total energy. The positive maxima of $V$ are also organized into symmetry orbits. This construction provides a geometric prescription for controlling the vacuum structure and self-dual sectors of $\mathbb{CP}^1$ models with a potential.

We present a generalization of T-duality, called $T_2$-duality, that captures certain aspects of U-duality in M-theory. In particular, it features backgrounds that contain a 2-gerbe over a principal torus bundle, structures familiar from eleven-dimensional supergravity backgrounds. In special cases, it also incorporates S-duality in a precise sense. Our main result is a theorem characterizing $T_2$-dual pairs through spans of categorified principal bundles with connections, giving explicit rules for constructing a $T_2$-dual for a given background. A number of explicit examples illustrate how the various characteristic classes are mapped between the left and right backgrounds. For two-dimensional torus fibers, we also relate our construction to the combination of dimensional reduction and T-duality that links eleven-dimensional supergravity to type IIB supergravity. Finally, we discuss how $T_2$-duality arises from a Buscher-like span of 3d sigma models.

We study tree-level completions of four-dimensional $\mathcal N=4$ Yang--Mills theory coupled to $\mathcal N=4$ supergravity. Six-point factorization and supersymmetry Ward identities, supplemented by a peculiar-parity restriction on scalar contact terms, impose nonlinear relations between the single- and double-trace Wilson coefficients, $a_{k,q}$ and $b_{k,q}$, of the four-gluon amplitude. The simplest relation, $κ^2a_{0,0}=0$, excludes the single-trace $F^4$ interaction at nonzero gravitational coupling, despite its compatibility with four-point supersymmetry. On this gravitational branch, five double-trace parameters determine all coefficients through $a_{7,q}$ and $b_{8,q}$, which are reproduced by a common exponential generating form. Both the heterotic string and a family of infinite-spin-tower (IST) amplitudes realize this structure. Combining these relations with dispersion relations and partial-wave positivity in $SO(N)$ color channels yields a narrow numerical band closely bounded by the heterotic and simplest IST amplitudes. A spin-dependent mass gap excludes the IST spectrum and further localizes the region near the heterotic trajectory. An analytic unitarity analysis of the simplest IST gives $N\leq48$ and $g^2/(κ^2 m^2)\leq4$, matching the upper limits of the heterotic amplitude, where $m$ is the mass of the first massive level. Along the heterotic trajectory, the numerical bounds also sharply constrain the gauge-to-gravity coupling ratio at $N=48$.

We study the near-horizon geometry of near-extremal NS5 branes, which admits an exact worldsheet description in terms of the $SL(2,\mathbb{R})_k/U(1)$ coset. In the supergravity limit, the analytically continued time-domain reflection amplitude exhibits a singularity associated with a null geodesic bouncing off the black-hole singularity, analogous to the bouncing singularities of boundary correlators in asymptotically AdS spacetimes. We show that finite-string-length effects render this amplitude an entire function of complex time, completely resolving the bouncing singularity. This resolution is nonperturbative in the inverse coset level: the singularity persists at every finite order in the expansion.

We demonstrate how horizon symmetries of AdS black holes are realised in the hydrodynamic actions for the dynamics of the dual stress tensor. A recent approach for obtaining such actions involves a choice of horizon boundary conditions, and we show that diffeomorphisms that preserve these give rise to symmetries of the corresponding hydrodynamic action. We obtain explicit hydrodynamic actions for small amplitude perturbations of black holes in JT and AdS$_3$ gravity using this approach and demonstrate explicitly the existence of these symmetries. For a natural choice of boundary conditions, the resulting actions manifestly realise gauge symmetries previously proposed for effective theories of maximal chaos.

Non-Abelian gauge theories above four dimensions may admit an interacting ultraviolet fixed point through the competition between canonical scaling and gauge-field antiscreening. Using the four-loop $\overline{\mathrm{MS}}$ beta function continued to $D=4+2ε$, we determine the largest dimension $D_{\mathrm{pt}}=4+2ε_{\mathrm{pt}}$ below which successive loop corrections to the fixed point remain hierarchically ordered under a specified ratio criterion, and map $D_{\mathrm{pt}}$ over color and flavor numbers for fermions in the fundamental representation of $SU(N)$. At $D=5$, we construct rational anomalous dimensions with a fixed, pole-regularized denominator inspired by the functional renormalization group (fRG). Matching to the $\overline{\mathrm{MS}}$ series through one, two, and three loops produces progressively smaller shifts in the critical flavor number and coupling at the ultraviolet--infrared merger (the point where the infrared and ultraviolet fixed points coincide), yielding $N_f^{\mathrm{cr}}\simeq 2.09 \, N$ at large $N$ in the three-loop construction. This low-order stabilization, together with qualitative evidence from fRG flows including higher gauge operators, suggests a potential merger scenario that bounds the candidate asymptotically safe region in flavor number. The resulting color--flavor map provides guidance for five-dimensional model building by displaying both the baseline perturbative-control boundary and the candidate three-loop merger boundary. Four-loop matching, however, retains an interacting ultraviolet fixed point beyond the three-loop merger boundary, with no merger found for integer $2\le N\le15$ and $0\le N_f/N\le11/2$. The sensitivity of the fixed-point structure to higher-order terms leaves both scenarios open, highlighting fixed-point annihilation as a potential constraint on five-dimensional asymptotic safety.

Jackiw-Teitelboim (JT) gravity with positive cosmological constant is a toy model to study the emergence of expanding de Sitter universes from a quantum state. Its density matrix is a superposition of double-trumpet amplitudes which are solutions of a Wheeler-DeWitt equation. We compare predictions of such mixed states for classical expanding universes with the corresponding predictions of no-boundary wavefunctions. Double-trumpet amplitudes consistent with holography, whose semiclassical limit matches the result from Schwarzian boundary fluctuations, lead to a flat probability distribution for the size of the universe, consistent with models of inflation. This is in contrast to the suppression of large universes predicted by no-boundary wave functions.

In this work, we theoretically investigate the non-equilibrium evolution of the correlation functions of a quantum scalar field following a mass quantum quench in a finite-size system. The self-consistent equation for the Keldysh (statistical) correlation function is solved numerically in the one-loop approximation. A specific spatio-temporal effect is observed: at a point in time approximately equal to half the system size, the effective mass experiences a strong disturbance. It is shown that this effect is driven by the interference of counter-propagating wave fronts of fluctuations that propagate within the light cone and is induced by periodic boundary conditions.

Multipartite entanglement measures probe how quantum correlations are organized beyond what can be inferred from pairwise entropies. We study how this structure is reshaped by a physical boundary in a holographic BCFT. The end-of-the-world brane opens new relative-homology channels for multipartite entanglement, allowing connected bulk webs to reorganize and factorize at scales that need not coincide with any ordinary Ryu--Takayanagi transition. In static AdS$_3$/BCFT$_2$, this produces a characteristic hierarchy of multipartite phases and a nontrivial dependence of genuine multi-entropy on the boundary. In the thermofield-double state, genuinely connected webs can instead be supported through the Einstein--Rosen bridge, leading to growth, reconnection and saturation scales distinct from the usual Hartman--Maldacena transitions. These results show that multipartite entanglement is sensitive not only to extremal-surface areas but also to how bulk entanglement structures are allowed to join, split and terminate in the presence of a boundary.

Using notions from graded Poisson geometry, we develop a framework that allows for concise formulations of field theories such as Einstein-Cartan and Palatini-Cartan gravity. We show that Einstein-Cartan gravity is equivalent to a variant of Palatini-Cartan gravity in which the vielbein fields are constrained to satisfy appropriate symmetry relations, which we refer to as constrained vielbein gravity. To that end, we relate these theories via a diffeomorphism of graded manifolds. We then show how to obtain the full Palatini-Cartan theory by removing the symmetry constraint. Finally, we show how our graded geometric framework allows for a direct incorporation of the minimal BV extension of the graded constrained vielbein and Palatini-Cartan theories.

We compute the entanglement entropy of quantum matter in spacetimes with a Killing horizon entirely on-shell, by integrating the first law of thermodynamics along a one-parameter family of equilibrium backgrounds labelled by the Hawking temperature. This yields a closed expression in terms of the renormalized stress-energy tensor and the Killing vector, finite by construction, with no replicas and no conical singularities. Its covariant form agrees with the matter terms of the Bardeen--Carter--Hawking mass variation formula. We show in details that for static patch of de Sitter space and for the non-rotating BTZ black hole it reproduces the conical entropy exactly, contact term $Q$ included.

We present a spacetime that serves as a horizonless mimicker of extremal black holes. Unlike previously studied mimickers of black holes with non-degenerate horizons, whose geometries are of the wormhole type and consist of two asymptotically flat regions connected by a very long throat, the mimicker of an extremal black hole possesses a single asymptotically flat region at one end and an infinitely long throat at the other. In the throat region, the spacetime approaches the direct-product geometry $M_{1,1} \times S^2$, where $M_{1,1}$ is two-dimensional Minkowski spacetime and $S^2$ is the two-sphere. We investigate scalar-field dynamics and the fate of the Aretakis instability. Although Aretakis-like modes arise in a local analysis of the throat, they do not lead to a physical instability of the mimicker. A scalar perturbation initially localized in the throat gives rise, at late times, to a sequence of signals with a characteristic separation $t_{\rm delay}\sim 1/λ$, where $λ\ll 1$ is a deformation parameter. This timescale is parametrically larger than the echo time $t_{\rm echo}\sim \ln(1/λ)$ characteristic of non-extremal black-hole mimickers. We refer to this sequence as a {\it long-delay signal train}. Geometrically, the periodicity of the long-delay signals is associated with periodic geodesics on $S^2$. We then extend the construction to extremal Kerr. In this case, the throat region approaches a generalized product geometry involving $M_{1,1}$ and a two-dimensional surface $Σ_2$. The corresponding signals are expected to form a quasi-periodic signal train, reflecting the quasi-periodic geodesic motion on $Σ_2$. We also comment on the generalization to wormhole mimickers of non-extremal black holes and on the implications of these results for unitarity in the context of the AdS/CFT correspondence.

We present a non-perturbative formulation of quantum gravity in asymptotically flat spacetimes using Witten's cubic open string field theory (OSFT) on unstable D-branes. Given that the massless spin-2 sector of the closed string spectrum inherently encodes the degrees of freedom of quantum gravity, we establish this connection by mapping on-shell closed string excitations directly to gauge-invariant operators in OSFT, realizing a concrete flat-space analogue of the AdS/CFT correspondence. By evaluating the OSFT correlation functions of these operators perturbatively around the tachyon vacuum, we systematically reproduce the all-orders genus expansion of the closed string S-matrix for the associated states. This demonstrates that closed string theory-and thus quantum gravity-emerges dynamically from the open string tachyon vacuum, establishing Witten's OSFT as a fully calculable, non-perturbative framework for flat-space quantum gravity.

We investigate fermionic spectral functions in a two-current Gubser-Rocha background with linear-axion momentum relaxation. Serving as a comparison channel, the dipole coupling $p_1$ is found to produce a soft asymmetric reconstruction without opening a clean hard Mott gap. Our main analysis then focuses on two axion-dependent non-minimal couplings modulated by current mixing. The $p_2$ tensor channel suppresses the zero-energy Fermi peak and shifts the dominant spectral weight to finite frequencies, resulting in a flat-bottom reconstruction. In contrast, the $p_3$ vector channel creates a strong spectral asymmetry in momentum space, generating open, Fermi-arc-like segments. Varying the momentum-relaxation strength $β/μ$ and the doping parameter $χ$ reveals a channel-dependent response to the two-current background. Increasing $β/μ$ generally broadens the $p_2$ response, whereas the one-sided $p_3$ feature varies non-monotonically under changes of the background parameters. These results clarify how current mixing, axion-induced momentum relaxation, and non-minimal fermion couplings jointly reshape holographic fermionic excitations. These results clarify how current mixing, axion-induced momentum relaxation, and non-minimal fermion couplings jointly reshape holographic fermionic excitations.

In quantum mechanics of genus-1 potentials, perturbation theory around the topologically trivial saddle and non-perturbative instanton saddle are constructively related via the P/NP relation. Whether such a relation persists for higher-genus potentials has remained an open problem. In this work, we resolve it using tools from complex algebraic geometry combined with exact WKB. The classical energy conservation relation $p^2 = 2(E-V(q))$ defines a genus-g Riemann surface $X$, whose periods are naturally organized by its Jacobian variety $J(X) = \mathbb{C}^{\text{g}}/Λ$ via the Abel-Jacobi map, and independently by the solution basis of the associated Picard-Fuchs equations. We show that the physically relevant, WKB-active cycles are generally related to the Picard-Fuchs basis by a linear transformation that lies in $\text{SL}(2\text{g},\mathbb{Z})$ but not in the symplectic group $\text{Sp}(2\text{g},\mathbb{Z})$ once $\text{g}\geq2$, in contrast to the genus-1 case, where the two groups coincide. This mismatch is the obstruction that has made an explicit higher-genus P/NP relation elusive. We show that it can be resolved by passing to a modified Riemann bilinear identity, built from a suitably transformed intersection matrix, which the WKB-active periods do satisfy exactly. The result is an all-orders quantum P/NP relation valid for potentials of arbitrary genus, which we derive explicitly for genus-2 (quintic and sextic) and genus-3 (septic and octic) anharmonic oscillators.

Using the Mellin-Barnes representation of de Sitter propagators, we reduce tree-level heavy-particle exchange to finite integrals that converge at physical kinematics on mass-independent contours, and one-loop diagrams to the same integrand times a flat-space momentum factor. We evaluate the triple-exchange bispectrum without analytic continuation and compute the complete one-loop triangle at general mass. These give cosmological collider predictions, the oscillatory signatures of heavy particles during inflation, for multiple exchanges and loops at arbitrary masses.

We determine the equal-mass two-dimensional three- and four-loop sunset Feynman integrals $I^{(3)}_\circleddash$ and $I^{(4)}_\circleddash$ at large Euclidean momentum in terms of the genus-zero Gromov--Witten theory of the local Calabi--Yau fourfold and fivefold $X_L=\operatorname{Tot}(K_{F_L})$, where $F_L\subset(\mathbb P^1)^{L+1}$, $L=3,4$, is a smooth hypersurface of multidegree $(1,\ldots,1)$. At two loops the sunset integral is governed by the prepotential of a local Calabi--Yau threefold. For $L\geq3$ the moduli spaces of unmarked stable maps have positive virtual dimension and there is no prepotential, therefore the Feynman integral is governed instead by the one-point potential $\mathcal F_{γ_L}$ with insertion $γ_L=H^{L-1}/(L-1)!$, by its gravitational descendants, and by $ζ(3)$ boundary terms coming from the Gamma class. At both loop orders the coefficient of $R^{L-1}$ in the Frobenius expansion in the mirror coordinate $R$ is $-θ_Q\mathcal F_{γ_L}$ with the Novikov variable $Q=\exp(R)$. At three loops the whole Feynman integral is an explicit expression in $\mathcal F_{γ_3}$ alone, because genus-zero recursion determines all descendant series from it; at four loops two diagonal series suffice, and the $ζ(3)$ term is itself corrected by $θ_Q\mathcal F_{γ_4}$. At three loops we also derive the analytic normalization independently, from the Picard--Fuchs equation and the polar part of a Mellin transform, prove integrality of the multiple-cover transforms for arbitrary integral insertions together with an explicit quantum-$K$ formula, and compute the exact period connection polynomials. Finally we give endpoint values along the Euclidean axis, bounds on the Taylor radii in the Novikov variable $Q$, a computer-assisted proof of the four-loop endpoint nonanalyticity, and a comparison of the normalizations at two, three and four loops.

Asymptotic Safety provides a promising framework for the quantization of Scalar-Tensor theories as non-perturbatively renormalizable quantum field theories. Over the past years, growing evidence has accumulated for the existence of non-trivial renormalization group fixed points in a variety of Scalar-Tensor models. In this work, we investigate the robustness of these fixed points under significant modifications of the computational setup. In particular, we employ a gauge condition that explicitly depends on the dynamical scalar field, going beyond a mere gauge-parameter deformation of the standard linear covariant gauges commonly used in the literature. Exploring different field parameterizations, we identify fixed points belonging to the Gaussian Matter class in four spacetime dimensions that are consistent with previous studies. The real part of the critical exponents associated with the scalar-field mass and the non-minimal scalar-curvature coupling turn out to have very small absolute value. We provide a comprehensive exploration of how the anomalous dimension of the scalar field and field parameterization impact those critical exponents showing that fixed-point candidates with two or four relevant directions emerge.

The island proposal guarantees a unitary Page curve for evaporating black holes, implying that operators deep behind the horizon must be fully reconstructable from asymptotic Hawking radiation. However, because the interior is causally disconnected and highly dynamical, standard entanglement wedge reconstruction methods, relying on global isometries or continuous modular flow, fail to provide this mapping. We resolve this by constructing a protocol for island reconstruction using the algebraic Petz map. By using modular theory, we reflect island operators into the accessible complement, transport them to the boundary, and map them into the radiation algebra. Furthermore, we demonstrate that this purely algebraic derivation naturally yields the structure of Papadodimas-Raju mirror operators. This framework provides a rigorous operational dictionary for the island formula, proving that information trapped inside a black hole can be decoded.

We present a new derivation of the exact compact oscillon in the signum-Gordon model using Fourier methods. This approach decomposes the oscillon into an infinite, uniformly convergent series of discrete modes consisting of a fundamental frequency and its odd higher harmonics, in contrast to standard analytic potentials, where the corresponding infinite perturbative series fails to converge. Crucially, our oscillon evades the non-existence theorem for spatially localized, small-amplitude periodic states. We investigate the accuracy of truncating the Fourier series and find that the primary mode alone provides a remarkably accurate approximation of the exact solution, with agreement improving significantly when the first two non-vanishing harmonic modes are included. Furthermore, we generalize this framework to a swaying compact oscillon with a periodically moving boundary. We show that describing such an oscillon requires even-order modes, whose coupling with the odd source terms induces a dynamic modulation that generates the swaying motion, even though the spatial Fourier profiles themselves are time-independent.

We study gauge-invariant two-matrix polynomials of degree $L$, corresponding to the states in the $su(2)$ sector of $\mathcal{N}=4$ super Yang-Mills theory with gauge group $U(N)$ or $SU(N)$ at finite $N$. For the $U(N)$ theory, the state space has the structure of an algebra $\mathcal{A}_N(L)$, which is a direct sum of permutation centraliser algebras, i.e. sub-algebras of the group algebra $\mathbb{C}[S_L]$ of $S_L$. For $N \ge L$, $\mathcal{A}_N (L) = \mathcal{A} (L)$ is independent of $N$, and the one-loop dilatation operator acts on $\mathcal{A}(L)$ with $N$ as a parameter. For $N < L$, $\mathcal{A}_N (L)$ is a subspace of $\mathcal{A}(L)$ defined using a finite-$N$ cutoff on Young diagrams with $L$ boxes. We establish two results on the eigenspaces of the one-loop dilatation operator. Our first main result is that the characteristic polynomial of the one-loop dilatation operator on $\mathcal{A}_N(L)$ divides the characteristic polynomial from $\mathcal{A}(L)$, continued to $N < L$. Our second result is that each eigenstate of the one-loop dilatation operator in the $SU(N)$ theory generates an infinite tower of eigenstates in the $U(N)$ theory, through the multiplication of single-letter traces. These towers define an eigenspace factorisation of the $U(N)$ theory labelled by the number of such traces. Further, we conjecture that the space of $SU(N)$-invariant polynomials in two traceless matrices at finite $N$ is isomorphic to the intersection of $\mathcal{A}_N(L)$ with the subspace of $\mathbb{C}[S_L]$ spanned by derangements. This intersection conjecture is supported by dimension counting. Finally, we propose a one-loop dilatation operator on the intersection, thus providing a direct permutation framework for the $SU(N)$ spectral problem at finite $N$. The computed spectra based on the proposal agree with the prediction from the eigenspace factorisation in the $U(N)$ theory.

The energy-energy correlator (EEC) is one of a handful of collider observables that can be computed analytically to high orders. As an energy-weighted cross-section, it exposes features of quantum field theory that scattering amplitudes do not, and it can be compared directly to data. As with scattering amplitudes, the analytic expressions require special functions beyond polylogarithms. In Henn et al., the EEC was computed to next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) for $\mathcal{N}=4$ super Yang-Mills (SYM) theory, and the result is expressed in terms of both harmonic polylogarithms (HPLs) and one two-fold integral, which contains elliptic curves. In this work, we report a complete result including the remaining elliptic sector, which is closely related to the sunrise Feynman integrals. We find the $j$-invariants of the EEC and the sunrise agree identically under a Möbius map, and thus the elliptic sector in the EEC lives on the $Γ_1(6)$ modular curve of the sunrise integral. We then express the answer in terms of iterated Eisenstein integrals, which can be evaluated to high precision quickly. The analytic form also allows a first study of the EEC Landau bootstrap, and the understanding of its function space in $\mathcal{N}=4$ SYM offers a concrete handle on the elliptic sector of the EEC in QCD. Many of the technical results in this paper were completed with AI under human supervision.

We study two-point functions of chiral primary operators in $\mathcal{N}=4$ Super Yang-Mills in the presence of a half-BPS surface defect. Such a defect preserves only the diagonal combination of transverse rotations and of a global U(1) R-symmetry, so that the correlator depends on one additional cross-ratio and splits into sectors of definite angular charge. We solve the superconformal Ward identities and construct the bulk and defect superconformal blocks in all sectors, including the charged ones, which have no analogue for defects preserving transverse rotations. The solution contains a holomorphic sector, which we fix non-perturbatively by mapping it to a chiral algebra correlator. We extend this map to defects breaking transverse rotations, where it requires a redefinition of the modes of the two-dimensional current algebra, and use it to fix the charged sectors as well. We then use the defect dispersion relation to reconstruct the full correlator of the dimension-two chiral primary at leading order at large N and strong coupling. In the charged sectors long multiplets are absent and the answer is conjecturally exact in both N and the coupling; expanding it at weak coupling, we find perfect agreement with known results. From these correlators we extract infinitely many new pieces of defect CFT data. Finally, we reproduce the strong-coupling answer by an independent Witten diagram bootstrap on the rotation-invariant locus.

We study the Carroll-Weyl gauged null string in the Poincaré patch of $\mathrm{AdS}_D$ and its BRST quantization. In Poincaré coordinates $X^A=(z,x^i)$, the radial conformal Killing vector $K=\partial_z$ becomes homothetic in a suitable conformally related frame. A field-dependent rescaling of the homothetic Hamiltonian constraint then leads to the radial-adapted basis $\mathcal{M}=\frac{1}{2}(P_z^2+P_iP^i)$, $\mathcal{L}=-P_AX'^A$, and $\mathcal{S}=P_z$, with $\mathcal{M}$ invariant along the Carroll-Weyl radial flow. Their modes form a $\mathrm{BMS}_3$ algebra extended by an abelian weight-one current. We classify the central extensions allowed by this residual algebra and find four independent cohomology classes in the $LL$, $LM$, $LS$, and $SS$ channels. We then construct the associated BRST complex, including the ghost pair for the radial Carroll-Weyl constraint. In the canonical highest-weight first-order representation, only the Virasoro-type central extension is realized: $(c_{LL},c_{LM},c_{LS},c_{SS})=(2D-54,0,0,0)$. Cancellation of the corresponding nontrivial BRST cocycle therefore gives $D=27$ in this representation. This differs structurally from the minimal flat Carroll-Weyl theory, where the dilation constraint $X\cdot P$ gives extra anomaly channels.

We introduce a systematic scheme for constructing the ODE/IM counterpart of generalised Gibbs ensembles, and apply it to the chiral sector of the Lee--Yang conformal field theory. We encode the chemical potentials in a deformation of the cubic oscillator, fixed order by order by requiring that the large-energy WKB period reproduces exactly the driving term of the corresponding thermodynamic Bethe ansatz equation; the subleading WKB periods then yield, as predictions, the deformed eigenvalues of the local conserved charges. We work out the spin-5 ensemble in detail for two states of the model: the ground state, in the module of the primary $φ$, dual to the deformed cubic oscillator, and the primary of the identity module, dual to the same oscillator supplemented by an apparent singularity, a double pole whose position is fixed by a trivial-monodromy condition. In both cases, the Stokes multiplier obeys the Lee--Yang Y-system, and the deformed eigenvalues match, to the orders checked, an independent conformal-field-theory computation. The Borel resummation of the resulting series for the ground-state energy reproduces the numerical TBA solution over many orders of magnitude in the chemical potential. The scheme relies only on general features of the ODE/IM correspondence and applies to generalised Gibbs ensembles in other integrable models.

We show that the known six-point constraints on four-point amplitudes are sufficient for completion at arbitrary multiplicity in planar, four-dimensional maximally supersymmetric gauge theory. We construct massless tree amplitudes as formal series in the derivative expansion, with the standard supersymmetric Yang-Mills three-point amplitudes, unbroken R-symmetry, and parity invariance of amplitudes with only external scalars, holding the scalar labels fixed. For a positive leading four-point contact coefficient, the even coefficients in the logarithmic parameterization are fixed, while every real sequence of odd coefficients is realized by a completion at all derivative orders. The construction uses the field-theory Kawai-Lewellen-Tye bilinear and normalized matrices of sphere integrals. Exponentiating homogeneous components of their matrix logarithms varies the odd coefficients independently while preserving locality and factorization through the complete massless multiplet. The six-point conditions are therefore necessary and sufficient for such a completion. Higher-multiplicity consistency imposes no further restrictions on these four-point coefficients once the higher-point contact interactions are chosen consistently with the same symmetries and factorization conditions.

The tensor branch of six-dimensional $\mathcal N=(1,0)$ supergravity is characterized by a spectrum of BPS strings charged under the two-form gauge fields. Their charges span a cone in the tensor charge lattice, whose extremal rays are generated by primitive BPS string charges that become tensionless at the boundaries of the tensor moduli space. We develop a systematic procedure, based entirely on effective field theory data, to reconstruct the primitive BPS string generators and thereby determine the complete closed BPS string cone of any 6d $(1,0)$ supergravity theory. The key ingredients are the universal {\it H}-string, which allows us to isolate a fixed sector determined by classified LST blocks and gauge anomaly data from the remaining gauge-neutral E-string sector, and a BPS refinement of the Completeness Conjecture that ensures population of the relevant charge rays. We further show that this reconstruction provides new constraints on the low-energy theory and can rule out candidate EFTs that pass all previously known local lattice and anomaly consistency conditions. Separately, for theories admitting geometric tensor bases, we explain how the same reconstruction determines the complete Mori cone of the corresponding Kähler surface.

We compute the energy-energy correlator in a state created by a heavy canonical operator of scaling dimension $Δ_H$ in $\mathcal{N}=4$ $SU(N)$ SYM, at fixed $N$ and arbitrary values of the large charge 't Hooft coupling $λ\sim Δ_H g_{\rm YM}^2$. The state created by the canonical operator triggers spontaneous breaking of conformal symmetry and the Higgs mechanism, with squared W-boson masses proportional to $λ$. We start with the known finite-coupling result for the underlying four-point function of local operators, perform the detector and Fourier transforms and express the resulting energy-energy correlator as an infinite OPE sum in the source-detector channel, which we then analyze both numerically and analytically. We show that the finite-coupling energy-energy correlator exhibits a hierarchy of distinct physical regimes as a function of $z=(1-\cosθ)/2$, where $θ$ is the angle between the detectors. A small-angle vacuum-dominated behavior at $z\llλ^{-1}$ is followed by a non-monotonic medium-induced transient behavior at $λz \sim1$. A large charge jet regime follows, where the energy-energy correlator displays a power-law behavior $\sim1/(λz^3)$ for $λ^{-1}\lesssim z \lesssim λ^{-1/3}$, before approaching an angle-independent plateau at larger angles.

We construct the entanglement entropy of a general scattering process between one particle species (denoted as $A$) and the rest of the final state. Assuming a pure initial momentum eigenstate, we show that the reduced density matrix in particle $A$'s Fock space is block-diagonal in zero-, one- and multi-particle states, and is diagonal in the momentum basis for the one-particle state. As a result, we could write down the Von Neumann entropy of particle $A$, $S_A$, in terms of scattering probabilities and differential cross sections, assuming no more than one particle $A$ is produced in the final state. $S_A$ contains the information of both the total scattering probabilities (or cross sections) and the differential distributions --- the latter depends on a phase-space resolution factor as a result of the infinite-dimensional momentum Hilbert space. Our result is general and model-independent since we consider the full final state from time evolution ($S|i\rangle$) rather than a specific outcome, and is applicable as long as the probability for producing multiple particle $A$ is subleading. We also obtain the $n\geq2$ Tsallis and Rényi entropies in our framework and find out that, at the leading order, they are proportional to the total scattering probability and carry no differential information.

We construct the general theory of a spin-1 field propagating on an inflationary background consistent with scale invariance, rotations, Bunch-Davies conditions and microcausality. Our Boostless Proca theory generalises the usual massive Proca theory to a Lagrangian with 5 free parameters: 4 corresponding to parity-even terms and a single parity-odd term. We impose three degrees of freedom from the outset and find that microcausality, the statement that field operators vanish outside the lightcone, requires the kinetic terms to be gauge invariant. We couple this spin-1 state to the inflaton and study the signatures it imprints on cosmological correlators. We find no new signals for the bispectrum meaning that the known signals are the most general thereby providing a very clean model-independent probe of new physics in this leading form of non-Gaussianity. For the trispectrum and higher-point functions, the boostless Proca theory produces new shapes with all 5 parameters in principle measurable.

We use the massive spinor-helicity formalism to describe a novel construction for massive spinors which allows one to connect the many choices of bases useful in the representation of amplitudes involving massive particles, and we use this to derive a new formulation for the general BCFW shift that is valid regardless whether or which of the particles involved are massive or massless. This formalism should help facilitate a more coherent implementation of on-shell recursion for computing amplitudes involving massive particles in four dimensions.

We argue that the scattering amplitude of a single minus helicity gluon with arbitrarily many positive helicity gluons is topological. The amplitude is constant in chambers of kinematic space, its resonances are located at walls and its factorization is determined by wall-crossing. Yangian invariance dictates the amplitude to be determined by a 2d null Wilson loop that can be lifted into a positive and transverse 3d link. By reinterpreting wall-crossing and the Weinberg soft theorem as skein relations and Reidemeister moves of the subknots, we construct a state-counting description consisting of adding the `corners' of their HOMFLY-PT polynomials. Beyond the classical limit, we argue that this provides a conjectured but precise connection to topological field and string theory. The new formula is rigorously derived via a Lean-formalized dependency graph (DAG) as detailed in a companion paper, laying out the precise assumptions including Reidemeister III invariance. It is further tested exhaustively, including novel `star' kinematics where the amplitude and state count are shown to become Catalan numbers, in agreement with knot theory literature.

We study magnets composed of molecules with an arbitrary number $m$ of magnetically active atoms in a chain configuration interacting with nearest-neighbor couplings. We derive the thermodynamics of a chain of spin-$j$ $SU(2)$ magnetic atoms using a mean-field approach and determine the equilibrium states and stability conditions. The system exhibits a rich phase structure with a cascade of ferromagnetic phase transitions, their number ranging from $m$, for maximal ferromagnets, to zero, for paramagnets, depending on the relative strengths of the couplings. In the presence of impurities (modified couplings) at the ends of the chain, boundary states emerge that coexist with the paramagnetic phase or the fully ferromagnetic phase. For long chains, a continuum approximation can be taken that clarifies the structure of the phases. In the continuum description, magnetized states at temperatures lower than the critical temperature at which they appear correspond to kink solitons.

Hawking amplitudes provide a new way of determining the Hawking spectrum of black holes, using on-shell techniques borrowed from the literature on scattering amplitudes. In this paper, we investigate the interplay between the semi-classical and weak-field approximations previously used to compute Hawking amplitudes. We find that these limits do not necessarily commute, highlighting subtleties with the saddle point analyses governing the semi-classical limit. Resolving these issues allows us to compute semi-classical Hawking amplitudes in a range of black-hole backgrounds, including Tangherlini, Reissner-Nordström, and Hernquist metrics. Moreover, we describe the saddle-point contributions dominating Hawking amplitudes for different energies and propose a new method for determining the temperature of the resulting thermal spectrum based on Stokes lines of Hawking amplitudes.

It has been argued that in quantum gravity the Hilbert space associated with any closed universe is trivially one-dimensional. To reconcile this argument with the richness of our own universe, it was suggested that a nontrivial Hilbert space will emerge once an ``observer" is included. Such an ``observer" has been modeled in different ways. There are three concrete classes of models: $\textbf{1)}$ The ``observer" is modeled by a term in the full Hamiltonian of the system which is linear in a phase space variable; $\textbf{2)}$ The ``observer" is modeled in the quantum circuit model of holography as a subsystem in the closed universe which is entangled with an external non-gravitational system; $\textbf{3)}$ The ``observer" is argued to be described by the emergent Goldstone bosons when the diffeomorphisms are spontaneously broken. In fact, the third class was discovered by an attempt to physically realize the first class. In this paper, we will show that the second class can also be unified into the third class. Our result indicates that the emergence of the ``observer" is a manifestation of the $\textit{Massive Islands}$ paradigm. It demonstrates that the graviton mass is a feature of the quantum state. One should think of the islands as closed universes and the Goldstone boson associated with the graviton mass as the ``observer", which is exactly the case at late-times for evaporating black holes. An implication of this work is that the ``observer" can ``observe" global symmetries in quantum gravity.

We show that the radial sector of a Carroll-Weyl gauged null string in Poincaré $\mathrm{AdS}_D$ is locally trivial in BRST cohomology. In a quotient-adapted BFV basis, the radial coordinate, its conjugate momentum, and the associated ghosts form a contractible quartet. An explicit contracting homotopy extends this reduction to the full algebra of local spatial jets, leaving precisely the $(D-1)$-dimensional ILST BRST complex. The same quartet carries zero net Virasoro central charge, so that the anomaly condition of the parent theory, $D=27$, descends to the ILST condition $d=26$.

We show that the radial differential equation for a scalar field in an anti-de Sitter black brane background can be encoded in an exactly solvable semi-infinite spin chain independent of dimensionality. The radial coordinate emerges as lattice quasimomentum. Spin coherence encodes the geometry, while the spectrum and response recover gravitational observables and yield exact screening-mass sum rules. We implement the finite chain on a superconducting processor. At finite filling and low energies, the model yields a conformal field theory in a coordinate proportional to proper radial distance.

We construct unitary, local, 3+1-dimensional conformal field theories with finitely many fields whose thermal state breaks a continuous global symmetry at every temperature. They are finite-$N$ versions of the Chaudhuri--Choi--Rabinovici theories, whose planar circle of fixed points has an ordered arc. The circle is lifted at order $1/N^2$, and an infinite family of fixed points on this arc reaches arbitrarily weak coupling, where the superfluid is under parametric control. We also show that weakly gauging the symmetry gives a superconductor over an exponential range of temperatures.

We study the pole mass for a heavy quark probe in the Gross--Neveu model, at the first non-trivial order in the $1/N$ expansion. We show that this mass suffers from a perturbative renormalon ambiguity structurally similar to the one in QCD. The exact large $N$ solution leads however to an explicit expression for the pole mass which can be decoded as a trans-series, and we find that non-perturbative corrections cure the renormalon ambiguity. We also calculate the self-energy of the heavy quark beyond perturbation theory by using the OPE method with condensates, and show that the results are in agreement with the large $N$ solution. The non-perturbative corrections to the pole mass turn out to be determined to a large extent by the condensate corrections to the self-energy. However, there is a class of corrections that has to be reorganized due to on-shell effects and cannot be obtained from the conventional condensate expansion. We discuss possible implications of this toy model for QCD.

A holographic superconductor whose scalar mass depends on the gauge field strength, $M(\Fsq)$, reproduces a superconducting dome for a suitable $M$, and recovering that $M$ from a given dome has so far taken days for a single training run. We propose a new way of training this model, with which an inversion takes from about ten minutes to an hour. Training needs the gradient of the condition that fixes the critical temperature, which the earlier method obtains by finite differences, repeating the bulk integrations for every training parameter. Here that condition is obtained, without any fit, from two integrations started at the horizon and at the boundary, and its derivative with respect to $M$ is an integral over the same two solutions, so the gradient needs no integration of its own. We use the speed to study the part of $M$ that a dome cannot determine, on the interval between the value $\Fsq$ takes at the horizon for the lowest doping and $\Fsq=0$, at which $M$ is the scalar mass $M(0)$ that fixes the dimension of the dual operator. We hold the scalar mass at several values, which we call pinned masses, retrain everything else at each, and find that the reconstructions agree wherever the horizons of the dome reach, including the minima of $M$, and differ only on that interval. A rule that keeps the reconstruction with the simplest closed form recovers both the scalar mass and the mass function of a test dome. On Gaussian and double-Gaussian domes and on the measured phase diagrams of YBa$_{2}$Cu$_{3}$O$_{y}$ and 2M-WS$_{2}$, however, the pinned mass it keeps rests on ties or on narrow margins, so for these targets the scalar mass is left open. The dome thus constrains $M$ where its horizons reach, and fixing the dimension of the dual operator needs a second observable.

We give algebraic proofs of two conjectural relations between quantum $A$-periods and thermodynamic Bethe ansatz (TBA)-like equations for quantum mirror curves. The quadratic relation follows from constant terms of shifted product expansions. For higher-degree relations, a cyclic quantum-torus trace and a finite matrix determinant identify the period with the free energy of nonoverlapping rods. Their density equation yields the TBA-like equation, with normalization fixed by the rod length. Both proofs hold as formal power series in the complex structure parameter, with exact dependence on $q=e^{i\hbar}$.

Part I: Semiclassical Gravity Efficiently Solves $\mathsf{NP}$-Complete Problems Assuming the gravitational field is classical and that it couples to quantum fields via the semiclassical Einstein field equations (EFEs), we show that the weak-field dynamics of a massive and non-relativistic qubit can in principle be used to solve an $\mathsf{NP}$-complete problem in polynomial time. We attribute this vast computational power to the non-linear qubit dynamics afforded by the semiclassical EFEs. Consequently, the above two assumptions entail a violation of the Physical Extended Church--Turing Thesis, which we regard as evidence for the quantization of gravity. Part II: Spacetime Quasicrystals We generalize self-similar quasicrystals, such as the Penrose tilings, from Euclidean space to Minkowski spacetime. We construct the first examples of Lorentzian quasicrystals and identify their key novel features. We then explore possible connections to fundamental physics. First, we propose a speculative scenario in which our $(3+1)$D universe is embedded in a particularly symmetric $(9+1)$D torus $\mathbb{T}^{9,1}$, previously identified as the most symmetric toroidal compactification of the superstring. We suggest that this construction may shed light on the seesaw relation $M_{\rm Pl}M_{\rm vac} \approx M_{\rm EW}^{2}$ between the Planck, vacuum-energy, and electroweak scales. Second, we replace the random causal sets of causal set theory with ordered, highly symmetric quasi-crystalline causal sets. We find suggestive evidence that our quasicrystals outperform Poisson random sets in the number-volume correspondence in both $(1+1)$D and $(3+1)$D, where such behaviour has been conjectured to be impossible. Finally, extending hyperuniformity from space to spacetime, we show that our $(1+1)$D quasicrystal is the first demonstrated example of a spacetime-hyperuniform structure.

We study the singlet sector of large-$N$, $O(N)$ vector model on $S^1_β\times S^2_r$ in presence of an angular potential $Ω$. We compute the free energy of the model both at the free fixed point as well as the non-trivial fixed point. The model undergoes a phase transition when the temperature $T$ and angular potential attain the relation $T^2r^2\sim N (1-ω^2)$, where $ω=rΩ$ and $r$ is the radius of $S^2$, with $Tr\gg1$, at both the fixed points, with different numerical coefficients. The transition was studied earlier at zero angular potential at $Tr\sim \sqrt{N}$. The holonomy eigenvalue distribution, having support on the full circle below the transition, develops a gap above it, called the Gross-Witten-Wadia transition. The angular potential introduces an additional parameter to such a transition, tuning it, the transition can occur even at a fixed temperature. We show that for the free model transition can occur as $1-ω^2\sim 1/N$ while $Tr\sim O(1)$. For the interacting model the computation is performed at a limit $Tr\gg1$, thus we show the same at a large but fixed temperature which does not scale as $\sqrt{N}$. In the ungapped phase, the free energy exhibits a double pole near $ω^2=1$ for both the fixed points. This is possibly due to the fact that the theory projected onto the singlets is non-local and therefore need not obey the leading simple pole scaling of a local thermal effective action.

Four-dimensional $\mathcal{N}=3$ superconformal field theories (SCFTs) are an exotic class of quantum field theories that admit no conventional Lagrangian description. In this Letter, we construct an $\mathcal{N}=1$ supersymmetric gauge theory and argue that its infrared fixed point exhibits supersymmetry enhancement to an $\mathcal{N}=3$ SCFT. The ultraviolet theory has gauge group $SU(2)^3$, a set of chiral multiplets, and a suitable superpotential. By performing $a$-maximization, we obtain infrared central charges $a=c=5/4$, matching those of the rank-one $\mathcal{N}=3$ $\mathbb{Z}_3$ S-fold SCFT. The ultraviolet gauge-theory description allows us to compute the full superconformal index with four independent fugacities. We then examine various limits of the full index and further propose a closed-form expression for the Macdonald index, reproducing all known results for the proposed $\mathcal{N}=3$ theory. More remarkably, we argue that further gauging the $\mathcal{N}=3$ theory yields the frozen rank-one $\mathcal{N}=2$ SCFT conjectured from Seiberg--Witten geometry, providing strong evidence for its existence and unlocking its previously inaccessible full superconformal index. Our construction thus opens a systematic route to exploring the refined protected structure of these exotic, intrinsically strongly coupled theories using conventional $\mathcal{N}=1$ Lagrangian techniques.

When computing tree-level amplitudes of the nonlinear sigma model (NLSM) via the BCFW on-shell recursion relation, boundary terms are inevitable. Here, the BCFW recursion relation refers to the original prescription with momentum-shifts on two external legs, as opposed to the generalized versions with redefined momentum-shifts. We propose a simple general scheme that determines the boundary terms of NLSM amplitudes recursively from lower-point amplitudes. Hidden zeros and mass dimensions severely constrain boundary terms, allowing us to compute these terms from the $2$-split property of the tree amplitudes. Combined with the existing rules in the literature for obtaining the two currents in the $2$-split from on-shell amplitudes, this scheme enables the recursive construction of boundary terms for higher-point amplitudes from lower-point amplitudes.

An expanding bubble in AdS$_5$ has a dS$_4$ geometry; the dark bubble scenario explores whether this can be our Universe. Motivated by this, we consider new non-supersymmetric AdS$_5$ compactifications of M-theory and investigate their non-perturbative instabilities. We focus on a compactification on the flag manifold. In certain regions of the flux landscape, the non-supersymmetric vacua become unstable under the nucleation of M5-brane bubbles wrapping an internal two-cycle, thus realising the dark bubble scenario. The cosmological constant on the bubble can be made parametrically small by tuning the internal fluxes, making the M5-branes close to the extremality bound. The solution relates the induced cosmological constant on the brane and the typical largest length scale of the extra dimensions through $R^{-1}\sim Λ_4^{1/4}$ in 4d Planck units, allowing for extra dimensions of the order of tens of microns. We also consider various alternatives, which for various reasons are currently not as successful.

We explore the idea that the mass parameter $m$ can be used as a diagnostic tool for identifying the critical points of thermal two-point functions of massive free scalar fields in odd $d$ dimensions. For general values of $m$ these correlators admit an expansion in thermal conformal blocks associated with symmetric traceless operators of definite scaling dimension. For each spin the higher-twist contributions can be resummed into a closed-form dressing factor of the leading-twist coefficient. At special values of $m$ for which the thermal trace of the energy-momentum tensor vanishes they are identified as two-point functions of thermal CFTs. Through a dimensional uplift, valid for all $m$, we map these correlators to thermal two-point functions of higher-derivative massive theories in $d+2$ dimensions. We show that the thermal trace of the energy-momentum tensor of the $d+2$-dimensional theory is proportional to the free energy of the original $d$-dimensional theory. When that thermal trace vanishes for $m\neq 0$ the uplifted correlators are identified as two-point functions of a higher-derivative nonunitary thermal CFT$_{d+2}$, but they differ from the uplifted nontrivial thermal two-point functions of the original unitary CFT$_d$.

We introduce novel scalar generating potentials to compute three and four point cosmological correlators in orthogonal Grassmannian space. These correlators are obtained by applying appropriate directional derivatives on these potentials, combined with helicity-dependent minors. We emphasize that, this is not a spin-raising analog, but a much more powerful construction. The four point generating potential is associated with the geometry of a projective triangle. First-order directional derivatives generate gluon correlator, while the Hessian of the same scalar potential produces the four-graviton correlators, thus realizing a differential double copy. Thus, double copy is a natural consequence of the underlying scalar potential as the origin of the gluon and graviton four point correlators. This framework extends naturally to any spin-$s$. We exhibit a geometric origin for the gluon colour identities: the projective homogeneity of the scalar potential implies Kleiss-Kuijf identity, while the kinematic Jacobi identity follows as a consequence of the closure of the triangle under directional derivatives. We also uncover a connection between the BCFW bridge deformation of the scalar potential and directional derivatives that produces the spin-s correlator. Thus the generating potential provides a universal geometrical interpretation for any spin-$s$ four point Grassmannian correlator, unlike \cite{Bala:2026lvw} where geometric interpretation was only shown for the gluons.

We compute the higher-rank translation ($\mathcal{T}$) and rotation ($\mathcal{R}$) matrices associated with a genus-one spectral curve. Using these data, we reconstruct the worldsheet correlators of vertex operators in the corresponding supersymmetric Landau--Ginzburg (LG) theory. This provides a generalization of the genus-zero, one-cut spectral-curve construction to higher-genus geometries. The matrix-model correlators are mapped to integrals over the moduli space of Riemann surfaces for the symmetric sextic double-well potential, which has a double-cut solution. We further identify the rational and elliptic contributions to the worldsheet integrated vertex operators and show that each of the sector precisely matches the corresponding correlators of single-trace operators in the matrix model. Altogether, our construction showcases an explicit dictionary between the higher-genus spectral-curve data, the associated Cohomological field theory (CohFT), and the worldsheet description of the corresponding matrix-model observables.

We consider the extension of the $δ$-shift connecting Tr$(φ^3)$ and pion amplitudes to observables in cosmology. We start in flat-space and explain how one can extract the pion wavefunction and correlators from those of Tr$(φ^3)$ theory, via a simple kinematic deformation. As opposed to the amplitude, the $δ$-shift for the wavefunction is no longer a linear deformation on the kinematics since the wavefunction depends on magnitudes rather than the squares of momenta. We "linearize" this deformation by using the frequency representation - allowing us to recast the contribution from any graph as a sum over residues. We then show how this construction extends to de Sitter, and find that, remarkably, in the frequency representation, the pion de Sitter wavefunction and correlators can be formulated in precisely the same way as in flat-space. Amongst other things, this unified formulation reveals a simple universal soft-limit for flat-space and de Sitter, where, in the soft-limit, the wavefunction turns into a sum of wavefunctions in a mixed theory of pions and scalars.

An alternative simple procedure consists in solving the Schrödinger equation for the relativistic Hamiltonian $$ \hat H\ =\ 2\sqrt{\hat p^2 + m^2} + σ|x| $$ with the string tension $σ= g^2N/4$. We compare the results obtained by these two methods. In the leading semiclassical approximation, they coincide. We show, however, that the preasymptotic WKB corrections to the masses calculated in these two ways are different. For the ground state, they play an essential role. But already for $n=3$, the relative difference between the two predictions does not exceed 2.5\% and rapidly falls off as $n$ increases.

We calculate the conservative deflection of a photon by a massive spinless source, such as a black hole, at third post-Minkowskian order using scattering amplitudes. We work in the heavy-source and long-range limits and adopt the geometric-optics approximation. The required five-point photon-graviton tree amplitude is constructed by on-shell recursion and sewn to three scalar-graviton vertices across a five-fold cut. Polynomial division organizes the cut information into sixteen contributions, including the residues with fewer propagators. We perform the source energy integrations and retain the near-on-shell photon regions in the remaining spatial integrals. Within the static region in which all exchanged momenta are soft, we relate a photon pole prescription to the subtraction of the cubic tree iteration from the conservative kernel. The sum of the sixteen contributions determines the classical logarithmic term at two loops. Its transverse Fourier transform gives the interaction radial action and yields the third-order deflection angle. The result agrees with the weak-deflection expansion of Schwarzschild null geodesics and demonstrates how nonlinear classical light bending is encoded in loop amplitudes around flat spacetime.

We argue that some of the puzzling features associated with the normalization of gravitational wave functions can be substantially alleviated by restricting the path integral to a sum over connected, allowable geometries. This prescription gives sensible results when applied to classical transitions and it provides non-trivial no-boundary probabilities, in line with old expectations. We highlight the additional impact of both boundary conditions and integration contours on these issues.

We study $SO(2n)$ gauge theories with a degenerate curvature kinetic operator defined by an orthogonal complex structure. The kinetic image is $\su(n)$, while the adjoint vacuum has stabilizer $U(n)$. We distinguish fixed projectors, unrestricted adjoint Higgs fields, and Higgs fields constrained exactly to the orbit $SO(2n)/U(n)$. For the constrained theory with a positive Higgs kinetic coefficient, the coset connection is auxiliary and the central connection is null. A nonlinear Dirac analysis establishes a regular weak-curvature branch with $2(n^2-1)$ physical degrees of freedom in four dimensions, locally equivalent to $SU(n)$ Yang--Mills theory. Normal Higgs displacements in the unrestricted theory can change the kinetic rank, so this count does not extend to that field space. We also characterize possible algebraic branches. We express the Stelle--West Higgs--gravity action through a common Clifford involution, and introduce projected Pontryagin theories and a full-rank equivariant completion.

We present the first holographic study of gravitational form factors (GFFs) of scalar, pseudoscalar and canonical-spin-averaged tensor glueball targets. These observables test gravitational cubic couplings whose physical validity is not established by spectra and static-force calibration. We construct a dynamical Einstein--scalar--axion representation inspired by the Babington--Crooks--Evans adjoint-mass deformation of $\mathcal N=4$ super-Yang--Mills theory and its Type-IIB supergravity dual. Leading ultraviolet source data are retained, while a soft-wall-like infrared reconstruction incorporates asymptotically linear radial mass-squared trajectories. Spectra and Wilson observables fix the parameters at a common Sommer scale without GFF input. The full constrained cubic vertices fail to describe 27 correlated scalar lattice observations, giving $χ^2/\mathrm{dof}=73.60/27=2.73$. We propose normalized heavy-target (HT) effective cubic couplings for pure-glue matching. HT adopts leading radial shapes suggested by infinitely heavy targets at fixed probe dynamics and normalizes their overlap weights on the physical ground states. With the background, modes and propagators unchanged, HT gives $χ^2/\mathrm{dof}=16.98/27=0.63$, without numerical adjustment to GFF data. Tensor and scalar source overlaps determine $A$ and the physical normalized trace; the exact finite-mass energy--momentum-tensor relation determines $D$. We predict the pseudoscalar and tensor form factors and three-target Breit pressure and shear profiles. On the reference infrared-decaying axion branch, the HT Breit mass radii are $0.276$, $0.300$ and $0.311\,\mathrm{fm}$, respectively. The results identify gravitational cubic matching as a distinct step beyond background calibration and provide a prescription for further lattice tests.

We study the dimensional reduction of non-Abelian Yang-Mills theory from five to four dimensions. In this framework, Hadamard descent is formulated as a restriction to gauge-equivalence classes that are invariant, up to gauge transformations, under translations along the reduced direction. The central result is that, prior to gauge fixing, the adjoint scalar of the reduced theory is not the connection component $A_u$ itself, but the gauge-covariant combination $\widetildeΦ=ε-ι_YA$, which follows naturally from the covariant Cartan identity. The usual identification with $A_u$ is recovered, up to the sign convention adopted here, in the $u$-independent gauge, while global holonomy data remain additional information to be specified separately. We show that the reduced theory takes the form of a Yang--Mills--Higgs theory with the Higgs field in the adjoint representation. As an example, we focus on the $U(2)$ gauge theory and analyze the Higgs mechanism, together with the associated symmetry breaking pattern, when the reduced theory is expanded around the ground state of the parent theory. We then include fermions and show that, in the $u$-independent gauge, the extra-dimensional component of the gauge connection generates a pseudoscalar Yukawa coupling which, on the vacuum configuration, can be converted into a fermion mass term by a chiral field redefinition, while the gauge interaction remains vectorial.

We develop a computational framework for the quantum relative entropy based on the replica trick and apply it to analyze the evaporation process method of Jackiw-Teitelboim black holes. We show that the relative entropies between the exact radiation state and the Hawking saddle state and the replica wormholes saddle state quantify information-theoretic costs inherent to coarse-grained semiclassical descriptions. During evaporation, the relative entropy for the Hawking saddle increases monotonically, reflecting a progressively higher thermodynamic cost of sustaining the Hawking description. Conversely, the relative entropy associated with the replica wormholes saddle decreases, which indicates that the description of connected geometries becomes progressively more accurate. Moreover, the sign of the difference between the two quantities reverses precisely at the Page time, providing an information-theoretic diagnosis for the transition between competing gravitational saddles. Our results recast the Page transition as a flow of relative entropy costs between competing semi-classical descriptions, revealing an information-theoretic structure underlying the emergence of effective irreversibility in coarse-grained black hole evaporation.

We describe a Segre-Veronese construction of polynomial solutions to the interpolation conditions of the numerators of tree-level MHV gravity amplitudes given by Hodges' formula. The five- and six-point Hodges numerators arise from Segre determinants, while for every $n\geq7$ suitable Segre determinants lead to solutions linearly independent of the Hodges numerator. The existence of such independent elements for $n=7,8$ was recently established by Mai and Zhang.

HOMFLY-PT polynomials describe analytic continuation of Wilson averages in Chern-Simons theory to arbitrary complex values of two independent parameters $q$ and $A$. They also depend on the knot and representation of the gauge group. However, when $q^2$ is a primitive $m$-th root of unity, e.g. $q=\pm e^{iπ/m}$, these polynomials exhibit a universal (knot-independent) factorization: $H_R$ becomes the product of the polynomials for the $m$-core of the Young diagram $R$ and of one and the same factor $H_{[m]}$ for every $m$-ribbon of $R$. In all the examples which we computed this factor is just the special polynomial at $A^m$. At $q=\pm1$ factorization follows from the singularity of the cabled HOMFLY, which is the same for all representations. At $m>1$ the relevant singularity is in the projector, and what survives of it is a finite sum of braids $X_m$ -- the $m$-th power sum inside the cable, which can be freely moved through the other strands. For the proof we use the Murnaghan-Nakayama rule and the Adams operation. Discovery of this hidden structure explains the old factorization puzzle.

We show that for bulk discrete series fields whose dual operators have integer conformal dimensions, the Generalised Energy Conservation (GEC) condition for de Sitter (dS) scattering amplitudes defined in even-dimensional extended Poincaré spacetime corresponds precisely to the absence of boundary conformal anomalies, including beta-function contributions, at the level of tree-level contact interactions. In contrast, holographic consistency in AdS/CFT enforces only the locality of the conformal anomaly. We find novel, unique four-point interactions involving three identical conformally coupled scalars and one discrete series scalar by performing both GEC and holographic bootstraps. This demonstrates that the solutions to GEC form a measure-zero subset of the holographically consistent solutions. Our holographic analysis agrees precisely with the expected renormalisation conditions for conformal field theory correlators. In addition, the constraint for a particular four-point configuration may be relevant for testing holographic consistency of scale-separated non-supersymmetric AdS$_4$ vacua.

We propose a new formula relating the rationalized Drinfeld associators obtained from the Knizhnik--Zamolodchikov equation to the quantum $6j$-symbols of the algebra $\mathcal{U}_q(\mathfrak{g})$: $ U_{q} = U \cdot Φ^{KZ}_{\mathbb{Q}} $. We prove this relation in the case of the $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ Lie algebra for the tensor cube of the fundamental and the first symmetric representation. We also check it perturbatively for the $\mathfrak{sl}_N$ algebra for representations $[2]\otimes [1] \otimes [1]$, $[2]\otimes [2] \otimes [1]$, the non-trivial cases with multiplicities --- $[2,1]^{\otimes 3}$, $[2,2]^{\otimes 3}$, and in the case of the $\mathfrak{so}_5$ Lie algebra for the tensor cube of the fundamental representation.

Recently, Cotler, Ivo, and Maldacena have shown that under scale invariance, eternal inflation is interpreted as a failure of the reheating surface volume renormalization due to an ill-defined scaling dimension. Meanwhile, observations suggest that scale invariance is slightly broken, which is parametrized by deviation of the spectral index from unity, $\varepsilon=n_s-1$. Motivated by this, we study how the scale invariance breaking effect modifies the no-eternal inflation condition as the renormalizability of the reheating surface volume. For this purpose, we adopt two independent approaches: investigating the behavior of the normal ordered reheating surface volume operator under a shift of the curvature perturbation, and analyzing the coarse-graining structure to obtain the scaling dimension. Both approaches commonly reveal that as long as $\varepsilon$ is negative, which is consistent with observations, the fractal structure of the reheating surface volume breaks down at macroscopic scale, moderating the no-eternal inflation condition.

We show that Hawking radiation spontaneously generated by dynamical black-hole formation can be realized in a local quantum spin model. Starting from the ground state corresponding to the early-time vacuum, with no initially prepared excitations, we follow the dynamics induced by the evolving geometry. In the corresponding continuum quantum field theory, Hawking particle creation is associated with nontrivial Bogoliubov mixing between the in- and out-mode decompositions. We derive the resulting renormalized local energy density in the continuum quantum field theory, which corresponds to an energy-weighted integral of the Hawking spectrum, and identify its counterpart as a local spin observable whose expectation value quantitatively reproduces the continuum prediction, including its dependence on the surface gravity. The agreement persists over a finite time window whose duration grows logarithmically with system size, revealing the crossover from universal continuum Hawking physics to lattice-cutoff dynamics. These results establish a microscopic route to quantum simulation of quantum field theory in curved spacetime, connecting field-theoretic particle creation directly to experimentally accessible many-body observables.

We develop a unified thermodynamic and mechanical framework for causal-diamond horizons in Minkowski spacetime. Euclidean regularity fixes the temperature $T_D=1/(πα)$, where $2α$ is the temporal extent of the diamond. The regulated Gibbons--Hawking--York contribution gives $I_D^E=-A_0/(4G)$, with $A_0$ the area of the horizon bifurcation surface, and the vanishing equilibrium geometric energy then yields the entropy--area relation $S_D=A_0/(4G)$. For weak matter perturbations crossing a localized portion of the future horizon, a Raychaudhuri analysis relates the associated Killing-energy flux to the area response, yielding a local physical-process first law at leading order near the bifurcation surface and, for classical matter satisfying the null energy condition, a local second law. Uniform conformal surface gravity establishes the zeroth law, while zero temperature is approached only in the limit $α\to\infty$, in which the finite causal horizon disappears. These results show that a coherent horizon-law structure can arise within a causal diamond, a fundamental building block of the causal structure of Minkowski spacetime. The derivation is explicit in $(2+1)$ dimensions, while the physical results retain the same form for spherical causal diamonds in $d\geq3$.

We construct the bulk local states of a massive spin-1 field in AdS$_3$/CFT$_2$ and three-dimensional Carrollian holography. In AdS, covariance under the isometries that leave a bulk point invariant determines the three components of the vector there and splits the solution into two branches of definite helicity, whose inner products reproduce the massive vector two-point function of AdS$_3$. By expanding the massive vector HKLL representation in boundary descendants, one can reproduce the three component states term by term. The two branches together describe the parity-invariant Proca field, and one alone the single propagating mode of Maxwell--Chern--Simons theory. The same conditions are solved in the induced representation of the Carrollian theory, where the solution again splits into two branches. Under the flat limit of the generators the highest weight module becomes the induced module, and the AdS states and Green's functions become their Carrollian counterparts, which supports the induced representation as the home of massive bulk excitations in Carrollian holography. This is the first bulk local state built with spin, complete from the state itself to its bulk-to-bulk propagator and to the limit relating the two descriptions.

We study Maxwell theory near a nonextremal bifurcate Killing horizon in a general static, spherically symmetric spacetime of dimension $D>3$. We impose near-horizon boundary conditions in a regular Eddington--Finkelstein chart that retain both radiative and Coulombic data, and construct the associated horizon phase space and large-$U(1)$ charge. At null infinity, the radiative falloff depends on the spacetime dimension and involves half-integer powers in odd $D$, whereas a nonextremal horizon at finite radius supports radiative data with an ordinary integer-power expansion. Expanding the horizon fields in Killing frequency and spherical harmonics, we derive the associated soft-photon relation from the large-$U(1)$ Ward identity. For comparison, we express the flat-space leading soft-photon theorem using the same spherical harmonics and commutator normalization as the horizon modes. In $D=4$, the two relations have the same soft-frequency dependence and the same angular dependence of the hard-charge terms, whereas for $D>4$ the flat-space relation contains additional dimension-dependent frequency and angular factors.

We study quantum algorithms for finding a vacuum with a small cosmological constant in the toy model for string Landscape proposed by Arkani-Hamed, Dimopoulos, and Kachru. First, we construct a function-value oracle and use it for Grover search with query complexity $\mathcal{O}(2^{N/2})$, where $N$ is the number of scalar fields. Then, we point out that, by exploiting the linearity of the vacuum energy, the problem can be reduced to a collision problem between two blocks of the bit string. With this structure, we construct two quantum algorithms with query complexity $\mathcal{O}(2^{N/3})$. Compared with the pseudo-polynomial classical algorithm of Denef and Douglas, the quantum algorithms yield a large reduction in computational cost for the physically motivated parameter values.

We study the magnetic-field-driven critical end point (CEP) of the QCD thermal transition at zero baryon chemical potential using a five-dimensional Einstein--Maxwell--dilaton (EMD) model. We calibrate the model to lattice entropy at zero and finite magnetic fields using a neural-network formulation of holographic radial evolution. As the magnetic field increases, the thermal transition changes from a crossover to a first-order transition. The merger of temperature turning points, a divergent specific heat, and a vanishing squared sound speed identify $(eB_c,T_c)\simeq(7.22\,\mathrm{GeV}^{2},95.9\,\mathrm{MeV})$. The transition-region inflection of $s/T^3$ defines the crossover temperature, while an equal-pressure Maxwell construction determines the first-order coexistence line. The two lines meet at the CEP. The change of transition order agrees qualitatively with lattice results. The phase boundary is a prediction of the calibrated model.

We study a representative two-loop family of worldline quantum field theory integrals relevant for classical gravitational scattering with a massive mediator and investigate the geometric structure of its maximal cut. We find that, unlike the massless case, the massive loops already give rise to an elliptic maximal cut at two loops, which degenerates into a nodal curve in the massless limit and in the static limit. In the global Baikov representation, two successive integrations reduce the maximal cut to a period of an elliptic curve. We further establish five primary consequences of this study: (a) The integration-by-parts method generates five master integrals, which, under reflection, split into a three-dimensional elliptic block and a two-dimensional polylog block. We derive the differential equation in two ways, one by Laporta reduction and subsequently by intersection theory in two cocycle bases, and construct the rational map between them. (b) The period matrices in arbitrary dimension have been computed in terms of Appell and Beta functions. Furthermore, we derive twisted Riemann period relations that yield nine quadratic identities among them. (c) We study the global monodromy relation of the differential system that satisfies Riemann's bilinear relation. (d) We explicitly derive the function space of the iterated integrals in terms of elliptic multiple polylogs. (e) In impact-parameter space, the Fourier-transformed cut is a Bessel-twisted differential on the elliptic curve, which we show has extra involution symmetries. Thus, the parity of the differential further decides which quotient - rational or elliptic its periods live on. All results presented concern the maximal cut and, therefore, the homogeneous solutions, but they open an important pathway to tackling the full massive two-loop integral.

Generalized entanglement wedges (GWs), proposed by Bousso and Penington for gravitating regions in general spacetimes, share many properties of ordinary entanglement wedges, including nesting, monotonicity and strong subadditivity of their generalized entropies. In AdS/CFT, the corresponding properties of entanglement wedges are consequences of the structure of the dual CFT. In this paper we ask whether the properties of GWs have a similar origin. We explore this question in vacuum AdS$_3$ at leading order in $G$. We first show that every GW on a static slice is a union of geodesically convex regions. Each such region is an intersection of ordinary entanglement wedges, so every GW is built from unions and intersections of entanglement wedges. We then use the Crofton formula of integral geometry to write the perimeter of a convex region as the measure of the set of geodesics that intersect it. In AdS$_3$ every geodesic is the Ryu--Takayanagi surface of a boundary interval, so this measure can be written in terms of the von Neumann entropies of CFT intervals. Strong subadditivity of the CFT entropy guarantees that the measure is positive. Monotonicity and strong subadditivity of GWs then follow from simple inequalities between sets of geodesics. The strong subadditivity of GWs is therefore a direct consequence of strong subadditivity on the boundary. Our results further suggest that GWs correspond to subsystems of the CFT that are more general than boundary subregions.

In this work, we revisit the analytical structure of the classical affine Lie bialgebra underlying the integrable structures of AdS/CFT worldsheet scattering and the one-dimensional Hubbard model. Earlier work showed that the algebraic relations implied two singularity locations in the evaluation parameter plane besides the common expansion points infinity and zero for Laurent polynomials forming the basis for loop and affine algebras. Our aim is to formulate these singularities rigorously using meromorphic functions rather than by expansion into geometric series. We thus carefully analyse the analytical structure of the affine bialgebra relations in the complex plane paying attention to potential restrictions and extensions due to the additional singularities. As a first attempt with some shortcomings, we reformulate the affine bialgebra relations with the extra singularities serving as the expansion points for Laurent polynomials. We finally overcome the remaining issues by proposing three-point and four-point affine algebras for the rational and trigonometric cases. With a suitable choice of basis for meromorphic functions on the Riemann sphere with several punctures based on Krichever-Novikov algebras, we show that the multi-point affine algebras form consistent quasi-triangular Lie bialgebras.

In a (1+1)-dimensional QFT with non-invertible symmetry, the fusion rules of topological lines are often the most accessible data, yet they do not fully determine whether the symmetry is anomaly-free, i.e. whether it admits trivially gapped phases. Such phases are characterized by fiber functors of the corresponding fusion category. Building on Tannaka duality, we extract fiber functors from the fusion ring alone by solving simultaneously for monoidal structure maps and tensor automorphisms. This allows us to find categorifications admitting a fiber functor without solving the pentagon equations directly. We test this procedure on the known Tambara--Yamagami ring of $\mathbb{Z}_2\times\mathbb{Z}_2$. Our main result concerns the rank-11 fusion ring shared by the representation categories of the two extraspecial groups of order 27, which has a multiplicity 3 channel and is relevant to self-triality. In both cases we find more than one fiber functor, i.e. several non-invertible SPT phases. We use the explicit data of these fiber functors to derive the $F$-symbols of the two representation categories in a compact form depending on a non-degenerate alternating bicharacter and an invertible object $ε$. Using the reconstructed data, we compute the anomalous algebra on the interface between two different SPT phases.

String Theory provides powerful tools for constructing and studying five-dimensional Quantum Field Theories, notably through geometric engineering and five-brane webs. Understanding how these two descriptions are related in the presence of 7-branes requires incorporating the s-rule into the geometry. To address this question, we focus on basic three-legged five-brane webs ending on 7-branes. Building on the local M-theory description of five-branes ending on 7-branes, we consider triangular toric diagrams with a single non-primitive edge. We show that the corresponding local complex-structure deformation is well defined on the overlaps with the neighboring toric patches, while the corresponding gluing map remains well behaved as a function of the holomorphic coordinates throughout the neighboring patches precisely when the s-rule is satisfied. At saturation, the geometry is a T-cone and the 7-brane deformation becomes its Q-Gorenstein smoothing. Our results thus identify the s-rule with the obstruction to globalizing the local 7-brane deformation and provide a direct geometric link between T-cones and five-branes ending on 7-branes.

We complete the systematic derivation of the Quantum Spectral Curve (QSC) for strings on $\text{AdS}_3\times\text{S}^3\times \text{T}^4$ with pure Ramond--Ramond (RR) flux, building on the extended Y-system obtained in our preceding paper. We establish the precise relation between the two formalisms of the Thermodynamic Bethe Ansatz and the QSC, derive the previously conjectured QSC, and, along the way, uncover additional relations satisfied by its solutions. Our analysis also clarifies how massless excitations, although not explicit among the basic QSC building blocks, are encoded in their analytic structure. The derivation culminates in the so-called $\mathbf{P}μ$-system, a compact formulation of the QSC in terms of a small set of functions and their analytic continuations.

Under a proposed counting prescription motivated by Virasoro TQFT, we find agreement with the conjectured unit difference between the numbers of contributing manifolds associated to the two interaction terms in the potential. By contrast, counting all inequivalent surface embeddings separately would instead give a mismatch. This comparison highlights the importance of specifying the set of bulk topologies to be included in the gravitational path integral.

The classical soft graviton theorem aims to determine certain terms in the early- and late-time tails of the gravitational waveform produced in a scattering process, using only the asymptotic momenta of the scattered objects. In this paper we find an infinite series of leading-logarithmic tail terms in the Newtonian limit, where the incoming and outgoing particles move slowly, but the scattering itself can be violent. The all-orders conjecture of Alessio, Di Vecchia and Heissenberg agrees with our results for two-particle scattering, but does not hold in general when the initial or final state contains three or more particles. We also propose an all-orders conjecture for these tails beyond the Newtonian limit, but do not prove it. Nevertheless, the conjecture passes several nontrivial consistency checks.

We point out a puzzle about BPS black holes in AdS$_4\times S^7/\mathbb{Z}_k$: the entropy grows when $k$ increases although the number of gauge-invariant operators in the dual conformal field theory that can contribute to the entropy grows as $k$ decreases, due to the presence of monopole operators. Analyzing the superconformal index of ABJM, we show that the same puzzle exists for finite $N$ in the large charge limit. We propose a resolution based on an increasing number of trace relations as $k$ decreases, which dominates over the other effect. We argue that this mostly affects fortuitous operators and we provide an explicit example of a fortuitous operator that disappears at small $k$.

We present an explicit formula for the $n$-gon graph contribution to the integrand of the cosmological wavefunction for conformally coupled $φ^3$ theory in de Sitter space. Our result relies on the fact that its symbol satisfies total compatibility with respect to the $B_{2n-1}$ cluster algebra. We introduce $B$-type quadrangular polylogarithms, constructed from centrally symmetric quadrangulations of a $4n$-gon, and show that the $n$-gon wavefunction coefficient is expressed by a natural weight-$n$ function of this class. We prove our formula by directly relating the recursive differential equation satisfied by these wavefunction coefficients to a recursive coproduct formula for $B$-type quadrangular polylogarithms, with the remaining additive constant fixed by the soft limit.

We examine, in the Landau background gauge, the effective action of a quantum theory of gravitational and matter fields. We analyse the BRST invariance of this theory and study the Ward identities which implement the symmetry of the background effective action. The off-shell and on-shell counterterm Lagrangians are explicitly calculated in this gauge at one-loop order. We argue that the matter self-energy in the Landau background gauge, which is finite to this order, may be finite also at higher loops.

The large-$D$ membrane paradigm provides a perturbative, non-gravitational description of black hole dynamics. While the local second law of thermodynamics has been established for neutral membranes, the explicit determination of the local entropy production equation within the charged large-$D$ membrane framework remains unsolved. In this paper, we compute the subleading-order correction to the divergence of the membrane velocity for a charged black hole in a flat background. We evaluate the corresponding scalar Einstein-Maxwell constraint equation at the physical event horizon via the non-affine null Raychaudhuri equation, and relate the physical horizon expressions to the auxiliary membrane kinematics, demonstrating that the membrane velocity produces a non-negative divergence at the first non-vanishing order in the membrane worldvolume, which is driven by two quadratic forms: the membrane shear and a novel contribution generated purely by the Maxwell field. Using this result, we construct the membrane entropy current and prove that its divergence is non-negative through this order, thereby establishing the local second law for the charged large-$D$ membrane paradigm.

We formulate a nonlocal spin-$1/2$ field theory in curved spacetime in which the form factor is a nonpolynomial entire function of the covariant Dirac operator. We derive the corresponding nonlocal Dirac equation and analyze its coupling to gravity and to a $\rm U(1)$ gauge field. As an application, we study the theory in the open chart of de Sitter spacetime and construct the associated nonlocal Bunch--Davies modes. The nonlocal dynamics can be mapped, branch by branch, onto the local Dirac equation with an effective mass $M_n$. For the exponential form factors considered here, the effective masses are expressed in terms of branches of the Lambert-$W$ function. We show that the Euclidean analyticity structure of the Bunch--Davies construction is preserved. On the physical positive-residue branch, the Bogoliubov coefficients, squeezing parameter, occupation number, and entanglement entropy acquire explicit nonlocal corrections, while the absence of physical fermionic supercurvature modes is preserved. The local theory is smoothly recovered in the limit $Λ\to\infty$.

An oscillon in scalar field theory in $(1+1)$-dimensions is an oscillating, localised, almost periodic classical solution that slowly radiates and decays to the vacuum solution. We calculate its momentum flux integrated over a period, which would be zero for an exact breather. For an oscillon of small amplitude $\eps$, truncated at order $\eps^N$, we show that the integrated momentum flux is of leading order $\eps^{N+4}$ for even $N$ and $\eps^{N+5}$ for odd $N$, except for $N=1$, where it is of order $\eps^4$. It is therefore very small.

In this work we investigate the behaviour of early inflationary cosmic correlation functions under the flow of the infrared scale for interacting spectator scalar field theories. We start with the derivation of the one-loop effective potentials for $φ^4$, $φ^4$-Yukawa and broken phase $O(N)$ model in the inflationary de Sitter spacetime, first using the local Schwinger-DeWitt expansion propagator, and next using the exact de Sitter propagator. The Schwinger-DeWitt expansion being valid in a sub-Hubble length scale, furnishes suitable framework to determine the leading curvature corrections to high energy phenomena having sub-Hubble Compton wavelengths. These effective potentials show spontaneous symmetry breaking pattern, and are next used as ultraviolet boundary conditions in the Wetterich equation generating the desired IR flow. The flow is shown to drive the theory towards symmetry restoration. Using these IR-improved effective potentials, we next compute the stochastic power spectra and spectral indices for the temporally coincident two point correlation function of the spectator scalar. We show that the results corresponding to the aforementioned two kind of propagators are roughly in qualitative agreement with each other, but may differ quantitatively significantly. Both of them show increase in the spectral index in the deep IR for $φ^4$ and $φ^4$-Yukawa. The effect of fermionic interaction has been emphasised. Also for the case of the $O(N)$ scalar, we demonstrate that the effective potential's shape becomes more and more insensitive to the flow as $N$ gets large. Implication of this on the correlation function has been discussed.

We investigate the relation between gravitational entropy and holographic entanglement entropy in braneworld gravity with gravitational dynamics localized on the brane. We first consider the DGP brane model, in which an Einstein-Hilbert term is included in the brane action, and derive the condition under which the gravitational entropy of a braneworld black hole agrees with the holographic entanglement entropy. We show that the two entropies coincide when a specific condition involving the extrinsic curvature of the brane is satisfied. In particular, this condition is automatically satisfied for static configurations. We then generalize the brane-localized Einstein-Hilbert term to higher-curvature gravitational theories. For Lovelock gravity and $f(R)$ gravity on the brane, we derive the corresponding conditions for the equality between gravitational entropy and holographic entanglement entropy and show that they take the same form as that obtained for Einstein gravity. Although the equality is not guaranteed for general stationary configurations, the required condition is satisfied for static braneworld black holes, leading to an agreement between the two entropies. These results clarify the relation between gravitational entropy and holographic entanglement entropy in braneworld gravity and contribute to a deeper understanding of holography in braneworld settings.

We investigate global consistency conditions for five-dimensional warped braneworlds in Palatini and metric-affine gravity. Starting from the generalized Gibbons-Kallosh-Linde framework, we derive integrated sum rules for cosmological warped geometries and examine how independent connection degrees of freedom modify the standard Einstein-gravity obstruction to smooth compact braneworlds. The analysis separates geometric, matter, and non-Riemannian contributions and clarifies the conditions under which the usual no-go result can be modified. We show that the generalized consistency relations provide necessary global constraints on admissible configurations and identify the terms responsible for possible departures from the Riemannian case. The results establish a systematic framework for testing the global consistency of smooth five-dimensional braneworlds in gravitational theories with independent affine structure.

We investigate whether a minimally coupled Abelian Maxwell sector can relax the Gibbons--Kallosh--Linde (GKL) obstruction to smooth five-dimensional warped braneworlds. For a canonical scalar field coupled to a bulk Maxwell field, we derive the one-parameter family of global consistency conditions while keeping the tangential F_{μν} and mixed F_{μ5} sectors separate. This decomposition is essential because the Maxwell stress tensor is not traceless in five dimensions. We show that electromagnetic terms formally modify the integrated GKL constraints, but this modification does not provide a consistent evasion of the no-go theorem under the standard assumptions. Exact four-dimensional Poincaré invariance excludes a nonzero deterministic classical Maxwell field from the background, since its field strength would select preferred four-dimensional directions. The Maxwell sector therefore vanishes in the symmetric background and the usual smooth-brane obstruction is recovered. We also identify which assumptions must be relaxed for a nontrivial electromagnetic contribution and distinguish this background result from local consistency conditions for bulk gauge-field localization.

We construct the operator product expansions (OPEs) of the ${\cal N}=8$ ${\rm w}_{1+\infty}$ currents (obtained from the antiholomorphic light transform) with the matter fields in the ${\cal N}=8$ supergravity. The corresponding (anti)commutators are obtained from the double contour integrals using the above OPEs. By computing the triple (anti)commutators consisting of current-current-matter (i.e., the Jacobi identity for fixed last element), the previously known ${\cal N}=8$ celestial soft symmetry algebra between these currents (in the antiholomorphic sector) is reproduced. We repeat the above procedure by taking the holomorphic light transform and the OPEs of the ${\cal N}=8$ ${\rm \bar{w}}_{1+\infty}$ currents with the matter fields and the corresponding (anti)commutators are obtained. We also obtain another type of ${\cal N}=8$ celestial soft symmetry algebra between these currents (in the holomorphic sector). As a subalgebra in the antiholomorphic and holomorphic sectors, there exists the ${\cal N}=8$ extended BMS (Bondi, van der Burg, Metzner, and Sachs in 1962) algebra. We analyze the above results from the ${\cal N}=8$ conformally {\it soft} ${\rm w}_{1+\infty}$ (or ${\rm \bar{w}}_{1+\infty}$) currents in the antiholomorphic (or holomorphic) sector. The nontrivial soft theorems for the graviton, the gravitinos and the graviphotons are described. Finally, using the shadow transform (the consecutive composition of holomorphic and antiholomorphic light transforms), we obtain the OPEs of the ${\cal N}=8$ {\it shadow} ${\rm w}_{1+\infty}$ (or ${\rm \bar{w}}_{1+\infty}$) currents with the matter fields where the stress-energy tensor, the supercurrents and the supertranslation generator of the ${\cal N}=8$ extended BMS algebra are identified.

We show how extremal near horizon geometries can be recovered from the non extremal near horizon expansion for smooth stationary black hole families admitting a smooth extremal limit. In Gaussian null coordinates common to the family, we apply the near extremal scaling of the surface gravity together with a radial scaling and a rescaling of Killing time. Although the physical surface gravity vanishes, the scaled horizon can retain a finite surface gravity. The extremal near horizon geometry is obtained when this scaled surface gravity is taken to zero. Under the near extremal scaling and the time rescaling, the quadratic radial term in the temporal metric component can survive, while higher radial orders vanish. Expansion through second order is therefore sufficient and is necessary whenever the quadratic term has a nonzero limiting coefficient in the chosen chart. We derive a common pullback prescription for extracting the near horizon coefficients and recover the known throats of Reissner-Nordström, Kerr, Kerr-Newman, and charged rotating Bañados-Teitelboim-Zanelli (BTZ) black holes. Neutral rotating BTZ provides a case in which the string Carroll expansion already suffices.

We investigate inflationary magnetogenesis with massive vector fields, including charged scalar particle production via the Schwinger effect and its backreaction on the background electric energy density. Initially neglecting the Schwinger effect, we quantize the vector field and solve the equations of motion for transverse and longitudinal modes, computing the energy momentum tensor. We then incorporate the backreaction of the electric energy density and show that the longitudinal energy density is subleading compared to the electric background. Since the electric energy density dominates the magnetic contribution, we can treat the former separately from the perturbative contributions. We adopt this approach when studying particle production via the Schwinger effect, assuming that its backreaction acts only on the background electric energy density. The latter is computed using a classical background electromagnetic field minimally coupled to a quantum complex scalar field. The magnetic and longitudinal components are instead described through quantum fields. In this framework, the Schwinger production affects only the electric energy density, as long as it remains dominant compared to the other components. As a consistency check, we verify that for a null coupling constant we recover the same electric energy density as obtained within the fully quantum electromagnetic description. Finally, we show that for non-null coupling constants Schwinger particle production drastically reduces the electric energy density during the final stages of inflation.
